Stamp Duty Rebate Ltd 

We were Very Very lucky to get our money back (50k) from this company. It all seems great, they pay you out then when HMRC come after you for the money they kindly say they will fight it in tribunal. With every knock back from HMRC they assure you to keep fighting it, which buys them time with your money. We felt uneasy and asked for them to repay the amount which they did. As we suspected they would eventually go into receivership. I feel incredibly upset for all the people who lost their money with this company.

SCAM company - have nothing to do with them. Set up, then dissolve and run off with your money! We've just lost over £25,000 with these people!

Can anyone help who is in the same situation as me. They put in a claim and took their fee of £6k plus vat. The claim was then being investigated by HMRC and they told me not to worry it would go to a tribunal and they were confident. Yesterday they went into administration. HMRC now want the whole amount from me including their £6k plus interest. (Total £18k )
It will turn out that I’m paying more in stamp duty than I did in the first place. Surely this cannot be right. Can anyone help legally ? I’m out of my mind with worry over this. Obviously it’s not worth going to tribunal as I could end up with more costs. I don’t know what SDRL sent to HMRC.
I assumed this was similar to a PPi type claim where they found a loop hole with HMRC but they have shut the company down once they’ve taken the money. Stamp Duty rebate successfully claimed back stamp duty on a property that was not habitable when we purchased, within 9 months of us receiving the rebate refund from HMRC, HMRC reopened the case for investigation, which can sometimes result in HMRC requesting for the rebate to be paid back again, thankfully Stamp Duty Rebate defended the case and supplied the documents required to HMRC, and the case was closed, successfully leaving us to keep the rebate claimed and confirmed the property was uninhabitable when purchased. Thanks to Stamp Duty Rebate for dealing with this claim.

Reason for this is as follows;

I applied for a stamp duty refund in May 2023 in which I was told I’d receive a full refund due to the condition of the house.

In October (5 months after my claim being submitted) I got an email from stamp duty rebates saying that HMRC have now put claims like mine on hold and could take years to settle.

Maybe if they done it in 10 weeks like they first told me I wouldn’t be in this position.

The reason I’ve changed from a 1 to a 2 is because I had a call from stamp duty rebates and he reassured me that they haven’t just taken my money and my case has actually been put on hold however, I feel the review still stands as it’s completely pointless for anyone who’s looking for a stamp duty refund to use a refund company if HMRC have put all cases on hold and could takes years to get your money back.

I’ll change my review as soon as an outcome has been made.

👎Whilst you did email back on the 25th Sep you did not attach any documents. We again requested them from you on the 27th Sep, to which you responded by asking how long it will take for your claim to be processed.
We responded by clearly explaining that we require your documents to advance the claim, which we have never received.

On 14 July 2023, I received an unsolicited letter from a so-called Doniel Goldberg offering a stamp duty rebate on a property I had acquired. I wrote them an email on 7 September 2023 as per below.

"Dear Doniel Goldberg,
I received your letter dated 14 July 2023 with regards to applying for the stamp duty rebate. Can you please let me know your services, fees and terms of business so I can compare to my own solicitors? I have also been reading from HMRC website that some claims have been lodged where it was later found to be invalid and therefore a refund was due but the agent had already deducted their fees and not paying the refund. Can you please let me know how you manage this circumstance?".

On 11 September, I received an email from a so-called Akash Panchal, requesting a time for a phone call. I immediately responded with a suggestion. Then, absolutely no response. I followed up on 21 September 2023. Absolutely no response. Then I received a phone call today from someone asking for a rating of my experience. I explained how disappointed I had been with their inability to manage new business enquiry, let alone actually do the work. He said he will work to resolve this issue and also said that their fees were 30% + VAT (which is shockingly high!).
Immediately after that, I receive a mass marketing email from a Shahroz (from a company with email address ending in 247claimsgroup.co.uk) reading as follows (my name is not Garry, haha)

"Hi Garry!,
We’re reaching out to you from Stamp Duty Returns, we are committed to provide you with the information and support you need to make an informed decision.
Here’s a few alternative ways for you to get in touch with us, so we can better assist you and provide the information regarding your claim:

Pretty much a scam.Different company names. Different addresses. Wouldn't trust at all. Stay away.
