I do not understand all the negative ratings. I have been with them for 15 years and l have had no real problems. Never been put on hold for more than a few minutes. Their web site is easy to use and has never been down. Never had a hold on any deposit. Because of my balance l can use private client services. This could be the reason why l get such good services however when l had a smaller balance and did not use private client services l still got excellent service

I would not recommend this company. The reviews essentially say it all. I received this quote from customer service about a trade order I placed that they wouldn't accept. "Your (trading) stops may not protect you (in our trading platform)". Meaning. Individuals may have a trading order set to exit a trade in place and TD can't reliably execute it. Unbelievable. Just an awful experience that cost me hundreds.

Late in the year 2017, I received some stocks from inheritance. I do not live in Omaha Nebraska and requested to transfer my brokerage account closer to me and also chose Schwab at that time. TD Ameritrade gave me a forever difficult time trying to get my account transferred. They were calling me from Omaha, NE, they were calling me from Kansas City, and I don’t recall where all else, trying to convince me not to make the transfer. Eventually, I found success. Recently, however, I needed information regarding one simple transaction with TD Ameritrade just before transferring to Schwab. I call TD Ameritrade‘s toll-free number on my statement from that time frame with my ONE simple question. Looking for a simple answer. My two calls to the toll-free customer service number refused to give me any info whatsoever. This was, despite the fact I had all applicable information and tried to offer it. I was told I needed to contact the “firm” that I dealt with at the time. The person who answer that call was not “able” to give me any info either. Transfers me to some gentleman within the firm that I had to also leave a message. A woman returned my phone call stating no transactions of any type were ever made prior to transfer. Again pointing the finger back to Schwab. Call Schwaab (— to their toll, free customer service number. Who I might add, are extremely helpful). They explained to me how to go through and find past statements to look for the one and only transaction I ever made. But then, searched through a year of transactions for me, while on the phone. Schwab, found nothing. So, call back to TD Ameritrade firm and again leave ANOTHER message. The same woman calls me back a day later and finally admits the info I had been after all along. This is perfect reason why to leave Ameritrade! This is ridiculous! Basically force me to jump through 50 hoops and point the finger at the other investment company I transferred to. Why?? I have no idea… to try to deface Schwab and punish me because I did the unthinkable ?? Left Ameritrade as a customer? I find it humorous that Ameritrade has been bought out by Schwab. Looks like there are a lot of employees who may be in definite need of retraining. Especially in the department of customer service! Good luck to all —

I've used TDA for a long time. I give them 3 out of 5 stars because they are pretty much useless for speed trading, or anything under 5 minute trades. Then, their price execution for market orders can be hit or miss. As far as an IRA or Swing Trading, they are great. I've also had good experiences with customer support and thinkorswim. If you learn to use thinkscripts related to tos, it's extremely useful for identifying trends and getting price triggers.

I used to love the company. They were helpful and polite. Upon being bought out by Schwab, I can no longer make this claim. Every year I buy my husband one share of a stock. This year I received a $44.00 fee, which has never happened before. Upon writing asking for where in my purchase it states that I would receive this fee, I got no reply. They seem more than willing to help take your money, but then go silent when asking clarifying questions.

I’ve lost my entire life savings due to the fraud of TD Ameritrade , they sold most of assets for no reasons, please stay away from the biggest scammers in the world history (TD) , they’re completely scams, fraud and theft.
I’ll fill lawsuits against the scammers and fraudulent company.

I am writing as a distressed consumer, and longtime TD Ameritrade customer, recently re-engaging my TD Ameritrade account # xxxxxx. I am shocked and appalled at this time at the treatment of me as a TD Ameritrade customer, and must request urgent and immediate assistance to ensure this matter’s resolution, after TD Ameritrade arbitrarily placed my account and funds on hold -- this, after being guaranteed by Executive Management that this would not occur, on several recorded calls.

As noted in previous emails to TD Ameritrade, this account has long had checking privileges, I wished to utilize this account not only for trading purposes, but as a secondary checking account as well — with full Privileges to transfer into and out of my external bank accounts as needed. My grievance today stems from the confusion stated on a call with TD Banking Care, as I wish to fund my account with a business check ( a small settlement check) of $5,945.45, and wish to ensure that I have prompt access to these funds for both trading purposes and checking account purposes as needed. While I was advised that I would indeed have access to these funds for all purposes (including partial transfers to any of my external bank accounts), I was also told that TD May restrict my ability to do so and reject said transfers — an appallingly confusing statement, with my own money potentially being held and refused to be transferred out of my account upon the check’s clearance. Further be advised that I was promised by several staff members — including Aaron Mitzan, Chase Mizoguchi & Amy — that this exact scenario (the freezing of my funds and any noted issues with Loss Prevention after my check deposit of $5945.45 on 11/4/22) would not occur, only for it to occur exactly as I was guaranteed it would not — this matter has left me in dire straits, and is grossly unacceptable. My funds are now being arbitrarily held for a "Fraud Investigation", which is grossly unacceptable given the fact that this check has cleared, and I am able to readily prove my identity and that this check indeed is my check -- as evidenced by all prior doc

I was advised that my check would clear on November 10, 2022 — by multiple agents including a supervisor named Colton and Several others, and I was then advised that this check would clear this morning (11/10/22) -- which it did, followed by the sudden arbitrary holding of my funds by TD Ameritrade. Again, I was promised that this matter would not occur as it has and I am suddenly told that my account is under “Fraud Investigation” — this matter has caused me severe medical distress, and I demand immediate resolution.

Please note, that I am now unable to login to my TD Ameritrade account, and I was advised by Client Advocate Team agents Amy & Aaron Mitzan that this wire would definitively go out today without issue, 11/10/2022 — with a guarantee that “this will go out today” on a phone call today by representative Amy at approximetely 9:37am PST. I am now unable to login to my account or have any access to my funds, and request to urgently speak to senior level management, as I am proceeding with a complaint with not only FINRA, but the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Better Business Bureau and local media to ensure that this is immediately released and all of my funds are returned to me immediately.

Please be advised that as a disabled individual, this matter is absolutely unacceptable and continues to cause me profound and severe distress, meriting immediate and urgent resolution -- including the full and immediate release of my funds, totaling $6,096.53.

This matter is grossly unacceptable and merits immediate resolution.

I've been a loyal client since 1998 when they were just plain Ameritrade. They have been a solid, dependable, no-frills, no-nonsense brokerage with outstanding customer service. The reps are always very helpful and courteous.

Shortly after the acquisition by Schwab I started receiving unsolicited cold calls from their brokers. I made it clear that I'm a buy-and-hold man not interested in churning my account and they have left me alone ever since. I like that they don't bombard you with sales pitches for this and that.

I've found that during market hours, cash balances on the web interface are slow to catch up, but Think or Swim updates immediately.

If you need telephone support you'll get through much quicker if you call during off hours when the market is closed and the brokers aren't as busy.

At TD Ameritrade you get free Gainskeeper, a real boon at tax time. I hope Schwab doesn't take it away.

I understand that eventually we will get Schwab accounts and new account numbers. It remains to be seen if Schwab keeps the many benefits of TD Ameritrade in place or if things will change for the worse. Schwab has already made it clear that Think or Swim is "here to stay".

These people are unethical, politically driven monsters who will rape you of your money without warning within seconds. They only care about covering their own asses and will lie their heads off after they do so. They don't have to follow federal or FINRA guidelines and are given carte blanche to destroy people intentionally. Do not, I repeat, do not go to FINRA for anything. Do not go to a FINRA arbitration. The system is 100%, indisputably rigged. FINRA is not there to protect consumers. They are there to protect the brokerages and keep the table tilted. TURN AND RUN FROM TD AMERITRADE AND FINRA IF YOU VALUE YOUR HARD-EARNED MONEY. THESE PEOPLE ARE MONSTERS AND HAVE ZERO CONSCIENCE ABOUT PUTTING PEOPLE THROUGH LIVING HELL.

Crap service is the bottom line. No email contact option on their website, only have facebook where they are about as useful as an elephant in a minefield. They also have a phone number which charges an absolute fortune to phone. Stay away!

Agree to avoid Ameritrade. I traded 'on margin' (granted without really understanding what that meant in the beginning). After that I got notices I was in a margin call several times when my stocks prices dipped. I called to discuss with them and they said as long as I had at least about $1500 value in the account not to worry about it. So I didn't. Then one day out of the blue, they sold my stocks. Well it felt out of the blue after months of in action. Could not someone have reached and said hey, fix this in 24 hours or then we will sell? Especially after sending me empty warnings for weeks?
You might think I am at fault and of course I am, but I don't run my business that way. I don't give months of false warnings and then act without a heads up. It's a shameful way to run a business.

Very rigid in the opening process. very cumbersome. There is no proper answer in foreign languages. It is not possible to reply by email. An unfriendly phone application and many other issues that require urgent digging

Be careful with this trading platform, they are corrupt and will steal every penny they can from you. They also change the amount of your buying price to a higher number and collect the money for themselves for the lower price. I bought a stock for $1.11 this morning $1000 shares and when I submitted the request they changed the buying price to $1.40. This has happened many times to me and I could never figure out how it happened but luckily this time I checked the activity to see the purchase and there it was .30 higher Tham what I bought it for. They scammed me out of $300 this morning, I will sell off all my trades and move to a more trusted platform. I called them to fix it, they pretty much told me to go to hell. BEWARE OF TD AMERITRADE, THEY ARE A CORRUPT COMPANY

Td Ameritrade closed my account and send me a letter with no explanation. They're holding $52,710 until September 5, 2022 with no explanation.

These people are absolute liars. There's no wonder why they have so many terrible reviews. I decided to transfer my account ($400,000). because I felt they were unethical. I talked to a representative named Joshua Pella. He promised to refund me a very small amount of money due to poor service. I asked "Are you really going to do this?" he said he would and I thanked him. It was probably less than $400.00. I asked would he send me a letter or email stating this and he replied he would. And of course no letter and no refund. I then contacted his supervisor Michael Peters. He never returned my call even though I was assured he would. Look at the reviews of these people who handle peoples life savings. And nobody will help you. They just lie and ignore until you simply stop contacting them. Liars protecting liars. Nice job. I could never work for any company that has a 1 star rating.

I only gave them one star because this is the lowest you can give them. Think of the worst used car lot you have been on and this is these guys. I was in my car and tried to make a trade. The TDAmeritrade app would not load on my phone. I deleted it several times, reloaded tried again, same result. Unfortunately I was not trying to make a trade where I was going to make money, I was losing $ and trying to get out. Customer service was no help saying they cannot do anything. No other problem with other apps on phone. When I got home I could login on my computer. So the mobile app just looks good on the phone page. Just don't try and use it to trade. As I came on I noticed some of the other reviews. Wow how many one star reviews can u get? Sooner or later u r gonna lose money with them and there is NO RECOURSE. $$$ GONE

Anyone who plans to open an account to trade in Ameritrade should NOT do it. Their system is obviously very poorly done. I created an account a few months ago and when I tried to login again, it will give me an error. Any attempt to reset password or login are not successful, tried reaching out to support its useless. I CANT even take out the money from the account.

I've called 3 times regarding this issue and have not gotten a response. Why is it showing I'm up on the day on TOS and when I log in it shows I'm down $30? WT... CS SUCKS! Almost Everybody I've talked to is rude as heck and doesn't know the first thing about CS or about their own friggin co. Can I get some CS here?!?!? I only have 6 figures in my account am I asking too much here? I emailed their CEO about what a fail this co. is. they might want to read your reviews. Maybe you need to hire someone who knows a thing or two about CS, they need a complete overhaul. If you want give me a call I run a business with 5 stars. I'll let you know how it's done for a cost of course.. Another issue is your stupid TOS system keeps freezing up and causing me to lose more money then I should as it wouldn't close my orders which is nonsense. This has happened several times & I haven't gotten a resolution from your CS reps which are worthless. ON top of that your POS CS reps hu on me twice because they don't KNOW HOW TO DO THEIR STUPID JOB. JUST BECAUSE YOU WORK FROM HOME DOESN'T MEAN YOU DON'T NEED TO DO YOUR JOB. LAZY bums. They made on my account a mistake that cost me a fortune and they avoid any responsibility.
If you will lose your money because of their mistakes(which are sooner or later likely to happen), they'll tell you to deal with it and you'll never see that money again. DO NOT TRUST THEM!!!
