I wish I had joined the Academy sooner! As a home-maker (not an interior designer), the course has given me foundational knowledge to apply step-by-step in my own home. I've completed the bedroom module and now have the know-how, confidence, and ideas to design a room that is not only beautiful but also functional.

I initially hesitated to join, thinking Sophie's YouTube videos provided sufficient information. However, the videos and workbooks within the course go much deeper. This comprehensive knowledge is what will elevate my design from "I've copied a picture of a beautiful room" to "I've designed a functional, layered, and well-considered room."

I have also joined The Mood Board. This community has been invaluable. I've received direct feedback and advice from Sophie, her team, and fellow members. It feels like a privilege to be part of such a supportive group—experienced designers and home-makers like myself, sharing and learning together.

I can’t recommend the Sophie Patterson academy enough, this course is incredible, inspiring & packed with valuable knowledge from start to finish.
Completing my own interiors recently, I have studied those details big & small that never quite fitted together, hardware mixing that I would of never have done before, just looks fab, I’m loving my new interiors, thanks to Sophie’s years of experience, I feel overnight that my own design has changed, with things I would never have put together before, but actually works well,
I feel an extended interior sister of Sophie’s designs.

There is nothing else like this out there, so informative, feels very much part of a community. This course is full of details I would never have thought about, well worth the money. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who is in the middle of a project, about to start a project or who simply wants to learn from the very best in Interior Design.

the quality of video's and files were great. content is very structured and easy to follow. there were some things mentioned briefly but never explained such as corner cabinet easy access systems. but main concepts were all covered.
over all the course was exactly as advertised, it is not equivalent to a degree, it is for anyone who wants a general intro into luxury design. it is not so detailed and advanced to confused beginners.
It would be great if they create a next level course to take after this one. Next course can go more in depth on every aspect such as measurements, sourcing, dealing with contractors, etc.
also it would be great if they add American resources.

I’m not an interior designer but I’ve got a good eye and done up several homes in the past. I’ve also worked with interior designers on my homes too. I wanted to learn the professional process to give me confidence to take on a larger renovation single handedly. I hoped the course would give me the knowledge I needed to take on our next large project that includes bathroom, kitchen design, lighting, flooring, joinery, as well as decoration and furnishing. I’m so happy with the course. It’s been even better than I hoped. I can’t believe how generous Sophie and her team are with their knowledge. I completed the course in 2 weeks as I did it full time. I feel like I’ve learnt so much and this will save me so much money. Thank you for creating this course it’s made such a big difference to me.

One practical tool I’ve already applied to a real project is the structured layout planning approach taught in the Academy.

Instead of jumping straight into sourcing furniture, I now begin every project by properly mapping out circulation space and key sight lines. On a recent bedroom scheme, I used the spacing guidance from the module to adjust the bed placement slightly and rework the positioning of the bedside tables. It seems like a small change, but it completely improved the balance and flow of the room.

I also applied the lighting layering checklist to that same project. Rather than relying on a single statement pendant, I incorporated wall lights for softness and added discreet accent lighting to highlight texture. The result felt far more considered and atmospheric.

Having a clear framework to follow has made my process more confident and less reactive. It’s no longer guesswork it feels intentional and structured from the outset. For anyone wondering if this course is for them I would say yes go for it, you won't regret it!

I’m not a designer but absolutely love interiors. I wanted to do the course for my own home. I renovated my home 4 years ago and made so many costly mistakes. I wish the course was available then as I would have done things so differently with the knowledge I’ve gained from Sophie.

This course is excellent!! I am going through my own home renovation at the moment and its been so key to making so many decisions confidently!! Sophie goes into so much detail about so many different things that it covers so much. Be prepared to lose your evenings but its so enjoyable and feels like you're gaining so much knowledge. So worth the money, dont hesitate!

I absolutely loved this interior design course. It helped me so much in my house-flipping and staging business. For the first time, I truly understood where to start , from creating a clear brief, building a mood board, and starting with the biggest furniture piece before moving to the details.

The lighting tricks I learned made a huge difference in my projects, and the lessons on proper measurements helped me avoid costly mistakes. Most importantly, the course taught me how to organize my thoughts and steps in a clear, professional way instead of feeling overwhelmed.

What I appreciated the most is that you learn how to do all of this while achieving a luxury look , elegant, cohesive, and high-end without overdoing it.

I was nervous that this course would only before professionals but it has been fantastic for me! I have a new build property and the info has been invaluable. The detail that Sophie has included really leaves no room for error . Lots of helpful hints for the pros but also a great guide for the enthusiastic DIYers and fans (stalkers??) like me of SP Interiors online content .

Though I haven’t started the course just yet, I have learned so much from watching Sophie’s YouTube channel, listening to the podcasts she’s on and from her blogs. I’ve been worried recently about what my future clients would think of me because I’m not going the traditional route by going to school and getting a degree. If you are thinking of doing an interior design course then this is the one for you. The content is so unbelievably generous and insightful into the world of interior design. I am thoroughly enjoying this course as it guides you through each module step by step. I am not an interior designer just an enthusiast who enjoys designing / redesigning my own home and would love to change direction and join the world of interior design. I feel this course is worth far more than the price paid and thank you Sophie for sharing your incredible knowledge.

After completing a university degree in interior design, I still felt unsure about how to actually run a project from start to finish. The academy filled in the gaps that uni didn’t cover, particularly around real-world processes, documentation and how projects are managed day to day. Seeing the exact templates Sophie uses, along with real examples and case studies, made the transition from theory to practice much clearer and far more relevant.

To be honest, I haven’t purchased the course yet, but I’ve gained so much knowledge from Sophie’s free content. She is incredibly generous with her advice on YouTube and Instagram, especially regarding the 'unglamorous' side of the industry. While some interior designers can come off a bit snooty, Sophie has a unique way of making everyone feel special and inspired, even if they don't have a massive budget. I’m leaving this review as a small way to support her work and say thank you for being such a genuine, down-to-earth professional!

I already work in a design studio and found the academy really useful for reassurance. It confirmed a lot of things I already knew, but also highlighted common mistakes to avoid. Having key dimensions is so helpful and I printed out the workbook and it’s something I now refer back to regularly. Really enjoyed the course and would definitely recommend to anyone that’s thinking about joining.

I joined because I wanted to hire a designer but it was too expensive so I decided to try to understand design properly myself rather than just trying to copy ideas from Pinterest and Instagram. The academy helped me really understand my space, how each room will be used, and how to design around circulation and proportions rather than focusing on aesthetics alone.

I’m renovating a period property and found the guidance on bespoke joinery particularly helpful, especially when dealing with awkward or unusual spaces. Fabrics were another area I felt unsure about before, I didn’t understand what was suitable for different rooms. I now have a clear understanding of rub counts, durability, and where to source fabrics properly, which has made decision-making much easier.
