Had such a great experience at the Sunshine Au Pair First Aid event! The training was very informative, interactive, and easy to understand even for people without a medical background. I really appreciated how the instructors explained everything patiently and made sure everyone could participate and practice properly.

It was fun and nice experience. I learned a lot and especially the first aid training. I meet new friends too!

A girl I met who was an au pair with this agency had problems with her host family. They made her work too much and never gave her any days off, except when they went on vacation and didn’t need her. She told the agency about it, but they never supported her. I imagine it was because they wanted to keep the family, since the family is the one paying them. My friend is traumatized by the experience. BE CAREFUL, GIRLS! Don’t let host families take advantage of you, and report the agency to the IND if they don’t support you.

I have had a very good experience with Sunshine Au Pair. I feel well supported by the team.

They always give clear guidance and help me understand everything step by step. I really appreciate that they do follow-up calls every 3 months to check how I am doing. It makes me feel cared for and not alone.

If there is any problem, they handle it in a wise and professional way. They are open to listening and help with mediation between me and the host family. They try to find a fair solution for both sides.

Overall, I am happy with Sunshine Au Pair and I feel supported during my au pair journey.

I had a very disappointing experience with Sunshine Au Pair. During a rematch situation, I was sent back to my home country even though, under Dutch IND rules, an au pair is allowed to stay in the Netherlands for a short period to look for a new host family. I was not required to leave immediately, but I was still instructed to go home. I contacted the agency because I trusted them to support me, but instead, the situation was turned against me and I was blamed. I was treated as if I did not matter, partly because I was not the one who paid the agency fees. This was very unfair. I also spent and even borrowed money for medical requirements, transportation, my airplane ticket, and pocket money, as instructed by the agency. Despite these efforts, I did not receive the support I expected. During this difficult time, I was treated unprofessionally, including being spoken to in a raised voice by the Head of Program manager (you know who you are) while I was already emotionally distressed. As a recognised au pair agency in the Netherlands, I expected care, guidance, and protection during the rematch process, but this did not happen.
Because of this experience, I would advise future au pairs to be very cautious and fully informed of their rights. (If this review is deleted, it will only further confirm my experience of being silenced and treated unfairly when I tried to speak up about what happened.)
