My daughter's tutor Chidera was excellent in helping her with areas of biology and chemistry she was struggling with in class. He boosted her confidence and helped her to prepare for her exams. Her results were brilliant!

We were so pleased we chose Spark tutoring for our son's GCSE maths and physics. His confidence going into yr 11 mocks was low in December, which was the point we started the tutoring - but all he needed was a boost to know he could go into the May/June exams and have a good chance of passing. Elliott, his online tutor, was so patient and calm with him, he had great knowledge and gave him the confidence to try the harder questions and push himself out of his comfort zone. Elliott always went the extra mile and made sure that my son understood what he was doing. It was great to see him switching on and feeling like he could tackle an exam paper confidently. He achieved his predicted mark and passed both maths and physics, but more importantly had the self belief and confidence he would do well, which was invaluable. Thank you to Elliott and to Spark, would highly recommend this service to anyone whose child needs that little bit of support going into their exams.

English tutor Fudail has done a great job tutoring my son in GCSE English Literature and English Language. Fudail was reliable, punctual and helpful with any rescheduling needed. My son is very academic and only needed help in English: having the focused one hour every week for nearly a year helped enormously. It also helped that his tutor was someone close to his age and he had confidence that Fudail knew how to do well in GCSEs - having recently gone through it himself. My son got his results this week and achieved a 7 in English Language and an 8 in English Literature. He was getting 4s and 5s in Year 10. He even said himself that he would have got at least a grade lower without the tutoring - if not more. So thank you Fudail and Spark. We wouldn't hesitate to use Spark Tutoring again if we needed a tutor for our other children.

i started year 11 thinking i would definitely fail physics and biology, but tutoring from spark helped me so much!!! i went from a grade 2/3 in biology, and a grade 4 (at a struggle) in physics, but received grade 5’s in both all thanks to the amazing tutoring i was given. i would 1000% recommend!!! the experience of having someone in further education as a tutor rather than someone far far older made my tutoring more engaging as i could relate my knowledge to more memorable things over just memorising words.

Divaa made my english grades go from 2s in year 10 to finishing school with a 6 in english language and a 4 in english literature. She was super super encouraging and enthusiastic and made tutoring fun instead of boring. She put things into real life perspectives for me to understand better as learning things the basic way never worked for me as i found it boring. She boosted my confidence with english and gave me very strong tips. She was a great tutor all the way through and i wouldn’t have gotten the grades i did without her.

We can’t thank Spark Tutoring enough. Our daughter started tutoring after her Year 10 mocks, when she was working at a Grade 3 in Maths. She went on to achieve a Grade 6 in her GCSE – something she never thought she would achieve.

Thanks to Ahmed’s support, she can now go on to study A-levels at her chosen grammar school. Getting her tutoring with Spark was genuinely one of the best decisions we’ve made. We’re so grateful for all the support she received and would highly recommend them.

I was a Year 11 Student, Now going to year 12, and I would like to say that my tutors for Geography, English and Maths were amazing, they got my grades up and on Gcses I ended up getting 7’s when I was at 4’s on English and wouldn’t go past a 6 in Maths, I was very close to 8 in Maths too. They were very helpful and lovely. I recommend this a lot! I was being helped since year 10 too :)

I would like to take the opportunity to share Patrick’s experience with spark and how Patrick today has achieved a grade 4 GCSE with the support of his tutor Marcus -without Marcus this would not have been possible.
Patrick started his journey with spark 16 months ago due to all other tutors not being successful in supporting Patrick to progress in his maths. Patrick has dyscalculia and was only achieving grade 2 at the end of Y9. Once Patrick started his tutoring with Marcus Patrick did not look back. Marcus has been a phenomenal tutor for Patrick and built Patrick confidence in his ability to succeed in maths. As a parent I cannot begin to explain the worry for Patrick and his maths and how we could get Patrick to pass his GSCE when he was only achieving grade 2. Marcus was committed to Patrick - he built a relationship with him - he understood Patrick’s struggle with his maths and dyscalculia and he gave Patrick his confidence. I would recommend Marcus as a tutor for any child and he has absolutely provided all the tools that has enabled Patrick in achieving his grade 4 pass in his GCSEs.

Sessions felt very open, tutor spoke very clearly and answered all questions about anything I needed to understand. Overall amazing support, I would definitely recommend.

The tutors were extremely attentive to my needs and capable of breaking down concepts so they were more digestible. This helped me go from to 5-6 to a 7 in my biology GCSE , and gave me a deeper understanding of the subject so I could take it for level.

Sinni was a great tutor and a really good support for me. I enjoyed going to each
session, my grades where boosted to strong passes as a result and I was more confident in the subjects. Thank you for everything!

My daughters maths tutor Mahek was fantastic. She was aiming for a 7 in her GCSE and got an 8 which is absolutely amazing!!! Esp since she was struggling to get a 6 initially.
Sparks is a great concept although I did get a little frustrated with how inflexible they were at times when we were had to miss or move sessions. Life is not simple and things happen. I did lose out financially to a couple of sessions. Overall we got the result we wanted but my daughter also worked VERY hard to get it!

My son did a 6 week intensive package of Maths and English in the run up to his Gcses. Due to family circumstances he had missed alot of school and was worried about failing. The tutors were excellent and crammed so much into a short space of time. It gave him so much confidence going into the exams and he achieved 5 & 6 in English and Maths. They were both freindly, professional and communicated with both me and my son in between sessions. They shared lots of brilliant resources. I would highly recommend Spark tutoring.

Spark tutoring has been absolutely amazing for my daughter. She was really lacking confidence in English, due to lacking a permanent teacher in yr 9 and the start of year 10. So we signed her up for tutoring with Spark and haven't regretted a second of it. She was matched with Amelia who is just lovely and worked so hard with our daughter to give her the confidence and knowledge to smash her GCSEs!

My tutor helped boost my science grade from a 4-3 to a 6-6 in only a few months. More so, i got a 5 in maths when the highest i had ever gotten was a low 4. Incredible tutor and scheduled to fit me.

After a year of maths tutoring with Spark my son passed his maths GCSE today. He start as a low grade 3 and passed with a 4 (only a few marks away from a 5). He has always struggled with maths and the support and confidence Spark gave him means he passed it and no re-sits needed!

I’m really pleased we took a chance on Spark Tutoring in the lead up to GCSEs. My son was paired with Abhi for support in maths and physics, which he was keen to take at A Level. He received his grades today and received an 8 and 7 in these subjects - and he’s delighted!

The sessions were great - and being fairly similar in age, they developed a good relationship, and discussed what they felt they needed to cover in each lesson. There was no judgement, just support. It also gave my son much more confidence in his ability and knowledge.

I will just say that it slightly drove me mad, acting as a PA going back and forth to sort available times and meeting links. This is so easily done via software, and it really should be part of the Spark service to run the admin, rather than left to parents and an undergrad student (who only receives around 20% of the monthly fee we paid). For the monthly fee, I believe Spark should take responsibility for handling or automating the tuition services to make it easier for all involved. This is the one area I could see a significant service improvement.

I’m happy to recommend Spark to other GCSE parents and grateful for the difference it has made.
