Ridiculous prices Oxfam Truro
This is the first review I’ve written but I was so disappointed with my visit to Oxfam Truro that I had to share. It has so much potential to do good and raise money for charity as well as being charitable to those shopping there however it misses the mark on every level. The prices are so high that it’s is completely prohibitive to people trying to shop carefully. A jacket was £60, jeans £15+, kids toys seemed to start at £6 and the homewares equally overpriced (an old tin was £29!) Oxfam needs to realise that if its customers have £60 to spend on a jacket they would not be buying second hand. If they have one or two items that they feel are especially valuable they should keep them out of the shops and stick them online. There were quite a few customers looking whilst I was in there and I didn’t see one customer buy anything. The shelves are rammed and so the high prices are speaking for themselves. No changing rooms so you can’t even try it on if you were tempted. I’m absolutely sure the revenue would go up if you reduced the prices by 50% + . I spent £0 as I thought it was completely missing the spirit of charity shops. They have some nice stock so I could have easily spend £££ if I came away with several items rather than just one or two as the price I could buy it on the high street. Maybe they have a shop manager used to London prices but I hope they make some changes soon and they actually make some money for the charity they are there for. Disappointing and I wouldn’t bother to go in there again.
Peace ✌️ and love ❤️ for humanity.

I received a quick reply to my email from Oxfam. I'm glad to be able to have the opportunity to support an organisation/charity that is trying to help & improve this dreadful situation in Israel where so many innocent people are being caught up in the retaliations. The donation system was extremely easy to use.

Oxfam Bloomsbury Bookshop helped me…
Oxfam Bloomsbury Bookshop helped me with a large donation of books -- 10 boxes and 2 carrier bags. I am 89 and need to downsize. Jacoba organised a collection at my convenience and couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. It was a really positive experience despite the fact I was sad to see my books go.

I love to visit the Oxfam Store in New Malden High Street.
There are several charity shops in this area, and I always find this shop the most inviting, friendliest of them all. There is always a good turn over of saleable items at very reasonable prices, and always nicely presented. A big shout out to Rod the manager, and also to Kathy on the till. People seem to forget that people like Kathy are volunteer workers, and do not get paid for all their hard work. Keep up the good work!!
Oxfam has lost its value
Oxfam has lost its value! It only cares for money and greed! People donated items for free and oxfam marks up prices more expensive than buying brand new! Your a disgrace for charity

Staff deliberately overcharge
I chose two items that had their sticky price tickets on; one priced at £1.99 and the other at £2.99. I put the items on the counter and went to look at the other end of the shop. I returned, paid and left the shop. Once home, I noticed that the £1.99 item has it's sticky price tag removed and I had been charged two sums of £2.99. I realise that it was an overcharge of £1 yet it was (i) deliberate and (ii) unfair.
At no time did the elderly volunteer bring to my attention that she had removed the £1.99 ticket and had charged me two sums of £2.99.
This volunteer had deliberately overcharged me which is horrible of her. I shall never visit this shop again.

DVD set not as described.
I recently purchased a DVD set using the online shop. Advertised as 'as new' I was happy to pay a premium over other possibilities. The DVDs arrived fairly quickly and the DVDs were in good condition. However the item obviously had been donated from a smokers' home evident by the smell and yellowing on the case. Dissappointing the description was not accurate as I could only believe what was stated.

Dirty tricks from Oxfam now based in KENYA
I was a regular donor to Oxfam and have emails to prove it. I thought they were just a charity trying to help feed the world's poor but they are now engaging in political activities - like going woke - which means money from donors like me is NOT all going to help feed the poor but into other aims. They claim this new policy is to be more "inclusive", it isn't, it actually excludes people like me who use traditional terms which I consider perfectly normal and feel insulted when asked to use different terms. I raised this in an earlier review, About 3 months later, Oxfam objected. Trustpilot handled the matter really badly - have they gone "woke" as well? - and that review has now been taken down. It stinks to high heaven. By the way, many of the British public who have previously been very generous to Oxfam believe that it's headquarters are in the UK. It was founded in Oxford (hence the name) but is now listed as having its headquarters in NAIROBI, KENYA. I wonder how many British people would keep donating if they knew that. For me, Oxfam is now a dirty word and I no longer support them. I stuck with them after the "abuse crisis" but no longer, I think we would be better off without Oxfam. I shall now only support genuinely British charities.
Just had a response from Oxfam which isn't helpful. They seem to be claiming that it was Trustpilot who wanted the earlier review taken down. That is NOT true. Trustpilot told me that the request came from Oxfam so is integrity now part of this issue?

Avoid
Goods are far too expensive and staff in local branches (Liverpool and Leeds) exude an air of superiority, of entitlement - not values which charities reaching out to people should exude. Humility, gratitude, helpfulness are all the qualities that should be displayed by staff who work for charities. I would have thought that the sex scandal involving Oxfam employees in Haiti would have marked a shift towards this but it hasn't. I have stopped visiting Oxfam charity shops and would encourage people to focus on donating to smaller more local charities that engage with people in their communities such as local hospices.

Save money and support Oxfam actions
Always a great choice of quality second-hand clothing at good prices, interesting books and music and you might even find that elusive garlic press.
Alternatively, the "new product" range is a bit pricey in today's challenging buying power...
