rarely leave reviews, but I feel like people need to be warned about my experience with Pinnacle Warranties.
I’ve had two major mechanical failures on my vehicle—a timing chain failure before 60,000 miles and a turbo failure at around 70,000 miles. Both of these are serious issues that you would reasonably expect a warranty to cover.
However, both claims were rejected.
The reason given each time? “Wear and tear.”
This makes absolutely no sense. A timing chain failing before 60,000 miles is not normal wear and tear, and neither is a turbo failing at 70,000 miles—especially when the car has been properly maintained. I’ve already raised these points with them multiple times, but they’ve been completely ignored.
Both garages agreed it is not down to wear and tear the vehicle had full service history and happened due to parts of the car failing (looking into this further they are common faults for this particular model of car and is not down to wear and tear but due to mechanical failure .
What’s most frustrating is that this is exactly why you take out a warranty in the first place—to protect yourself from costly, unexpected mechanical failures. Yet it seems that no matter what it is they simply refuse to pay out and put everything down to “wear and tear”
In my experience, this warranty has been a complete waste of money. Based on how my claims were handled, it feels like they will find any reason not to cover repairs, no matter how valid the claim is.
I would strongly advise others to think very carefully before purchasing a policy with them.

This response is not correct and does not reflect what actually happened.
On both occasions, the vehicle suffered a sudden mechanical failure, and on both occasions my claims were rejected and incorrectly classified as “wear and tear.”
You state that the most recent failure was due to an internal seal and therefore not covered. However, the seal was not the actual issue requiring repair — it led to a sudden mechanical failure which left the vehicle inoperable. Your own policy states that you cover sudden mechanical failure, which is exactly what occurred.
This was not wear and tear. A timing chain failed at under 60,000 miles, which is widely recognised as a lifetime component and should not fail at such low mileage. The turbo also failed at around 70,000 miles. Both of these were sudden failures, not gradual wear and tear.
It is unreasonable to repeatedly reject claims by labelling them as “wear and tear,” while ignoring the fact that both incidents involved sudden mechanical failure of the vehicle.

To be honest, I was unsure about these warranties, would they pay out etc? Well I needed them and they did, no fuss and sorted the payment out for the repairs quickly, I even renewed with them because of this.
Although I haven't needed to claim this year, I'm sure I'd get the same service.
They will find a reason not to cover you, you might aswell save your money to pay for any repairs.

Pinnacle Warranties turned down my claim. That’s the nature of warranties - some things are covered, some things aren’t. What I’m unhappy about is that they didn’t even submit my claim to their engineering department to be assessed until they had made me take it to the garage THREE times for diagnostics. Which means I’m now going to be charged for three visits when they had enough information from the first visit to determine the repair wasn’t covered. As it wasn’t even a major claim, that means I’ll be paying almost twice what I would have had to if they hadn’t been involved. Their communication was awful as well. I had to keep chasing them and most of the time I only knew what was going on because the garage updated me. I would strongly advise avoiding this company

Only offered to pay £90 towards the bill. I've not been to a garage that have charged me less that £100 for 10 years so don't know where your getting the work done for £90.
Told me to buy a cheaper part off them.
Whole process took over 2 week
It's the first warreny iv bought and I will never buy one again.
Not worth the paper it's written on.

My husband purchased his new to him Volvo in July 2025 which came with warranty.
When renewal came through he was ambivalent about renewing, until I looked into the details of coverage.
The cover on offer is very comprehensive and with the option to pay monthly made it easier to include this option into our budget.
After a bit of confusion about my husband’s account details Channtal quickly sorted everything out.
With the cost of motoring going up this policy offers additional peace of mind at a reasonable price.

Bought a car with the warranty included. Had problems with the driver side door electrics and a coolant leakage within the time of cover. They insisted I get diagnostics done and that I would be fully reimbursed.
Got a (£66) quote for repairs only to be told that the wiring issue on the door (which I had discussed on the phone to them) wasn't covered. The time the garage needs for the repair of the thing that was covered was deemed 'incorrect' and I was allocated a mere £25 for 30 minutes work, on a job that would take an hour and a half. In short I was sold a car with faults and I am now just under £300 out of pocket because this company will only cover repairs to your car in the same way US health companies call having an arm a 'pre-existing condition'. They may be operating with in the law by they are, in spirit, total scammers. If you have a choice to go with them, DON'T.
