I returned a van with some minor cosmetic damage to the rear doors. I did not dispute that the damage existed or that I should contribute towards any reasonable repair costs.

I was initially informed verbally that the repair would cost around £700, allegedly following efforts to reduce the price on my behalf. However, despite repeated requests, I was not provided with a labour breakdown, copies of the underlying repair quotations or any indication of when the repair work would be carried out.

Some time later, the claimed repair cost reduced to £348, again with limited supporting information. Having sought independent views from third parties, I was advised that the likely cost of repairing the damage would be significantly lower and comfortably within the £200 deposit that had already been paid.

In an effort to resolve matters, I offered to allow the company to retain the £200 deposit in full and final settlement. That proposal was not accepted.

My frustration was not with being asked to pay for damage, but with the lack of transparency around how the claimed repair costs were calculated and the apparent absence of supporting information when requested.

I'm sure many customers have positive experiences, and mine may be an exception. However, based on my experience, I would urge prospective customers to exercise caution, ensure that any alleged damage is properly documented, and seek a detailed breakdown of any repair costs that are claimed.

After our car broke down we needed a replacement quickly and for at least 3 weeks. We phoned up and got to their premises about half hour before they closed. The guy who booked us out was friendly and very helpful with the technical aspects of booking out the car. We had the controls etc explained and set off. We had to extend the lease by 4 days which was easily managed. Returning the vehicle was really straightforward. 10 minutes and we were done

Hired a LWB van yesterday. The whole process from initial telephone booking ( thanks to Marie, so helpful)to return was so easy. First class customer service from Keegan who provided a comprehensive vehicle handover. The van was in showroom condition. On return Keegan promptly processed the details. The LWB was great for my needs , the collection of the van was very slow .i would suggest the vehicle walk round check be done before the customer arrives or done with the customer via video so speed up the process., and the same when returning the vehicle, the van in question is a working van yet PSD seemed to go over the top taking pictures s if it were high top end vehicle . My booking email required 2 proofs of address one must be a bank statement and the other a utility bill , my on line banking shows my home address yet PSD wanted to see a bank statement with my bank balance on it which I felt uncomfortable showing, and sending them Via Email with my bank balance , if the customer hasn’t got funds to pay surely the bank would decline payment

I am a private hirer for family removals, rubbish clearing, etc and have used PSD several times in the last few years; long and short wheelbase and jumbo vans. I have always found the service friendly and efficient and customer focussed. I have never had any problem with a vehicle, on the contrary, the one I hired over the past weekend had a couple of thousand miles on the clock and was top notch.

Ive found using PSD st helens really reliable and cost effective.They managed to find me a van at short notice whilst my own van was being serviced and repaired at a local garage . This meant i can be back in work straight away .Friendly staff and the process was quick and easy.
