I've taken two courses with SOM - in 2020 and 2021 - Animation Bootcamp and Illustration for Motion. The courses are pricey but paying in 3 installations helped with that. And they're worth it - at le... Mehr ansehen

School of Motion has been the best…
School of Motion has been the best online learning experience I've had.

The AE Kickstarter class is a well thought out curriculum. It does challenge you to progress quickly, and content is fed to you at times with a firehose. But that is a good problem to have. I really got a lot out of the class.
It was an incredible journey.
It was an incredible journey.
The whole process from the lectures to the critiques were very professional, stimulating and inspiring.
Thank you for all the kind words and encouragement during the worse parts. I will sure not forget my time with the School of Motion.
Hands down course but annoying interface
I took 'Lights, Camera and Render' course and this course was hands down, amazing, super knowledgeable, I don't regret spending my money on for sure. I've learned SO MUCH. It was definitely worth the money. However, I didn't have a good experience with my TA as I've gotten more constructive reviews on the other learning platforms. The TA I had would mostly say 'That's cool' and no real feedback. So i would say don't expect much on getting feedback. It felt like I was talking to a bot lol My TA didn't answer my questions nor answer my emails.
Also, their interface is buggy and annoying to use. It's a simple set up but I've experienced glitches, you will have to jump back and forth to different tabs and playing video was just a disaster and you may want to keep this in mind too before you take this course.
But other than this, I still recommend to take this course.
I really love what SOM's do and I hope they can fix these inconveniences!

Highly recommend
If you want to upgrade your skills fast, this is definitely a great way to do it. Learned so much and would highly recommend. I did Animation Bootcamp.
A great way to accelerate your Cinema4d…
A great way to accelerate your Cinema4d learning path. The videos are thorough and easy to follow
Great course that could use some updates and TA attentiveness.
This course was fantastic as a ground level, getting started in C4D experience. What I found unfortunate was that a lot of the content is from 6+ years ago, and a lot of the functionality within C4D (R25, specifically) has changed. I found myself Googling often for workarounds, or where things were located, often to no avail, losing hours of valuable work time. I was also thrown off by the Adobe Premiere lesson in the middle of the course. A head's up to students to have some working knowledge of that would have also saved a lot of time. I thought knowing AE would be suffice. Another critique I have is the TA's interaction. I felt a lot more connected and guided through AE Kickstart with my TA, than I did with this course. (Which could have really benefitted from having more interaction, considering how complex and time-consuming a lot of the steps are.) I never received answers to any of my follow-up questions or musings to the TA's critique notes to me. And in my notes to him for my Final, to look at the ZIP file of the scene images that I provided, was ignored, and he presented an unfinished video of a text animation (that I had to include to even send anything) instead for the Summit. Sigh.
Overall, I had a fantastic experience, and learned so much. For that, 4 Stars. Thanks SoM.
Instant improvement
I had a very good experience with School of Motion. This is the first course of them I've taken, and I've already signed up for a second one, as I found their learning program to be quite extensive, offering not only actionable lessons but also industry context and additional resources. By week three or four I had already noticed a significant improvement in my skills and in my way of approaching animation, and I feel much more confident approaching new professional projects. Their feedback was quick and useful, helping improve assignments significantly.
The school was also considerate and accommodating during a personal hardship I encountered along the course, which I appreciate on a human level. I will definitely stick around for the coming years.
Cinema 4D Basecamp
I took the Cinema 4D Basecamp course. This was a great course with clear easy to follow instruction. EJ is a natural at teaching. He keeps things light, fun, and engaging. The pacing is tough, but manageable with a full time job. They aren't kidding about planning for 15-20 hours a week for this. On the whole it was great, and I feel like I can do professional work in Cinema 4D now! I'm looking for opportunities at work to start incorporating 3D and flex what I've learned.
Great investment, would recommend :)
I appreciate how well-structured and diverse the course is. Videos, PDFs, podcasts, weekly review session, links to further resources... and the TA was very encouraging and helpful :)
The tone of the course is friendly, it takes nothing for granted and explains all the concepts simply and clearly.
Homeworks are never boring and you have total freedom in how to approach it as long as you incorporate what you've learned in the given lesson.
It was very much a demanding journey but I feel I am so much better off now that I'm on the other side!

School of Motion is an excellent online course provider!
Money well spent!
It's been an eye-opening journey with Ascent. My confidence level has definitely "ascended" and I'm now preparing for exciting things for my studio. Unfortunately, I couldn't finish the last assignment on time before the locker closed but I'm motivated to finish it and apply what I've learned here. I'll be signing up for another course in the near future!
Nice class
The podcast is the most valuable part of the course. Being a professional is more than knowing the software.
It was a nice experience
It was a nice experience, pushed me out my comfort zone, i really enjoyed!
Thank you SOM!
I definitely improved over the 3 months while taking this course even though I wasn't able to fully take advantage of everything. There's many ways to learn about a topic and go very in-depth. My TA offered great constructive feedback and for any questions I had not related to the lesson, he was still happy to answer. I recommend Animation Bootcamp for anyone no matter what skill level they're at.
Animation Bootcamp Review
When I signed up for this course, I thought it'd just make me a better animator. Which it did, but boy did it do so much more!
Apart from the principles and such fun assignments, I loved the intuitive learning approach of the entire course. The podcasts, the extra lessons,
and the inspiring playful attitude of Joey to dealing with stressful tasks all helped make it more of an experience than "just a course"
A big thanks to the people who made it all happen, Joey Korenman, Beau Ryan, and all the other TAs who were involved in a growth journey that I'm going to hold onto for a long long time!
I'll be back for another course sooner or later.
Till then, Adios!
School of Motion has a very well…
School of Motion has a very well organized process of learning, practical dashboard, homework locker with works of all the students, TAs who give feedback on our homework, support team which is always ready to help. And the best teacher EJ!
Thank you guys! Will definitely come back on another course.
Explainers are much easier now for me
During the course I was doing 30s explainer video which requires to use various software for design, animation and audio editing. In order to complete the project you have to see the final result in your mind and then recreate it in some possible way for you. Very time consuming and totally new way of work for me. Great experience and great item for my portfolio in the end of the course. By the way, I've checked also visual essay workshop during the course and received additional impulse when I stuck in the middle of the course. Hard route, and I'm happy that it all happened during the educational project, rather than in real situation with the client.
