Bendon came out to see us after we'd hit a rock and unseated our tiller. As we've found with nothing is to much trouble, very friendly and knowledgeable. Got us fixed and showed me how to sort if it happens again.
Can't recommend having CRC support and piece of mind to any boater......
Were there when we needed them. After looking into my engine bay after cruising to see the contents of my gear box sump in the bilge I was slightly miffed. A call to RCR and an engineer was designated to attend. I was kept fully informed of their progress and Mark called me to give me an ETA. When he arrived, with his side kick Freddie, he went to town on the job at hand explaining to me fully what he was going to do, how he was going to do it and what he expected the outcome to be. Unbeknownst to me I had already fixed the problem but their help and advice was invaluable and very welcome. Job jobbed and off they went. They even offered to dispose of the oil soaked rags I’d used to clean the bilge. A follow up call later from their HQ and we were on our way again. Wouldn’t be without them. Excellent service. Previously to this we had our engine serviced and checked over by RCR, Mark again, and this service was brilliant. Couldn’t be faulted.

We've just had an annual engine inspection carried out by Brendan. He was very friendly and professional and did a thorough inspection. All was good with the engine so hopefully we'll have a trouble free year. Well done RCR, first class service as always. If you are not a member I highly recommend joining. 🙂

Joined these and when I needed them, they took my engine and control box to pieces and said they were going to get parts and never returned, Got a call of them a week later demanding full payment or they wouldn't be coming bk to put my engine back together they are scum that blackmail you with substandard workers that know nothing about what they are doing, AVOID THESE AT ALL COST terrible service terrible customer service they won't provide what their websites states, If could give a the 0 it would be had the gold membership which should cover everything it covers nothing be warned ppl

Engine and gearbox service from engineer Kane. Arrived on time, serviced engine and gearbox promptly and cleaned up afterwards. Excellent service.

from the first phone call about our breakdown on Friday to fixing the issue today with the new part RCR has been amazing - they even offered to get us water and food should we need it which is way above anything we expected. Brilliant Service!

I was very impressed with RCR - when my gearbox was leaking, I called and a friendly, pleasant, knowledgeable engineer had got to me and resolved the problem - with the correct part - within two and a half hours of my making the call. OK, it was a simple fix, but it would likely have cost me £100s (and hassle) to get it seen to and resolved in a boatyard. I consider the membership (silver) to have paid for itself already, and they charged me an additional £5 for the seal - again, very reasonable. It makes me feel much more confident if (when!) something goes wrong again in future. Top marks.

I was having starting problems with my narrow boat and urgently need the problem resolved. The engine would start eventually on the key after multiple attempts. Because of I was going to be crossing the wash on a prebooked day I need the engine starting 100%. I had a three day window to get this sorted.
Mark the engineer arrived and had diagnosed the problem quickly, a new starter motor. The starter motor had to be ordered
(1 to 2days) and Mark had promised as soon as he received it he would come fit it. True to his word he was at my boat early in the morning. He fitted the starter motor and all was good.
I have used River and Canal Rescue numerous times and have always been very satisfied.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience as a customer of RCR. I signed up for their Silver Membership expecting reliable emergency assistance — especially for serious issues like a gas leak. When I called in an emergency, it took five days before an engineer came out, leaving me in an unsafe and unacceptable situation.
Despite this, I was told over the phone that my Silver Membership would be kept and the callout fee refunded. Now I’ve been informed that my membership is being cancelled, and the service I paid for was not delivered in the way it should have been.
Looking at their website, I see they have just increased all membership prices. The CEO was abrupt and rude to me over the phone, showing no concern at all that I had a gas leak — not the kind of customer service I expected from a company presenting itself as a rescue service. They should not portray themselves as being charitable or associated with charities when my experience was anything but charitable.

Having a car I have always been a member of a breakdown company due to having to drive over 300 miles to my family when my children were small.
It made perfect sense to me to join the river rescue canal trust since I knew nothing at all about boats, engines and diesel bug. OMG! What a short and steep learning curve it has been. Though I wouldn’t say for a moment I am clued up even now I would not have got by without the RCR.
We have owned our boat for four years and day one left a marina and less than 25 yards we broke down on the river Stort in freezing weather and it was a bank holiday. We had not had the time to join the RCR but they allowed us to join straight away and promptly came to our aid.
I can honestly state from my experience the whole team is a five star outfit, from the friendly voice and reassurance from the initial phone which is always answered promptly. You are always kept informed where the engineer is. They offer a welfare pack of essentials if you need them. The engineers are all very knowledgeable, polite and efficient.
I seriously would not have enjoyed our boating experience as much without our guardian angels of the canals and rivers looking out for us. In our opinion they are an elite team very probably underestimated by many. I would 100% recommend their services for every boater as they are well worth every penny.
