Deception on the part of Paul Rigby Birmingham
Got my car back today from Paul Rigby in Birmingham and they never carried out any of the work quoted, but I was still charged for this. I also never received any calls to when they would pick up my car. This dealership seems to have gone downhill and provides little or no service at all. Its such an expensive car I bought and now the service feels like a real let down. It used to be a good dealership at one point. Will never use again and this is a warning for others.
Update 13/06/2025 - All my issues rectified by Volvo now, which was better, so hopefully there will be improvements.
Really poor service experience
We own Volvo cars since 2017 and used West London Volvo as well as TMS services in Midlands. Had to visit Paul Rigby Birmingham for a diagnostic and possible fix the day before we were travelling abroad and was told to drop the car and it will be looked during the day. Despite I turned up just after 8, mentioned over the phone booking and on the day that I travelled from far, my car was not even moved from the parking space for 4 hours; forget about being seen! Never again...

Typical sales team, tell you anything to get the money then walk away when things need sorting, very poor service.
No Customer Service
1st time I am writing about Paul Rigby Erdington, but not the 1st time I have received poor service.
I have phoned up to book my car in for either a service or an issue with car.
Each time I have called service department have been to busy and call was diverted to sales who promise that my details would be passed to service.
1st time in November 2024 took 3 days to receive a call back after chasing each day.
27th April I have been chasing to book my car in and promised a call back it’s now 3 days no call back.
I phoned quik fit yesterday and booked my car in this morning.
The service from Paul Rigby Erdington is very poor and my car is due to change in 4 months and I would not purchase from this garage
I recently broke down in my Volvo XC60…
I recently broke down in my Volvo XC60 on the M42 just north of Birmingham three days after a major £570 service at my local Volvo dealer. My dashboard advised in red of ‘no oil pressure and to stop as soon as safely possible. I contacted Volvo Assist who arranged recovery to Paul Rigby Volvo Birmingham. On arrival the garage was very busy, despite this I was dealt with incredibly promptly and efficiently and my car was in their workshop on the ramp within 45 minutes of arrival. The problem was diagnosed and explained to me by a knowledgeable service manager and very experienced mechanic. Unfortunately the oil leak was caused by an incorrectly fitted oil filter seal at the major service I had had three days earlier! Many thanks to Callum, Carl and Elle you all get a 10/10 and my next new Volvo will definitely be coming from you. The dispute is ongoing with my local

Friendly staff, poor service
The staff are friendly and helpful: booking appointments is easy and they stick to the times.
Removed stars as took it in for warranty repair and end of day 1 was told that the part wasn’t there despite being order 3 weeks before, so couldn’t collect it, end of day 2 told still being worked on. Collected 3rd day and car was filthy as even though I request a wash it wasn’t, also asked if they could check the software update (dealer has 3.2.8 over my 3.1.9) and this wasn’t done either. Also, collected it and they were efficient, handed me keys in minutes of getting there but no apology for the car taking 3 days as opposed to 1. Small things but frustrating.
Second visit 4 days as same excuse above. Still didn’t wash it despite asking.
Third visit, did it in a day - yay! But booked as a 3 hour wait booking and instead had to go home to collect at 4:30 - NOT washed yet again AND noise is still there so trying to book it in again
Customer Service
Tried to book my car in for repair. They rarely answer the phone and when they did I was told the receptionist would send a message to the service department for a callback. Hour later I had to call back. Another message sent to the service department. When I finally got a call back the person taking my book was curt and rude. Some customer services training wouldn’t go amiss. Dismiss this review if you like, however take a look at your trust pilot reviews. I will be going to TMS next time, a far better service.

We took our cars in for service and MoT and within 24 hours had changed our cars with the help and assistance of Bradley. He is very knowledgeable and helpful; a great salesman without being pushy who worked hard to secure fair deals for all.

Our experience with buying a used Volvo from Sam M and Maral at Paul Rigby Volvo Stourbridge was oustanding (especially compared to our experiences with literally every other dealership we've spoken to across multiple dealership groups and car brands during our hunt for a new car).
Sam, Maral and everyone at this dealership we spoke to was an absolute breathe of a fresh air. Extremely easy-going & friendly yet highly knowledgeable, professional and always looking to do everything possible to help (from addressing our concerns to answering our annoying technical questions in detail).
Sam and Maral also ensured the car was well-prepped for sale and all of our requests dealt with quickly and before our arrival for collection. Thanks again for all the help guys! We love our new XC40 and now know where to go for anything Volvo related!
5 Star Experience
My experience with Paul Rigby Volvo Chester Road Birmingham started when I requested a test drive of an XC40 some time ago.
Upon arrival, my wife and I were asked if we would like a drink by the friendly receptionist.
Then Ismail explained all the fundamental details of the car in an informative and friendly manner, followed by a decent test drive.
Some time later I ordered a B4 and went for the handover.
I was greeted once again by the lady at the Reception and introduced to Matt Hall who recapped on everything about the car and confidently answered all my queries.
Matt could not have been more helpful, following a further test drive and taking the time to set up my phone link with the car and informing me of other potential services on offer at Volvo.
Overall, a great experience from start to finish and I can confidently recommend Paul Rigby Volvo Chester Road in all respects.
Poor customer service
My car got recovered here after it broke down while at the dealership getting repaired it was damaged. the service manager then lied saying the damaged could of never happened there refused to send me a copy of the inspection report saying the damaged was already there .
Do not trust this dealership all smiles and happy for you to buy the cars but as soon as you have paid there customer service and good attitude towards customers is straight out the window rude dismissive and compete lies

My dissatisfaction with the service I received from the Service Manager Neil at Paul Rigby during my recent visits.The Service Manager Neil was dismissive and unhelpful, making me feel as though my concerns were not valued.
His manner was condescending, which I found both unprofessional and disrespectful.
Most concerning, they provided inaccurate information, specifically regarding my previous two visits. I was told that these visits had not occurred, despite having clear records of my interactions.
This behavior has not only left me frustrated but also made me question the level of service at your establishment. I believe every customer deserves respect and clear communication, and my experience did not meet these standards. i would avoid this delership at all costs
Good cars but awful customer service for Motability customers
This was the first time I had ordered a Motability car from Paul Rigby and I experienced nothing but problems which resulted in making a complaint to a manager.
I made numerous phone calls but Motability staff were never available, so I left messages for them to phone back, but they never did. I sent online messages through their website but never had a reply. I visited on a Sunday only to be told the Motability staff never work on Sundays despite the dealership being open, so disabled customers were turned away on Sundays. Eventually I did make contact after making a complaint, and arranged an appointment to book a Motability car. I was told the car was ready for collection, but no-one contacted me to arrange an appointment to collect it despite myself making numerous phone calls.
I was then told the appointment to collect my new car would be 2 January so I arrived only to be told the computer says the collection was actually on 3 January. I was now prepared to cancel the entire order and go elsewhere, but the staff agreed to bring my new Motability car to my house, and which the hand-over process was completed with no problems.
There just seems to be a complete lack of communication between the dealership and Motability customers, and it is a fight to try and speak to anyone by phone. Having problems with my health is bad enough, but the problems with ordering the car has just caused more stress and upset. The actual Volvo cars are wonderful and very high quality so I am pleased with the car, but my experience was let down by the poor customer service at Paul Rigby.

I’ve just recently purchased I’ve Volvo cx40 cannot forward the company at the moment The salesman Sam Martin was excellent in every way he even explained he was new to the company but he made me feel real comfortable in purchasing a car. He could answer all my questions and didn’t make me feel pressured in any way of buying the car. I can’t express if I’ve had difficulty in anything because every question I asked him he could answer and he sorted everything I need doing, I will 100% recommendation

Absolutely disgusted with Paul Rigby Volvo dealership!!! Purchased an XC90 R Design 2019 from an independent dealer in Bolton. It had full volvo service history and had just had £1000 service with timing belt change full mot etc with Volvo Bolton. Had a slight hick up my washer wiper water seemed to be blocked. After I'd only driven for a week. Dealer agreed to pay to have it fixed....
Great booked in at Paul Rigby £162 fixed....BUT imagine my shock when service man Callum advised me of two things wrong with the vehicle and stated 'it would fail an mot on both??? Imagine my shock it had passed weeks before.
Lower arm ball joints on the suspension quoted excessive play £927.36 and exhaust leaking??? no quote but he said would need welding. Stated the car wasn't road worthy when I explained I had horses and towed.
Volvo Bolton shocked at this so was dealer who sold me car, when i advised them. I booked an unambiguous check of the vehicle with a volvo specialist. Guest What!!!
