Charged $5,000 with no article (not truly "pay-on-results")
I had a very disappointing experience with Pathos Communications and would strongly caution others before working with them.
Their entire pitch is “pay-on-results PR,” meaning you only pay after successful publication. This was also explicitly confirmed in writing during onboarding, where they stated billing would only occur after successful publication.
In my case, an article was briefly published on MSN but was taken down shortly afterward. It was republished and then removed again, and it is currently not accessible anywhere. At this point, there is no live article and no lasting PR placement.
Despite this, I was still charged a total of $5,000.
The agreement clearly states that payment is only due if publication is successful, and that nothing is owed if the contract terms are not met. A temporary article that is removed and no longer exists does not meet any reasonable definition of a successful deliverable.
I gave the company significant time to resolve the issue and republish the article properly, but this was never completed.
If you are considering working with a “pay-on-results” PR firm, I would strongly recommend clarifying exactly what qualifies as a successful result and whether you are protected if content is removed after publication.
Total scam
Total scam. I recorded the video call with the guy. Set the interview time. They didn’t call at the actual time. Wrote an AI article on the wrong topic. I requested to talk to the guy I started with on the video. They wouldn’t allow it. And then tried to hit my card for a grand. Then $500 twice. One $500 went through, the other didn’t. I had to cancel my card. Total scam. I bet they are batting a thousand on “getting place” (published) on their “pay on results” bs. I can’t get anyone to respond to me at all. They are a ghost now.

Complete scam of a company
Complete scam of a company. They bury negative reviews with fake positive ones and do not adhere to FCC regulations. They've continued to harass me via email and text despite submitting multiple formal requests to NOT be contacted. Beware and run far, they are not legitimate.
Vanity PR is of low value
Pathos Communication start with a very slick sales patter. Once they sign you up they rapidly construct a nice puff piece article about how good you are. They then quickly place the same piece in some low traffic sites and debit your credit card. The article certainly looks good on your screen but the real PR value is very low or non-existent. I would avoid them.

I have been contacted by this company totally unsolicited twice. I do not know where they have got my information from including my first name and personal telephone number but this is most certainly not a route I would trust to have anything published.

I would highly recommend staying away from Pathos.
Here’s how they scammed me:
1) cold emailed me about their services
we set up a call, they offer three major Canadian publications (which is what I want) globe and mail, Toronto star, the national.
2) they ask for a credit card for a $1 charge (just to have on file).
3) they make some aweful story about my business. Seems AI generated.
4) on the last call, they flip the script and say we are publishing you in some random US investment paper (which I don’t want or care for). I say “no”. They say “ok”
5) one month later then leave a voicemail “we are charging your card for publishing in US investment publisher”
6) can’t call them, won’t reply to emails, charged me $4k, didn’t deliver.
I can’t tell if they are a very sophisticated scam or just so incredibly incompetent to follow through on what they promised.
Either way, had to dispute the charge. Now dealing with my credit card issuers.
Fun times
This is a total scam
This is a total scam. I have a non profit for extremely vulnerable individuals. We do not have money to throw away. They told me they would write a really good article and then put it out to see who picked it up. They show you all these WSJ, Forbes, etc logos making you think that you have a chance. They have a site they publish everything on IBtimes.com. They tell you you have to pay the 5k the moment it is published. They spoke to me for about 75 minutes in total, wrote the article and said they would see who picked it up. Once it is immediately published in IBtimes you are done. Charged. They had a follow up meeting to show me how to use the article on social media, probably were going to charge for that too, the first meeting was 2 weeks out...because of the holidays. Do no think they are working to get you published, they are working to get you published in that one site, charge you and move on. No evidence of any further efforts take place. I hope they feel good scamming a non profit helping trafficked individuals.
