As a passionate entrepreneur, I was eager to open my dream hospitality business. When it came time to purchase kitchen equipment, the dealer I trusted highly recommended SilverChef and their “Rent-Try-Buy” contract. It seemed like a flexible option at the time—but unfortunately, it turned out to be a financial trap.
I signed the contract in good faith and made every payment on time for 12 months. Over that first year, I paid a total of $28,000, including interest. I understood they needed to profit, and I was ready to finalize the purchase. But when I contacted them to buy the equipment outright, I was shocked:
👉 They asked for another $28,000—on top of what I had already paid!
To make matters worse, they told me that if I didn’t want the equipment anymore, I’d have to pay to return it to their warehouse!
This is not how ethical financing works. It felt like I was being punished for trying to do the right thing. This type of business model exploits small business owners, many of whom are already under huge pressure.
💥 My message to you: Please don’t fall into the same trap. Don’t let a predatory financing scheme like this ruin your business or your life. Avoid SilverChef. Look for fair, transparent options that support your growth—not drain your resources.

Please be cautious when dealing with this company. While it’s easy to sign up, it can cost you an arm and a leg to get out of the lease. There are many hidden charges buried in the fine print — especially if you decide to buy the equipment after a year. To make matters worse, they will even charge you for broken equipment!
I’m currently in a dispute with them, and I wouldn’t want anyone else to make the same mistake I did. If you can’t afford new equipment, consider buying second‑hand rather than entering into a lease agreement with this company.

When purchasing or renting from…
When purchasing or renting from Silverchef they are quick professional but with my experience with them after 12 months you got to get in contact with them to either rent to buy or pay it outright as the first 12months rent you pay 75% of the payments will come off the settlement price as if you don’t get in contact they will keep taking the rent out and none of those funds will come off, so it will just go on forever and that works out to be a big cost other than that it’s perfect

Silverchef are good to deal with. If you need equipment fast. Process is easy. Affordable weekly rental. Buy out costs are high. Rental payments are 100% tax deductible so thats a big plus. You pay for the convenience.

Certified used, certified rip-off
Used equipment breaks for second but just out of the 3 month warranty. Have to keep till the 12month lease is up and then give it back. Costing $130 for a oven that doesn't work. Never again. Update. A technician fixed under warranty but he said there was a lot of loose fuses and wiring so he doesn't know how long the repairs will last.
