Poor Customer Service and Disappointing Quality
Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience with NordicLamps.
Less than a year ago, I bought two Copenhagen table lamps for DKK 800 in total. Unfortunately, one of them broke after falling off my bedside table. I was honestly surprised by how fragile it was – the entire lamp head is held in place by a very small plastic component, which doesn't seem particularly durable.
Since I wanted to keep a matching pair of bedside lamps, I contacted customer service to buy a replacement. Since my original purchase, the price has increased dramatically. A single lamp now has a list price of DKK 1,299 (currently discounted to DKK 700 on their website), while two lamps can be purchased for DKK 1,000 with a quantity discount.
Customer service offered me a DKK 100 discount. I therefore asked if I could buy a single replacement lamp for DKK 450, which would still be more than I originally paid per lamp less than a year ago. They refused. My only options were to buy one lamp for DKK 600 (after the discount) or buy two lamps for DKK 900.
I understand that prices can change, but when an existing customer simply wants to replace a lamp that has broken, I believe a little more flexibility would be reasonable. Instead, I felt pressured into either paying an unreasonably high price for a single lamp or buying two when I only needed one.
The combination of a significant price increase (a normal list price of DKK 1,299 for a single lamp?!), a product that, in my experience, is not particularly robust, and very inflexible customer service means I will not be buying from NordicLamps again. There are many competitors selling almost identical lamps for around DKK 250–300 each, and that's where I'll be shopping in the future.
