I'm giving Solaris one star because there's no option for no stars.

I'm giving Solaris one star because there's no option for no stars. They sent a letter to our registered address with a spurious claim for "unpaid membership invoices" relating to Checkatrade, onto which they added interest and a £40 late payment compensation. The letter was signed "Solaris Law", so nobody was actually prepared to put their name on it. I've never had any dealings with Checkatrade and can only assume that Solaris sends out lots of these letters on the understanding that some recipients will pay either because they don't check the details properly or can't be bothered to dispute. I replied with an email requesting more details about the alleged debt and didn't hear back. All seems extremely dodgy.

Have today sent letters to Barclaycard…

Have today sent letters to Barclaycard Business, the FCA and the SRA to make formal complaint regarding the approach that Solaris Law and Azzurro have taken in collecting debt aggressively and without concern for the debtor. Both companies have the same Directors - one Stefan Paul Acklam, Karen Lea Bulgarell and Leigh George Berkley. All Directors of both Azzurro and Solaris Law, yet in communications, Solaris Law acts as a separate entity - even though both companies also work out of the same address. This would not be a problem, but there is no transparency that they are in fact registered to the same address.

My very last communication with them, clearly mentioned in writing their 'client' Azzurro Associates. Again, to reiterate, this would appear to look like an attempt to put pressure on a debtor with a legal route, while Azzurro does not in any way communicate with the debtor from day one. Which seems very odd.

Even when I offered to make payments, this all went through Solaris Law. Nothing with Azzurro,. Yet they are apparently allowed to buy debts from Barclaycard with no recourse and it appears without getting their hands dirty. That is always for Solaris Law to undertake. So I've been doing some investigations in to both companies.

I believe the connections between these two companies are a serious conflict of interest and open to the testing of boundaries in what I have seen to be fairly aggressive and completely ignorant duty of care to a vulnerable debtor. Solaris Law is poor with communications, provides no support whatsoever to debtors, and have used aggressive pressure in my opinion to get me to pay money for a debt.

Notwithstanding, Azzurro is the 'debtor' who purchases the debt, but having looked at the letters they previously sent, there is no clear or obvious information that links the two companies together. Yet I'm interested to know how they have the same Directors and the same address?

So, my formal complaint to Barclaycard outlines what I see as a poor choice of company - and I will be making this very clear as they have a responsibility to ensure the companies they choose act lawfully but that they also represent the reputation of Barclaycard. So that's my first official complaint. They need to consider whether their reputation is appropriate using a company like Azzurro that immediately goes to Solaris Law!

Secondly, as outlined by the SLA - Poor communication is something that is meant to be follwed. I have written proof that Solaris Law ignore and do not communicate as they should, which falls outside of the SLA guidelines. And again, I would argue that their is a conflict of interest. They are pressuring debtors to pay debts for a company looking for profit. This can clearly be considered something that needs to be investigated.

Thirdly, there is clearly a conflict of interest that Solaris Law and Azzurro Associates need to outline and explain. How do they ensure duty of care? How do they fulfil FCA regulations in terms of debt collection, if the only company you ever deal with is the Solicitors?

What measures are in place to properly deal with vulnerable debtors, pass the point of basic law?

What is their perspective on profits? Do they put that before their responsibilities as Solicitors and debt collectors? Where is the proof that they don't?

What proof can they offer that under one company roof with two different entities that they are running independently of each other? Is there a compromise in terms of independence and how cases for debt are run? Do they have separate offices?

There is no transparency in any of the communications I have seen from Solaris Law, being honest and telling you that they are in fact owned by the same group of people. Again, I believe this to be an intentional tactic to recover money as quickly as possible - putting profits over morals. Which again, is a clear conflict of interest.

So I am going to ask the FCA and the SLA to investigate this entity and provide clarification on how the two companies are operated separately and what safe guards are in place to ensure this is the case. I would like to know what how they are operating to ensure no conflict of interest.

Even having the same Directors is something I feel questionable, knowing that any business needs profit, so this has to be something that is looked at and that both Solaris Law and Azzurro have to answer to regulators.

I looked at the FCA register - to see what rights Solaris Law have as a regulated entity. They can;

1: Act on behalf of credit lenders and hire companies (for example, collecting regular payments).
2:Collect outstanding repayments from you on behalf of credit lenders or hire companies.

So can they explain why their name is on the County Court Form?

It should be Azzurro on there who do have permissions.

I had an extremely distressing…

I had an extremely distressing experience with Azzurro Associates and their in house law firm Solaris Law Commercial Ltd. I was repeatedly contacted regarding an alleged company debt that I strongly dispute and for which I was not provided with satisfactory supporting evidence.

Despite reaching out directly to the directors of Azzurro Associates, Solaris Law Commercial Ltd, Cap on Tap and New Wave Capital Ltd and the organisation MALG in an attempt to resolve matters constructively, the claim was still pursued relentlessly by Azzurro Associates and Solaris Law Ltd.

Even after making them aware that I was unwell at the time, the matter was escalated to court. I found the approach aggressive and lacking in understanding or reasonable engagement. I am pleased to say they lost on all points of their claim.

I would strongly advise others in a similar situation to keep thorough records and seek independent advice from Mel at Personalguarantee.co.uk

Solaris Law's fail in their fundamental duty, Predatory behavour

Solaris Law Ltd firm’s website promises a 'laser-sharp focus on the detail' and a commitment to 'Integrity and Empathy.' CEO Mel Chell publicly claims that Solaris Law is 'Bigger. Better. Braver.' and has 'embedded the FCA Consumer Duty at every level.' There is a staggering disconnect between these marketing promises and the reality of their department’s actions.

As a matter of grave regulatory concern when Officers of the Court specifically senior members fail in their fundamental duty to ensure data integrity.
As in my case this enforcement is based on fabricated data, data irregularity and red flag tactics picked up by UK Debtline and other regulated advisors. The coordinated "Tactical Litigation" being deployed by their your staff, spcifically Mr Wood from 2021 to 2025, constitutes severe professional misconduct and "Sharp Practice" Issues which I believe I have encountered and been a victim of at the hands of this debt collector which include:

Strategic Forum Shopping & Venue Manipulation

Manipulation of Evidence & Timing

Reliance on "Ghost Data" & Identity Check Failure

Financial Inconsistency & Evidence Discrepancy

Predatory Breach of Consumer Duty

I am a vunererable person currently incapictated due to longterm health issues, when in a better place I will be writting a full article and publishing as I am that shocked that such old school redflag debt collection is still happening in 2026 by a regulated UK firm claiming to be the law and aligned at the highest level with the FCA. In my experience they ignore everything and like a predator go for the kill no matter what, no matter what evidence you hold that contradicts and disproves their fake narrative built on their belief of your case when they admitted the claimant their client omitted the truth and data for a 16 year RBS Dash for Cash dispute. RBS GRG victim article being written from my bed something to do while I get well.

Another review from me really need help

Another review from me, I’m in a stressful mess after a bailiff arriving at my door this evening!!! I’ve tried everything to sort a payment plan.. no one from the company after many emails has ever replied. Mr Thomas I’m guessing a false name arrived at my door this evening & entered my porch. Lucky my son was here to help me, he wouldn’t leave & couldn’t get the help he required to enter my property to take anything that’s a value. I’m not working at the moment either so stressed as it is, they are coming back tomorrow with more of them & now my son is not wanting to leave. Never felt so intimidated or so scared in my life. How can companies do this or have the power to think it’s right.

I had a business credit card with…

I had a business credit card with Captain on Tap and no where on the letter of introduction to take out a credit card did it say that it was covered by a personal guarantee. The way you signed up for the card was through online document signing by clicking a tick box. I was completely unaware that it also meant I had entered into a personal guarantee which I have never done in my life as I have a limited company for the very reason that the company is the entity and not me. To cut a very long story I went through financial hardship having had cancer and fell behind in some payments. I was referred to shire recoveries and went through the process of setting up a payment each month. Although it wasn’t a lot I was paying towards the debt which I had disputed but they insisted that it was covered by a personal guarantee which I could not prove otherwise as it was all electronic and their evidence was a click on a non physical document. I was then moved to Azzuro and I’ve no idea why. It counted to make payment and then Azzuro made up some fictitious explanation that I wasn’t paying monthly and moved my account to Solaris Law to take me to court. Apparently this is all legal as they’re not covered by the legal ombudsman who they actually told me to contact!!!! I have all the evidence. They took me to court and the judge of course filed in their favour to make me pay more or get a default on my credit plus have ti pay it back. THEY ADDED £1750 FOR LEGAL FEES FOR A 1 REPRESENTATIVE TO GO TO COURT FOR THEM AND TRIED TO ADD a ridiculous amount of further interest. The whole thing was completely unfair and I had no recourse to defend my position. Do not take out an loans or credit cards with Capital on Tap or FUNDING CIRCLE ( there may be others!) which are all personal guarantees. They are all in it together to make money from anybody’s unfortunate circumstances even if you are paying them money each month.

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR LEGAL ADVICE AVOID THIS COMPANY

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR LEGAL ADVICE AVOID THIS COMPANY OPERATE OUTSIDE THE REGULATIONS - THIS COMPANY OPERATE A VERY SOPHISTICATED SCAM PLEASE BEWARE!!!!

Unfortunately, we have found to our detriment that this company colludes with several associates in order to create a linear income stream for one another.
Solaris Law / Azzurro Associates / Shire Collections all operate under the same group umbrella and all operate outside FCA regulations. What is even more disturbing is that as the legal arm of the group Solaris Law seemingly are unaware of the laws and regulations that govern them, this is a legal entity!!!! Its unbelievable

Solaris have spent their time providing incorrect information (when I can get through to them) and playing back and forth between all the other members of the collusion denying responsibility.

Solaris Law present themselves as a legitimate legal company, however please beware, they are nothing more than front for unscrupulous Azzurro Associates and provide Azzurro and Shire Collections as well many others a degree of separation from their operations which take place outside the regulatory margins of the FCA. This company have consistently mislead, backtracked and denied culpability for anything whatsoever, seemingly with no one to hold them to account.

I can only hope this review sheds light on their practice and others are spared the experience that we have had. Hopefully now that they have been reported, the way they operate has been exposed and they are finally brought to account.
