It is completely normal to feel like nothing has happened, but major updates have just been announced (March 30, 2026) regarding car finance claims.
The reason for the long silence is that the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) paused lenders from dealing with complaints while they investigated the scale of hidden commissions.
Here is the current status as of April 2026:
The Pause Ends Soon: The pause on lenders handling complaints is scheduled to lift on May 31, 2026.
A Redress Scheme is Confirmed: The FCA has confirmed a compensation scheme for people mis-sold car finance between 6 April 2007 and 1 November 2024.
When to Expect News:
Loans from April 2014: The scheme begins June 30, 2026.
Loans before April 2014: The scheme begins August 31, 2026.
