Page Publishing is a nightmare! $4500 with nothing to show for it!

Page Publishing is a scam and their employees are highly unethical. I paid over $4,000 and got a never-ending cycle of delays, excuses, and missing deliverables. The process dragged on for more than two years, and then, with the project still not finished, they demanded an extra “renewal fee” to continue. That’s scam behavior: pay more or we won’t deliver what you already paid for. I paid it anyway just to remove their excuse, and it still didn’t fix anything. Scam on top of scam.

What makes this even worse is how many basics I still didn’t receive. I never got the printed books that were supposed to come with the package. I didn’t get the final, sale-ready ebook files you actually need to sell an ebook in stores—just an old draft-type PDF that’s not usable for real distribution. I was promised editable/source files more than once and never received them. The cover process was never properly completed with a final cover package. The “author website/page” and promotion help that were part of the pitch never materialized in any meaningful way. Even simple author name/metadata issues weren’t cleanly and consistently handled across the final materials.

Every time I pushed for what was owed, I got deflection like “it’s in the portal” or “contact your coordinator” instead of them simply delivering the files and finishing the job. My assistant reached out repeatedly and we still couldn’t get it resolved.

I’m calling it what it looks like: a scam, or at minimum a scam-like business model built around upsells, stalling, and holding your project hostage. Do not sign with them.

If you’ve also been scammed by Page Publishing and you already have a lawsuit (or are considering one), reach out—this should be a class-action.

Liars and thieves

Liars and thieves. That's all this company is. Did you know as the author they do not allow you to confirm book sales with the distributor? Thats a license to steal and I am sure they are taking full advantage of it. Before you sign the contract have an attorney look it over and I guarentee they will tell you to walk away. Everything in the contract is for their benefit, not the author's. Then they tampered with my manuscript to intentionally cause rewrites they then charge you for. Run from these people and do not trust them ever.

BEWARE if you want to submit a children's book!
I submitted a picture book. They accepted it. I told them I don't have an illustrator. They told me they had illustrators on staff. After all the paperwork and upfront payments, they sent me samples. They all looked very similar, which I now think was AI-generated. I didn't like the styles and sent in samples from other picture books that matched what I envisioned for my story. I don't remember them responding. They also said the amount I prepaid would provide 12 single-page illustrations or 6 double-paged illustrations. My book was going to be 36 pages long, and I would have to pay extra for more pages. I recinded my book and asked for a refund. They said they don't give refunds, but I could send in another manuscript. Now I have to submit a whole new manuscript just so I don't lose the money I paid! I won't submit another picture book, so I need to write something else!

Bad Experience

I’ve wrestled with whether to share this, but I feel compelled to speak out—if only to help someone else avoid the experience I endured.

From the very beginning, my journey with Page Publishing was marked by missteps. I was initially assigned an account manager who displayed little interest in my story and offered no meaningful guidance. It felt transactional and dismissive—especially disheartening for a first-time author pouring their heart into a dream. Thankfully, I was eventually paired with a new account manager who was everything I needed: engaged, empathetic, and truly helpful. Unfortunately, even her excellence couldn’t compensate for the broader systemic failures I encountered.

The most devastating blow came when my book was published with glaring errors—errors I had specifically flagged, with a clear directive not to proceed until corrections were made and I had given final approval. That directive was ignored. The book launched anyway. The result? A disastrous rollout, broken trust, and unfulfilled orders that, to this day, remain unresolved.

What should have been one of the proudest, most exciting moments of my life became a painful ordeal. Instead of a dream realized, I was left to pick up the pieces of a launch gone wrong. Page Publishing’s response—offering to replace a small batch of books—felt like a token gesture rather than meaningful accountability.

I share this not out of bitterness, but from a sense of duty to other aspiring authors. I had hoped Page Publishing would help me bring my vision to life. Instead, I found myself grieving the loss of what could have been.

Make your own decision. Do your research. But please—learn from my experience. I wouldn't wish it on anyone else.

Avoid at all costs!

Please do not waste your money with this company. I have to admit that I was so excited to publish my story that I didn't do any research on vanity publishing. I wish I could post the absolute disaster of a finished product that I received. I do not understand how the BBB gives this company an A+ rating. Do not send anything to this so-called publish company.

My editor was never available

My editor was never available. "My hands are tied," was her standard answer. The art department would not cooperate with the book cover. The editing was grammar school level. I have published three books with Page and looking for a new publisher for my fourth.

Crooks, stay away from this organization. I'm surprise that they still in the market.

Not what I Thought It Woud Be

My dream was to see the publishing of my memoir, "Figures, Story of My Life," which was the story of my life. I was a figure painter and I wrote about it and what things happened to me and what happened after that.

After I couldn't get a publisher to read my memior and then an agent wrote and said "this is unreadable", I went to the Internet to see how I could get it published. Pub Publishing was the first to respond, and said they'd like to publish it, but I didn't like the looks of them. They mostly published stuff like how to fix a boat and getting women on it.

So then after I contacted them, that's when things started to happen. Other publishers, hearing about my work, contacted me and soon there was a kind of a kind of bidding war. Page Publishing, with there really cool websight, won out, and soon I signed a contract to publish my meomir with them.

I worked with an editor who found all the typoes in my book and suggested some things I found out later to be bad advice, like putting some things in it that wernt true, like me doing "it" in a barn with sheep and stuff like that. I went along with it because I really trusted the editor, "Marshaw," and I really needed to get my greatest creation on print. So then I see soon and it's being marketed as a book about sex with farm animals and that's not what the book was about, at least not yet. It was about groin up in Wichita not on a farm but a convenient store. Marshaw said her boss needed more sex scenes and I said okay and she said with animals and I said wait what no, and she said sorry, just do it and the next book won't have to have any of it so I wrote a scene about doing it with a donkey and then a hog. That's better said the editor now what about a duck or something suprising. Now I don't know if any of you ever herd of a duck and a person doing it but I can asure you its not possible, trust me.

Even if you could who would want to read it? Come on I said at some point, do you want this book or not. Turns out they did, but it became this other book about farm animals and doing it with them and it was starting to sell, like A LOT, but then I didn't get a single royalty check until my friend the lawyer wrote them a letter threateneng to take them to court, of courts he wasn't going to do that, just blufing.

Then when the royalty check came it came with a note to send another manuscipt, and I did, my story about my ziplining accident, when I smashed against some rocks and went into a coma in Tennessee until someone found me and they took me to the hopsital. I never heard back from page, and then I heard they were a "vanity" publisher, which is you pay them and they publish your writing, not just the $5000 editing fee like they charged me, but more for promotions and things like that. And sure enough, yep, they wrote asking for more money. I was so dissapointed I never wrote back, just gosted them which is all they deserve.

Truly a grateful heart.

Truly a grateful heart. I want to thank Page Publishing for publishing three of my books and the fourth one that's in the early editing process. My dream of over forty-four years to see my latest book, "God's Divine Teachings," became a reality last year, 2023. I started writing this book in November 2016. It involved countless prayers and research in the Bible during writing each chapter of this book. With the Holy Spirit's guidance and help from Page Publishing my dream came true. Unfortunately, with the rising cost in the book publishing industry it is no longer accessible to me, a widow, that started writing in my golden years. I pray for my remaining volumes, three and four, on the "Adventures of Arabella" and my fifth novel that I am close to completing. Thanks again to Page Publishing for allowing an unknown writer like me to bring God's truths and values from the Bible to the world.

I am currently a writer who’s had an accepted manuscript this is my main concern right now. I have RA & I make a lot of typos unfortunately, I really need editing help most of all. To cut a long story short, when I received my manuscript back it looked like they done a pretty good job, however when it went to page design it was a disaster. Idk if it was a different editor or what but I was furious. I started wondering if this was done deliberately to delay the process to guarantee they get all my money paid in full which is pretty annoying. I was hoping it would be past the page design now & on to the cover if not already out in bookstores. If the book moves along then you can start getting paid before you’ve already completed your payment plan, which is great because that helps towards it. If it comes back a mess again then I’ll know for sure that it is.
Hopefully I’m wrong

My first novel, a great experience with Page Publishing.

All my expectations from Page Publishing were met without exception. My Coordinator Trevor was exceptional and kept me on track with a very professional approach. This was my first novel and I needed a lot of help and attention. Every question and concern I had was met with a prompt and good response. Trevor will be my first choice for my next novel. Thanks to all at Page Publishing for the excellent job they did with my book: Abduction in the valley

I have published 8 thrillers with Page the most recent "Swinging Gates"…

I have published 8 thrillers with Page Publishing working with the same professional coordinator Nicole, who always responds to my calls or text messages. While no one company is perfect, the key to success is communication and a willingness to work together to make the outcome something you can be proud of. My most recent thriller required hard work to satisfy my personal desire on the cover and they didn't blink, just worked to make it happen. Kenneth L. Dempsey

Will use them again!

I published my second book, a biography of late British actor Jeremy Brett, with Page Publishing in 2018. They are a hybrid publisher, meaning they screen submissions before offering a contract. I was very satisfied with their professionalism, responsiveness, and friendly assistance throughout the process. With enough savvy and time, one can self publish. Without either, Page offers needed help!
