I decided to employ Steelo for my job…
I decided to employ Steelo for my job in Twickenham and asked them to measure first .
I later discovered they sent a welder to measure for my steels after charging an extra £360 for this service . He didn’t really have the right tools to measure with . Surprise ! The largest steel was delivered the incorrect size and needed to be made again holding up the job .
The staff helped themselves to my garden wooden sleepers to support their genie lift and did lack basic tools . The upright columns were badly fitted and one was protruding 2/3 cm in front of the other 2 columns . One far column was fitted twisted . On the first day the staff told us we should continue to concrete the posts in however a few days later the welder Pawel did admit to me that his level needed to be thrown away as it wasn’t good enough for the job and yes mistakes had definitely been made !
I was returned £750 after I complained however I was then asked on the final delivery to pay £899 to complete payment for my final 2 loft columns so I’m not sure why the original price increased by £150! Especially after everything I went through along the way .
I had paid a large sum for fitting and measuring and in the end my loft company actually fitted the ridge beam so I was expecting to pay less not more 🤔. All in all I found this company to have some poor customer support and one employee Tomasz actually hung up the phone on us . Not very professional at all . We are considering suing Steelo for all the extra work their mistakes actually cost us as we had to work around steels that were not properly in line or level which we really did not expect for a job totalling approx £6500.

Following your agreement to proceed with our proposal, a site survey was arranged. As the site was not fully prepared at that stage, we organised a second visit at no additional cost to ensure everything was measured correctly. Once confirmed, fabrication and delivery were arranged as scheduled. While one beam was unfortunately manufactured at an incorrect length, this was acknowledged immediately and replaced promptly at our expense.
During the installation, we encountered challenges on-site due to overlapping building works, which took place without prior coordination. This limited our team’s access and ability to complete some elements as intended. Nevertheless, we carried out a number of additional tasks beyond our agreed scope — including timber trimming and remedial adjustments — in a sincere effort to keep the project moving forward.
A goodwill refund was issued for the few items that could not be delivered under the circumstances. When further materials were later requested, a new quotation was prepared and fulfilled upon your confirmation.
For the sake of transparency, we would also like to clarify that no charges were made for the multiple additional site visits, amended drawings, or repeat deliveries. Furthermore, we understand there was a suggestion that a member of our team ended a call abruptly — however, we can confirm that he had simply realised you were already engaged in conversation with our Managing Director at the time.
As with all construction projects, we kindly advise all clients to familiarise themselves with our Terms & Conditions, which set out responsibilities clearly and help avoid any misunderstandings.
We genuinely value your business and regret that your experience fell short of expectations. Should you wish to discuss matters further, we remain entirely open to a constructive and courteous conversation.
