Don't buy if you expect aftercare

We had a very positive sales experience when purchasing our first motorhome from Preston Caravans & Motorhomes. The salesman was patient, helpful, and supportive while we sorted out the finance. Unfortunately, the after-sales service has been nothing short of disappointing. Upon delivery, we discovered several items were missing: the dining table, sink cover, garage shelf, and various external covers/plugs. We had specifically discussed these covers with the salesman around six weeks before collection. We were assured the parts would be ordered, with an expected lead time of 12–13 weeks as they were coming directly from the manufacturer. Three weeks after taking ownership, we reported a fault with the leisure battery display, which constantly showed one bar and never indicated charging. We were told this was likely a vehicle fault and advised to book it into a Ford dealership. While we understood they couldn’t work on the Ford systems themselves, we received no assistance in locating a suitable dealer capable of handling a motorhome of this size. Worse still, when we got to the Ford dealership, technicians immediately identified that the genuine Ford battery had been removed and replaced with a substandard aftermarket battery. They refused to inspect the vehicle further until the correct battery was fitted, warning that the warranty would be voided otherwise. We had to contact Preston ourselves and push repeatedly for them to resolve this. After a full day of chasing (spent sitting in a cold, wet industrial estate), we ended up buying the correct battery ourselves and later claiming the cost back. Ten months on, the battery display fault remains unresolved, and Preston does not accept it as a vehicle fault. The missing parts situation was equally frustrating. It required constant emails and phone calls on our part to get any progress. Communication was poor, we were usually the ones chasing them. The dining table and sink cover finally arrived after around six months. The garage shelf arrived after ten months… and was the wrong size. At this point, I’ve given up and will make one myself. However, the worst part of the entire experience was dealing with the Aftersales Manager. He initially came across as apologetic and polite, but his tone changed dramatically when we started questioning delays and providing our own records of dates and promises. He became noticeably rude and dismissive, at one point telling us to stop emailing him and that they would contact us when there was any update. He twice refused to provide the Managing Director’s contact details or escalate the matter himself. To their credit, communication improved in the final three months thanks to a helpful lady in the parts department who provided regular updates. However, this came far too late. We have now cut our losses with Preston Caravans & Motorhomes, even though two original issues remain unresolved. I would strongly caution anyone considering buying from this dealer to think very carefully about the after-sales support you may receive. Excellent sales team, extremely poor aftercare.

Purchase of Weinsberg Caraone 400lk

We recently bought our Weinsberg Caraone 400lk from Preston Caravans and Motorhomes. This was a very good/positive experience which I would like to share. Paul Parkinson was the staff member who dealt with the purchase from start to end. Paul was very straight forward, knowledgeable and never pressured us. The handover was thorough, leaving us confident to start our trips. Having had the caravan a few months now, I can say it's faultless. Highly recommend.

Had to cancel a motorhome order as my…

Had to cancel a motorhome order as my father passed suddenly abroad. Phoned multiple times and failed to return the call after attempt number 5 finally got through to Dan Short, no problem explained the situation and asked to put it in writing.

Sent a email explaining the full situation and correspondence from the foreign commonwealth wealth development office.

Never once even got a reply nor a response acknowledge my email.

Avoid. Typicaly spot on when ordering but when anything happens your just a number.

My advice for future customers - Shop arround & Check reviews as not jusy me who has been bumped! 👍🏻👍🏻

Don’t trust Mark Shaw. Mark Shaw Sales Manager from Preston…

Mark Shaw Sales Manager from Preston caravans promised us our deposit back of £2.000. if we came from Glasgow to Preston to see a motor home and it wasn’t what we wanted (his exact words). We went down and didn’t want the motor home. Mark Shaw also said when we were down in Preston that we would get our refund back. After cancelling the sale he has went back on his word and told us we’re not getting our £2,000. back. Phoned to speak to the sale director but can’t as he got Mark Shaw to phone us back. Please don’t pay any deposit to Preston Caravans because they don’t want to give you it back if u cancel.

After looking at a few awnings Gill…

After looking at a few awnings Gill showed us the seasonal Isabella Nordic, its quite an expense but so well worth it and glad of Gills expertise, she really is so pleasant and knowledgeable. From buying our caravan and awning from Prestons any of our teething problems have been dealt with. Our awning is up now and furnished to how we want it, a real comfortable home from home. Massive thank you to everyone involved especially Gill we would have been lost without her. Always made welcome whenever we visit.

After being fobbed off by Glossop…

After being fobbed off by Glossop caravans I'd like to thank yourselves for a professional service in supplying me a new internal wall panel it's nice to know you can buy elddis parts without having a gun put to your head for them to fit it or you won't supply 10 out of 10 for your help today thank you

Unsatisfactory aftersales

The sales experience was OK - no real issues and delivered a new 'van without a problem but the aftersales Hab check at £299 was poor. Apart from the extremely inappropriate attitude of the youngish male onsite admin the 'van actually gained faults! They left the gas only loosely connected, they left the roof vent open, the table wasn't stowed correctly and mysteriously when I come to use the grey water drain tap a month or so later it has seized up. You might get a fair price but aftersales is not recommended.

Highly recommend......Well what can I…

Highly recommend......Well what can I say but nothing other than 1st class service from start to finish. We purchased our very first caravan, our beautiful Swift Elegance Grande 835 and was was given every bit of advice and help, nothing was too much trouble. We would like to mention Chris, Ryan, Katy, Gill, Lisa and Dan thank you all so much you all went above and beyond. Looking forward to seeing you all again in the near future

Deal with this company at your peril

Deal with this company at your peril. They’re quite happy to take your money as long as there are no problems but get a problem and they will deny there is a problem which they did with me even though I had shown them evidence of a leak on my fresh water tank by video and also a solar panel they fitted had a fault .I dared to complain and was banned from going there again and they refused to take on the repair under warranty after telling me my warranty was with them providing I paid for hab checks with them .I duly had 2 consecutive hab checks but they won’t do the work and told me to go elsewhere .Avoid like the plague . PS the vehicle was purchased from them . Their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced .

I have a new swift challenger from this…

I have a new swift challenger from this company and it’s sited on holiday park not far from there depot last Friday we went to the holiday park for a few days on arriving we noticed that the heating wasn’t working it was very cold I contacted the dealer and spoke to a technician he was of little help and we still couldn’t get the heating working I contacted them again Saturday again speaking to a technician he said he couldn’t help and would ask his manager to get in touch with me and he would sort everything out,no one called and I was left to sort out the problem myself at a cost 💲 the problem was with the Aldi heating system the drain bung was leaking and most of the antifreeze had leaked out hence no heating,very shameful service totally let down,definitely would not recommend Preston caravans !!!
