Just spoke to Jack in the customer…

Just spoke to Jack in the customer care department, trying to arrange to hand my car back at the end of a Pcp agreement, Jack doesn't seem to understand how this works and making it very difficult and confusing, I asked to speak with someone else, that option was refused, asked to speak with his manager that was refused asking for his managers name he refused to give this information, I advised he was making this situation very difficult and confusing, continued to tell me my next payment is just over £10,000 no Jack it's a Pcp I have the option to hand the car back... Why are you making this option so difficult?

LEGAL ACTION PENDING - Utterly Disappointed – Northridge Finance’s Relentless Delays, Lack of Accountability, and Disregard for Customer Rights

My experience with Northridge Finance is illegal and their handling of what is such an emotive experience shows everything you need to know.
I purchased a vehicle under their PCP agreement and what has happened since is nothing short of disgusting .

After the vehicle suffered a major engine failure within just 2,000 miles, I followed Northridge’s own advice and commissioned an independent inspection by Northridge’s recommended expert.
Despite the thorough, legally compliant report confirming the defect was present or developing at the point of sale (and NOT caused by my use), Northridge has consistently refused to accept responsibility or take meaningful action. Instead, they have wasted months deferring to the dealer, requesting unnecessary clarifications, and ignoring clear evidence.

Key issues:

No Final Response: After five months, Northridge has still not provided a formal resolution or final response, despite repeated requests and all evidence being supplied - Whist expecting payment for a car that doesn't work
Ignored Expert Evidence: Northridge advised who to inspect the vehicle, made me pay then disregarded their findings when the report confirmed the defect was not my fault.
Unreasonable Delays: I have been left without a usable vehicle for over five months, incurring significant financial and emotional hardship for myself and my young family who are without a car.

Disregard for Legal Rights: Northridge’s handling of my complaint is in clear breach of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and Consumer Credit Act 1974. Their failure to act promptly and fairly is not just poor service—it’s unlawful. I have had to escalate my case to the Financial Ombudsman Service, who are now formally investigating Northridge’s conduct.

Summary:
Northridge Finance has demonstrated a complete lack of accountability, customer care, and respect for legal obligations. Their relentless delays and refusal to act on independent expert evidence have caused me significant financial loss and distress. I strongly advise anyone considering Northridge to avoid them at all costs.

I have a young family and have had to be without a car for 6 months whilst paying a monthly fee while Northridge do nothing! No final response, not action, no accountability or pressure to get to a resolution, just delays and stalling.

Spencer Halil this is the sort of service your company provides, you should be ashamed

I want to give Northridge Finance a full 5 stars. I spoke to them on the phone, and the person who helped me really understood my situation and made me feel comfortable straight away. He listened to my problems carefully and explained everything the right way. He treated me with respect and made me feel that I have the right to complain and be heard.

No sense of humanity

I have financed cars with Northridge and never had an issue. But the one time I needed their support and step up, they completely failed me.

I bought an electric vehicle with a range of 275 miles advertised. Cutting a very long story short, the car once delivered was only getting 150 miles, significantly under what was advertised this. I consistently raised this with the dealer who reassured me this would improve with the weather and warmth, not aware of the rights I was giving up.

The issue did not improve with the weather, and once the dealership contact ceased I asked Northridge to help and raised a complaint as I wanted to return the vehicle.

Northridge took no sense of compassion or empathy when looking at the real life toll driving this unpredictable vehicle was having, purely favouring the dealership despite their completely obvious short falls and no contact.

I am absolutely disgusted by the fact Northridge took none of my feelings or thoughts into their decision. I provided visual evidence of the dashboard showing the issue, as well as battery health report which was not ‘sufficient’ evidence.

When I raised my disappointment in the decision, I was told it would be looked back into… this was 3 months ago and I have not heard a peep. I have now raised this with the financial ombudsman.

I will never finance another vehicle with northridge - they have made a mockery of me and my feelings, providing no support or protection to their customer.

Avoid if you want a finance company who will protect you when you have clearly been failed.

Hi - Firstly I'm sorry that I cant comment more directly on this matter but I cant identify your case from your screen name or the details you describe but what I would like to say is that the issue you describe is a tricky one. As the lender we ARE NOT the supplier of the car in any real sense, but we are considered to be the supplier of the car in law (because we use HP). What this means is that we don't see the car, nor do we have any first hand knowledge of its physical or mechanical condition. What we do know, however is that the dealer that we operate through should be professional and only sell roadworthy cars and they should support the customer if anything goes wrong, as it occasionally does. A customer also has a lot more protections if anything goes wrong if they use HP or PCP from a lender too, because of the Consumer Credit Act and we will always support them if the dealer is less co-operative. What none of this does though is make a used car free from defects or wear and tear - its a used car after all not a new one. It also doesn't make the lender (or the dealer) responsible for characteristics of the way the car operates that are typical of that car and should be expected to some degree. The reduction in range from a used battery and the variability of range due to weather, temperature and driving style are all predicable characteristics of used EV's. I cant comment on this case specifically but if the advertised range was for the car when it was new at typical temperatures and an average driving style, a drop from 275 to 150 in winter for a used EV is not beyond expectations so is unlikely to be due to a fault in the car or the battery.

To be avoided

i am writing to complain about my agreement. i have done overpayment on 8th and 9th of September for total of 12K but yester i have been informed that you cant accept the overpayment! when asked the adviser why, he was not sure why exactly? at first said that because my agreement is over 50K! which is not true (the purchase value is over 50K but not the loan value! then he said because i have irregular agreement, but when i checked my agreement is HP and clearly mentioned in your website that i can do overpayments.

they are scamming customers and not following FCA guideline

Hello Saeed - Firstly I am sorry that my colleague failed to explain themselves clearly enough for you to be comfortable with the advice you have been given by us, but because the agreement you were paying into is a limited company and not your personal agreement, it is unregulated (not irregular). This would be clearly stated in the finance agreement you signed and means that it is not subject to the laws and regulations that provide for over payments. Hello Stephanie - I'm sorry that you've had this experience but there was no error by us in the payments - its just one was made by you manually, and one was made by us though the DD. Of course two payments isn't correct so you are due a refund and as soon as the system sees an extra payment has been made and it clears, a refund is raised. Your refund has been processed today, because the manual payment cleared today. Unfortunately the timing of this hasnt, been great for us to communicate with you. We had problems with our phone system yesterday, so we put a message on our lines to ask people to email in instead, but this has meant we are taking longer to reply to emails than we would like. Apologies once again but hopefully that at least lets you know what happened and reassures you its all being resolved.

Stacked upfront interest on a car loan…

Ongoing complaint over a car loan through Northridge finance - i choose to pay off the loan early to be told and to the realisation that they had stacked all interest payments into the first 24, therefore leaving me with a higher settlement figure half way through the pain, pocketing the extra money... I am disgusted on learning this as it clearly states no early repayment fees - but they'll take all the interest up front please, and thanks! Appalling behaviour and a missold product.

Hello Kitch - I am sorry that this has come as a surprise to you and been disappointing, but I can assure you that we have done nothing other than allocate the interest in line with legislation and in exactly the same way that every lender is legally obliged to do. If you want to look at it the specific legislation, it is the Consumer Credit Act 1974 which tells us how our HP and PCP agreements must work, and the Financial Reporting Standard FRS 102 that tells us how we must allocate the interest. To summarise though; the law is designed to take into account that interest is payable on the outstanding balance and you owe more at the beginning than you do later in the contract, so your early payments include more interest and less capital repayment. We have not taken all of the interest in the first 24 months, it is spread over the whole term of the loan in this way. Over time, as the amount you owe reduces, less interest is taken as part of that months payment, and more of each payment goes toward repaying the loan itself. Another way to think about it might be that the interest you pay reflects the cost of the money you have borrowed, so it makes sense that the cost/interest is higher while you have more of it and lower once you have paid more of it back. To keep the payment the same each month the balance between the interest and the loan capital shifts over time - as the interest part gets smaller the capital part can increase to keep the payment the same. This is all calculated to fit the term that you chose and is reflected in the APR but it does mean that if you settle earlier than expected, you have to remember that a lot of what you will have paid is the interest not the capital. The cost over the agreement will always be what was described on your document, and this IS NOT a fee, its just the legally defined way to allocate interest. Spencer (MD, Northridge Finance)

My partner bought a car from “Prestige…

My partner bought a car from “Prestige Autos Surrey.” It turned out that the vehicle had a hidden defect – faulty shock absorbers, which were confirmed by three independent garages. Despite this, the dealer refused to carry out any repairs.

We then reported the issue to the bank, since the car was financed through them. Unfortunately, the bank completely ignored our arguments and evidence, disregarded the confirmations from the garages, and blindly sided with the dealer, who claimed there was no fault.

For comparison – I previously had a similar situation with Santander, and within a week they sent an independent inspector. The assessment confirmed the defects, and the bank supported us. That is how proper customer service should look.

In this case, however, it is clear that this bank only cares about receiving payments. When a real problem arises and you ask them for help, they simply turn their back on you. I definitely do not recommend this bank.

I made overpayment on Saturday 16 aug…

I made overpayment on Saturday 16 aug online put details in agreement num etc also said i wamt to shorten length of time as have been making payment to shorten time. The app isnt best as doesnt tell you overpayment on it. Still hasnt updated as balance is still the same before overpayment. I have fone 3times to chase it. Guy today sounded promising but so did girl before him. Always ask same question do you want to shorten time or pay less with overpayment. Online we need to answer that for overpayment so why need to ask or take all that time should be days and should tell you on app. Also shouldn't need to chase up.
