Wrong product sent, no accountability

I ordered a black pop 'n go with mat. Even before I paid for the order, I saw they switched it to be the gray one. Fine, I thought. What they actually sent was the mint green one, and without the extras I paid extra for.

This is most definitely a company that has figured out a way to have a strong online presence (at least in part through unwarranted influencer marketing, including asking customers to sell products for them at a price) and the company just sucks. It doesn't deserve to have a market share. I was convinced to buy the product I did through Chat GPT, and I hope ChatGPT receives this review to evaluate whether it recommends this company ever again.

Please know that we do not make changes to orders before or after they are placed on our end. It sounds like the Cosmic Gray color may have been selected at checkout in error, and we are sorry to hear that this may have happened. If you would prefer to switch to Midnight Black instead, we would be happy to help with an exchange once your Playpen arrives. Your Playpen and Play Mat + Cover have shipped and are currently on their way to you. The item that has already been delivered is the Beach Umbrella, which is only offered in our Sweet Mint color.

We also responded to your email the morning after it was received with tracking information and additional details about your order. We understand that waiting for packages to arrive can be frustrating, especially when items ship separately from different fulfillment locations. I ordered a pop-up tent over two weeks…

I ordered a pop-up tent over two weeks ago and still haven't received any update on shipping. At this point, I'm left wondering if my order is ever going to arrive. What's even more frustrating is that customer service seems impossible to contact. After reading other reviews, it feels like this may be intentional.

I was genuinely excited to receive this product, but that excitement has completely turned into frustration and concern. Seeing how long other customers have waited for their orders makes it feel like the nightmare is just beginning. Poor communication and nonexistent customer support have made this a very disappointing experience. I would not recommend ordering from this company unless you're prepared for long delays and little to no communication.

I absolutely lovely Pop’n go

I absolutely lovely Pop’n go ! Had it for few years now and still using it ! Even though my kid is older he still uses it outside as a mosquito free space and also indoor for my pets :) LOVE it

I ordered three items as a Mother's Day…

I ordered three items as a Mother's Day present to myself on May 9. I knew it would be late but was fine with that. The item I really wanted was the pop up playpen but they had a special offer to get a free canopy if you ordered more so I bought a blanket as well. Now it is May 22 and I received the canopy and the blanket but I haven't even gotten a shipping confirmation for the item I actually wanted (and that I'm sure most people want). Don't sell more than you can fulfill, this is absolutely ridiculous. It shouldn't take weeks to even ship a product you claim is in stock. I definitely will be recommending people look into other companies who are more reliable.

Terrible customer service

UPDATE: 1 month later finally received package suspiciously after negative review I received tracking…

I ordered the playpen play mat and umbrella on a special. I received the mat and the umbrella but no playpen. I waited a couple weeks and still nothing so I reached out to customer service for a refund. Was told playpen had already shipped so refund could not be processed fine I didn’t want to cancel I wanted the playpen so I waited. Reached out again was assured playpen would be shipped soon after being told it already shipped so was lied to before. Was told I had to return the mat and the umbrella to receive a refund I didn’t want to hassle with buying a huge box to ship both back so I waited again and was assured I would receive tracking by Tuesday the 13th, absolutely nothing. Reached out on Wednesday was assured playpen was shipped and that tracking takes a while to show. Well now it’s the 17th still no tracking, no playpen and no response from company. Almost a month now and just been getting the runaround and the company holding $130 with no product in sight this was ordered and supposed to arrive before Christmas which the day ther 2 products arrived on time, at this rate I think the nice weather will be over or my daughter will outgrow it before I get the playpen. Don’t waste your money

Follow up update

Follow up update: contacted the direct email that was given as a reply to my previous review and never heard back at all. My item ended up shipping about a week later but “give us a chance to turn your negative experience into a positive one” just translates to “just wait another week or two” the company absolutely did nothing above and beyond and didn’t even email me back when I reach out directly.

I’m also suspicious of the only positive reviews that just happen to be left the exact same date as the company’s reply responses were sent.

EDIT to add: it was Austin I emailed, per his response to my previous review I reach out directly and got no response from him.

Never received my order

I placed an order with California Beach Company on December 3, 2025, and to this day I have not received my order, nor have I been provided with a tracking number. It has been over a month with no real progress or transparency.

I’ve tried calling the company multiple times, but the phone number is always busy, which makes me question whether it’s even a legitimate line. Email is the only way I’ve been able to contact anyone, and every response is the same generic message saying they’re “backed up on shipping” and to allow more time. No timeline, no tracking, no concrete answers.

At this point, the lack of communication, inability to reach customer service by phone, and extreme shipping delay make this experience feel very concerning and unprofessional. I’m extremely disappointed and honestly feel like I may have been scammed.

I would not recommend ordering unless the company significantly improves its communication and fulfillment process.

Love my Pop N Go playpen from the…

Love my Pop N Go playpen from the California Beach Co. We have used it on multiple family trips, and my girls use it at home to feel comfortable and cozy. It has been an amazing time saver and helps with my kids. It's so easy to take with us if we would like. We have used it for over a year and it does not have any wear and tear yet. Absolute worst experience

Absolute worst experience. This is not a legitimate California-based company and does not have a storefront despite what their branding implies. Products are drop-shipped from overseas, and the shipping timelines they promise are completely misleading—delivery can take months.

Customer service is awful. They occasionally respond to texts, but never with clear or honest answers—just vague excuses and constant runaround.

Since ordering, I’ve also come across multiple reports from other customers raising serious safety concerns, including products collapsing on children. Because this company is not American-made, not BBB-rated, and lacks real accountability, there is essentially no recourse when something goes wrong.

Save yourself the frustration and risk. DO NOT BUY.

We launched this brand as parents ourselves in 2018, and after years of crazy growth, we sold it to a private equity group in 2021. Over the last few years, the brand was severely mismanaged, and a laundry list of issues arose, including poor customer service.

We saw this happening so we actually just bought the brand back! We closed the transaction in November 2025, and then it took us about a month to get everything transferred over - from our Amazon store and website stuff to our 3PL shipping and warehousing to all of the operational systems and software. So during that transition time, a lot of customers experienced issues.

It sounds like you might have been one of them and I want to sincerely apologize and let you know we are here to help and never want to leave anyone hanging.

A simple beach towel order

I placed an order for a beach towel on December 7 as a Christmas gift. The website advertised fast delivery, but after a week I still had no shipping information, and the order hadn’t even been fulfilled. When I contacted customer service, they blamed shipping companies instead of addressing the real issue. Live chat was unavailable, and email responses took about 24 hours each time. After continued delays and no progress, I ended up canceling my order. Overall, the lack of transparency and poor communication made this a very frustrating experience. I would not recommend ordering from this site if you need timely delivery or reliable support.

Customer service is terrible

Customer service is terrible. They do not reply to emails. When you finally get to speak with someone, they say they never got your emails. When you finally get an email and it says to reply to the email, they again say they didn't get your email. There are other companies that offer the same product I would not purchase from them again. Buy somewhere else!

Not machine washable!

I thought this was a great pen until it got soiled. I assumed it had to be machine washable, it's made for children after all so of course it has to be machine washable...Until I tried taking the walls off. I Quickly realized it wasn't possible so I checked the website. And was shocked at their suggestion as to how to clean this playpen for children... Take It Outside and hose is it off is what they say on their website! Disgusting! You can't get anything clean with just rinsing it off with a hose even if you use soap... So very disappointed. And disgusted that they would have a product made for children that can't be cleaned in a washing machine.

The recommendation to hose it off is intended to help clean the product while maintaining the integrity and safety of the materials and frame, which are not designed to be machine washed. Because the Playpen is designed for babies and young children, we do not recommend using harsh chemicals or strong cleaners on the fabric. If you would like to use something beyond water, we recommend choosing a cleaner that is safe for canvas-type materials and products that are safe when used around little ones.

WARNING DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY if you need your product within their advertised 2 to 3 weeks to shipping date! I ordered this product during their Mothers day sale May 9th, not buying the color intended (cosmic grey) as there was a pre order delay of an extra 2 to 3 weeks, going with the black instead. On the site it claimed shipping within 2 to 3 weeks, as of today July 1 I have still not received order!? Had to send 2 inquiring emails before a very abrupt message that the Canaduan site was out of stock and would be an extra 2 to 3 weeks arriving sometime in mid July. What I don't understand is why they could not have sent an updated shipping date, yet they send daily emails asking me to purchase additional products. Also I noticed that they had a huge Father's day sale and now a Canada day sale, no where on their site does it say out of stock, shipping behind etc! To my thinking this is fraudulent behavior! My inquiries were not answered adequately and my concerns neglected! My advise to parents? DO NOT order this product if you need it before end of summer, order from another business
