I worked w/ Smartdata back in 2009, and it was an absolute nightmare. This was before many review sites were out there... in fact, I think that Trustpilot was relatively new at the time, so I didn't really get a chance to post my horrible experience anywhere.

Fast forward to 2024, and they appear on Upwork with just about every keyword(s) I use, since they seem to do a lot of work in my niche. In fact, they responded to my job post with a bid, and I recognized their name immediately, as I never forgot the terrible experience, and all the money I threw away. In fact, I had to hire someone else to do their job and ultimately received nothing from Smartdata.

I was surprised by their decent reviews on Upwork, and figured that maybe they finally figured things out and got it right. However, it just made me too curious, so I decided to come here to see if people had anything to say, and sure enough, you can see that they are still a scamming company up to no good. Just like everyone else stated, they lure you in with higher level people, telling you what you want to hear, then you end up working with lower level people who never seem to get it right. They will nickel and dime you, moving different people in and out, and will ultimately hold their useless source code hostage for money... which I knew better than to pay for.

I have worked with many software companies over the years, and Smartdata was by far the worst experience, bar none. Do yourselves a favor and stay far, far away from this scam company.

smartData provides a good and healthy environment to work. There are a lot of new things you can learn with new opportunities to grow and great company culture. I have got a good kick start to my career and i can see myself grow in good positions in future too, even my immediate seniors and my teams are very good and cooperative with the work and with other things as well.

smartData Enterprises has a fun and inclusive company culture. They organize regular social events and team-building activities, which have helped me to form strong relationships with my colleagues. The company also values diversity and inclusion, and they make a conscious effort to create a welcoming and inclusive work environment for all employees.

The company provides ample opportunities for professional growth and development. They encourage to attend training programs and conferences, and they offer internal training sessions as well. This has helped me to improve my skills and stay up-to-date with the latest technologies. Work life balance, Fitness activities, outbound training all helped me to raise my career success bar.

Incompetent team of software outsourcing company. The company has zero ethics and zero empathy for wasting the hard-earned money of individuals. Buyer beware this company operates in a very dubious manner where they quote low prices and then leave the project half-way. Management does not care or bother and you will find it hard to trace subsequently. The following people are a disgrace to professional work ethics:

Rahul Sharma (Director for sales based out of parramatta in Sydney)
Shailendra Kumar (A person who amanged the show but has no official title)
Mohit Pateriya (Another sales guy comepletely clueless and has no control whatsoever)

We were promised the moon for a USD10K project we agreed to do with them but after repeated pleas's to get back on track, deliver etc. we were only told the delays were due to fear we created amongst the developers, project managers.

We changed 3 project managers in 8 months, changed 4 team members out of 4.

there is no way to a legal action against them as they do not legally exists in Australia.

Complaints to Upwork went unheard as Upwork management is hands-in-glove.

Beware!!

It was the worst experience ever, to summurize, we lost 25.000 EUR with this F******* company.

1.In the begginning they give you some good impressions, best profile ect and then it's over you have only the Intern, the work is really bad, no follow up, the managment does not response and more and more.

2. When you asked for you source code to leave them, impossible, they don't

You know what, I have a lot of things to write and I don't want to waste my time, unfortunetelly they are not in Belgium to legally sue them, but it was an experience to learn.

My advise to you run away !!!!

did not respect the timeline, gave me a website full of bug, one advice, do not work with them. there are plenty of other companies.

Don't be naive with Priyanka's charm at the beginning.

We had agreed to work on a SIP project with Priyanka in May 2020. The agreed completion time of the project was 90 hours.

Priyanka and her team were very active and professional with thorough communications at the beginning of the project. As she built trust and reliability. We gave her an ample amount of time to complete the job as she recommended and did not put any pressure on her.

Her proactiveness towards the project diminished soon after the contracted 90 hours was achieved in Upwork.

She started to give us excuses every week, said, the work will be complete next week etc. But the next week had never come to an end for us as she would avoid replying to our messages or miss the arranged calls skype calls etc.

I've raised the concern with the management team at SmartData Inc Agency. Many times, but after the initial reply to the messages, they've also avoided further responses. The managers are Ajay Tiwari, Vishal Sagar and Prateek Khera.

When I hired Priyanka, Prateek Khera was the agent who spoke with us and confirmed the project duration and the costs etc.

Prateek too stopped responding to our messages after many attempts on reaching to him regarding the project incompletion.

I reached out to Ajay Tiwari, but as expected, no response was given.

Vishal Sagar read all my messages on Skype, but not a single time he bothered responding to the messages.

It's been almost five months, and the project is still incomplete. Priyanka took nearly $1,000 of course.

I had no choice but to find another developer, who reviewed Priyanka's code and said she wasted our money and time, all she did was copy & paste the code from an existing Repo, and nothing else was worked on.

The new developer is now working from scratch to build the SIP project.

Please be wary of this company; they are fraudsters and dishonest.

If end up hiring anyone from SmartData Inc Agency, please do not agree to pay in hourly contract, go with fixed contract and only pay when they complete the project and hand over the working project.

Be VERY careful hiring this company, SmartData. During the pitch phase, they show you all the best stuff: perfect PM methodology, project timelines, great communicators, QA team, etc, but once you hire them, everything completely changes.

1. Very little attention to detail. You will constantly have to double-check their work even though they promise QA on their end. You'll find typos, flows not working properly, etc., easy things that they should be found if they have proper QA like they say they do.

2. SOW was hourly with a not to exceed amount, once the amount was exceeded, availability and quality will drop off a cliff. I had to open a case with Upwork to get their attention and even then, promised deadlines were missed. The project ended up going over 1-1.5 months and still, we are having issues. But since the case is now closed, once again, very little attention from them.

3. TERRIBLE project management. When I was interviewing them, I spoke to who I thought would be my PM. He showed me great Gantt charts, explained how they run spirits, etc. all really good stuff. However, once the project started, it completely changed. No plan was put together, there was no Agile board to go off of, no regular updates, no ability to see project status, no ability to see how many hrs were burned AND the person I spoke to WAS NOT my PM. Any form of tracking was done through Excel spreadsheets.

4. They have no formal tool for bug tracking even though they said they did. All bugs were tracked in a running list in Excel. No swimlanes, no resemblance of weekly sprints, no lifecycle, nothing. I ended up purchasing a subscription to a tool to properly track this with no mention of reimbursement from them.

5. The product will look nothing like your wireframes. You will have to take screenshots pointing out exactly what looks different in development vs wireframes.

tl;dr Take my advice and pass on SmartData no matter how good their pitch seems to be. You will regret it!
