Where do I start?
If your item is not as described and looks nothing like the picture…….tough! You won’t be refunded for your outgoing postage and you won’t get a return label or be refunded/partially refunded for your return postage. I wish I’d read the reviews 🙄. I’ll also be leaving this review on Bennetts of Derby as when I paid through PayPal, it wasn’t Sands I paid it was Bennetts. Also don’t bother calling because they don’t answer the phone. You have to call Bennetts of Derby to be able to speak to someone and they will tell Sands to contact you. I spoke to Paul from Bennetts who was really nice and asked Debbie from Sands to email me. Debbie was also nice over email but leaving a customer out of pocket because they sent sub standard goods is appalling. Also, I stupidly tried to sort things out with them myself first. I was going to give them another chance and buy another set because they’d been nice but when she told me there’s no return label I said I wouldn’t buy another set. I waited for my refund and it was only partial, minus the postage. I emailed again asking if they are going to refund postage and was told no. I called PayPal and they said my buyers protection has run out and I should have called PayPal straightaway and not returned the items. I’m fuming with myself that I gave these people a chance rather than going to PayPal immediately. Because I’ve been with PayPal for over 17 years and never had an issue like this they very kindly gave a goodwill gesture of crediting me with my outgoing postage. They unfortunately couldn’t help with my return postage. I’m really annoyed that Sands and Bennetts have got away with sending out shoddy goods and it hasn’t cost them a penny. They can now carry on sending them out to other customers now because they know they can get away with it. I hope future customers read these reviews and either buy from somewhere else or buy from here but go straight to PayPal within 30 days if there’s a problem. I think it’s very telling that I’ve been buying things online for over 17 years and only had a problem here.

Firstly Debbie, find out what I’m dealing with before saying I take my time replying. I’ll happily tell you what I’m having to deal with outside of speaking to you. Secondly, glass houses. You’re not very fast at replying with your messages and you never answer the phone. I had to ask Paul to contact you and you didn’t waste any time answering then, did you? Lightening response when the boss is involved. Also, I stand by my description of “shoddy” because they are. You saying that all of your stock hardly has any bubbles and all look the same to me means you bought a job lot of Broste seconds that they can’t sell “cheap”. Your tone is trying to make me sound like I couldn’t possibly know what I was talking about etc etc. I already own Broste glasses. I sent you a photo for comparison. Your response was basically because my glasses are smaller that’s why there looks like there’s more bubbles. What a load of rubbish! Mine are 35cl and yours were 50cl. Mine are absolutely beautiful and full of bubbles just like the picture that advertised them. Yours were nothing like the picture that you advertised. So please, before you start acting like you’re a Broste expert and I’m some pauper who doesn’t know what they’re on about, get your facts right. I explained everything to your boss Paul and he said he’s really sorry I wasn’t happy and it’ll be put right. The fact you called Broste for information is not some massive grand gesture, it’s your job. If a customer isn’t happy then you try to put it right, that’s what any decent person would do. Do you want a medal for actually having to do some work instead of spending your days NOT answering the phone to unhappy customers? Like I told you, if I went in your shop for Broste glasses and saw those on the shelf I would not have picked them up and I certainly would not have bought them. Your response to my original reply is just clutching at straws because you have so many upset customers you thought you’d try and fire back at me. It’s sad that because customers live so far away you decide to send them (and I’ll say it again) “shoddy” goods because you know if they complain, you’ll lose nothing, the customer will lose postage. Finally, I see you’re speaking for other businesses, saying everyone is like you and doesn’t pay return postage when something is not as described? I’m fairly certain that’s just you and maybe a handful of businesses Debbie. Potential customers need to know what they’re dealing with if they’re shopping with you. You’ve admitted that if an item doesn’t match your picture then that’s not your problem. It just means you will send any tat you can’t get rid of to an unsuspecting online customer. REPLY - I can only comment on what you sent me and you sent me sub par shoddy items unlike the picture.

Recently ordered a lagoon chaise longue…
Recently ordered a lagoon chaise longue module sofa. Had been searching ages for the perfect sofa and not really found what I was after…until I landed on Sand. The product arrived swiftly and exactly as you would expect from a company that takes great pride in delivery and customer service. Will definitely be adding more pieces to my home very soon.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
Do not use this company! Paid £319 for an in stock lamp and waited weeks but no sign, contacted the company to see what was going on to be told it has been discontinued yet no one bothered to inform us, happy to keep our £319 though! Asked for a refund, they don't answer calls, they barely respond to emails unless you keep at them, the Manager told us our refund had been processed but here we are still no sign of it. Next step contacting bank as a scam / fraudulent company and then trading standards.
Do not use this company
I cancelled an order when notified of a delay in delivery. This company tried to charge 25%restocking fee including a PayPal fee. I persisted in pointing out the Distance Selling laws which they just ignored and tried to bully me into waiting for the order . I passed this complaint to PayPal with full documentation of all communications. It took PayPal about 10minutes to refund all my money . Total scam to charge over £70 for doing nothing! I canceled within 3 minutes of delay notification. Do not buy from this company they have nothing in stock and then ignore the Consumer Laws. Attitude was unhelpful and obstructing. I wish I had looked at reviews before I ordered. PayPal is the only way to shop with a supplier you don’t know. I think if I hadn’t I would have had to take them to Court whilst nearly £300 sat in their bank account. Appalling service.
Gift voucher fiasco now resolved
Updated 16th January 2025
This has now been resolved with a new gift card enabled and feedback given about how the system has been changed to ensure this doesn’t not occur again.

I ordered a gift voucher in July 2024 for a friends birthday, £50 was debited from my account but apart from an order confirmation number, I have received nothing that enables the voucher to be spent. My friend's birthday came and went and I purchased an alternative gift. I have had months of messages on the contact page, but the only response I have received, back in September 2024 was that I would not be able to receive a refund for a gift voucher when I requested one. So, I cannot receive a refund and I have no way of spending the voucher, and Sand of Cornwall does not respond. Would not recommend and feel my only recourse now is to pursue through Trading Standards

I had looked at one of these lamps while in the Cornwall shop but had no space to bring it home to Northern Ireland. The lady in the shop was patient and helpful. I’m delighted with the lamp, which arrived in perfect condition and ready to use. Thank you Sand Cornwall.
Faulty goods and no refund!
If I could apply a negative score I would based on my experience to date. The faulty goods were returned 5/6 months ago and I have been chasing a refund ever since which Matt has assured me has been processed but alas no funds have been received. No longer taking my calls so has the goods and my money £180 which is criminal.
I am not a person to write such comments usually but the poor service has driven me to, so that other customers do not fall foul of the same experience.
Recent comments below suggest this is clearly a common theme of wrong doing with this Business so avoid at all costs.

This is theft
8 months on and still no refund for the faulty product I returned, now too late to get a refund from PayPal. You just get ignored, or given excuses after excuse when you do manage to speak to someone. This is theft.

Anther one to add a negative review and I wish I’d checked them out before ordering. Ordered an overpriced lamp and shade that I found much cheaper on a different website and I tried in vain to cancel my order and get a refund. There’s simply no reply and it’s SO frustrating!
