The Ice Cream Farm is Cheshire's award-winning, family-friendly tourist attraction bursting with all the fun you need in Cheshire - open 7 days a week. The centrepiece is The Parlour, which just happens to hold the Guinness World Record for the ‘Largest Ice Cream Shop’ on the planet where you can choose from more than 50 flavours of award-winning Cheshire Farm Ice Cream. There are play attractions aplenty too; from the giant snowing ice cream tree and playground in Daisy’s Garden to the ball pit and slides in the soft play, to reaching the sky on Marshmallow Mound, to Europe’s largest indoor sand and water experience. At The Ice Cream Farm there’s a place to play indoors and outdoors come rain or shine. With playing being hungry work, you can also grab light bites from Pitstop and Pizza Piazza or visit main restaurant Sticky Paws, a family-friendly dining venue with QR code ordering, tasty small dishes perfect for sharing, unlimited squash for the kids and refillable hot drinks for the grown-ups.

Have to be honest as a family we found…

Have to be honest as a family we found the experience really stressful and feel pricing should have been explained at the front desk.
Young lad asked if we had been before, we said we hadn't. He said it was £9.50.

We paid £9.50 on entrance. We were not told we would have to pay to use the park or 'zones'.

We paid an extra £4.50 to use the park.
We paid £4.50 to use the water zone.
We have a 2 year old who is currently potty training.
Due to the nature of the play baby gets wet. We go to change baby and use potty. Have to pay £4.50 to come back in.
Spoke to manager who then told us about a day pass for £16.
We then also purchased the day pass.
At this point we had already spent more than this coming in and out of zones with a toddler wanting to explore.

Bouncy air had an 8 min limit on. Appreciate it was busy and they had to limit the time but became very costly to then have to pay again another £4.50 for another 8 min slot. We didn't use the full time as had to come off to do potty.. was told we would have to pay again. Found this really unfair. Surely if you have paid you should be able to use it for the day.
£4.50 every 8 mins is mind blowing.

We wouldn't return on the basis of the zones just not being family friendly for us.
It was impossible to keep a 2 year old who wanted to explore and be charged to move around.
There should be one set fee to pay at the desk on arrivial.

We qued twice for the car for 35 mins each time but still didn't make it to the front due to demand on the day and the heat.
More seating needed and shade.

We did buy ice cream, jacket potato pizza and drinks. Staff at the food stations were friendly but we waited almost 1 hour for 2 M sized pizzas which were surprizingly small.

Sadly we wouldn't return. A real shame because the facilities are fantastic but can't recommend for little ones.

Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We are sorry for the stress and inconvenience you experienced during your visit. Your comments are valuable and help us identify areas where we can improve. We have requested additional information to assist us in this process and to determine if any team members may need further training, but unfortunately, we have not yet received a response.
We understand that clear communication about pricing is essential, especially when visiting with young children, and we regret that this was not made more transparent at Admissions. We will review our team training to ensure that all visitors receive clear and consistent information upfront.
Regarding our attractions, our team often use discretion to allow re-entry to Honeycomb Canyon sand and water play areas. Additionally, there are toilets located within the attraction, so there should be no need to leave to access bathroom facilities. For Marshmallow Mound Bouncy Pillows, visitors are provided with a wristband for all-day access when using a Play Pass, which should have been the case during your visit.
We acknowledge that wait times for food can be longer on busy days, and we’re sorry that the meals did not meet your expectations. Your feedback about seating and shaded areas is very helpful, and we are working towards providing more comfortable spaces for families to relax.
We appreciate your visit and your honest review. While we regret that your experience did not meet your expectations, we hope to have the opportunity to improve and provide a better experience for families in the future.
We would be grateful if you could email us at info@theicecreamfarm.co.uk with any details such as your Play Pass number or visit dates so we can investigate the points you've raised further.
Thank you again for your constructive feedback.

Daylight Robbery !

ASmall tubs of ice cream on sale at £3.50 each.
Local farm shop sells the identical tubs at £1.50 each !
RIP off, any comment from the owner ?
*Got a reply which was ambiguous.
The manufacture is done at the same site, by a brother's business.
Still doesn't explain why there is such a price differential.
Not impressed !

Hi Alan, Thanks for your comment. The Ice Cream Farm is a tourist attraction, and the ice cream sold on site is supplied by Cheshire Farm Ice Cream. We don’t produce or supply the ice cream ourselves, and unfortunately we don’t have control over the pricing set by other retailers selling the same products elsewhere. We appreciate your feedback and hope you still enjoyed your visit.

In response to your edit, while Cheshire Farm Ice Cream is based on the same site, it is a completely separate business. Like any supplier, they provide products to a range of different retailers, all of whom set their own pricing based on their individual operating costs and overall experience offering.

As a visitor attraction, our pricing reflects much more than just the product itself. We don’t receive the ice cream for free, and we purchase it just like any other retailer.

We always aim to offer a great overall experience and value during your visit, and we do appreciate you sharing your feedback.

Avoid if you can

I am massively disappointed with The Ice Cream Farm in Chester. What used to be a lovely day out has turned into a complete nightmare. The place is far too overcrowded, and you end up spending more time standing in queues than actually enjoying anything. We waited nearly 30 minutes for most things – including over 25 minutes just for ice cream – and when it finally arrived, the order was wrong.

The attractions are poorly maintained too. The bubble tree barely worked, sometimes not at all. Inside, the soft play area is filthy – it feels like one giant bin. No one is cleaning, and the toilets are in the same dreadful state.

To make matters worse, the staff are rude. In particular, a blonde young girl at the bouncing attraction was shockingly unprofessional and upsetting. Customer service is clearly not a priority here anymore.

I visited three years ago and it was so much better. Sadly, the place has shifted from caring about quality to cramming in as many people as possible. It’s clear quantity has taken over, and visitors’ experiences have plummeted as a result.

Highly NOT recommended, especially on weekends or bank holidays. Save your time and money – I certainly won’t be coming back. Massive disappointment.

Antwort von The Ice Cream Farm

Hi Adam,

Firstly, I want to apologise for the experience you had during your recent visit to The Ice Cream Farm. I’m truly sorry to hear that your visit didn’t meet your expectations and that you were left feeling disappointed. Your feedback is extremely important to us, and I can assure you that we take concerns like yours very seriously.

We are sorry that you experienced long queues, incorrect orders, and attractions that were not up to standard. This is certainly not the experience we aim to provide, and I understand how frustrating it must have been to wait for such a long time only to receive the wrong order - we do hope you raised this with the team at the time. With regards to the soft play area and the toilets, we’ve raised these issues with the relevant teams to ensure immediate attention is given to improve both cleanliness.

Regarding the team member you mentioned, I’m sorry to hear about your negative interaction. That is certainly not the level of customer service we strive for, and we will passing this onto the relevant department Manager. Everyone who visits should feel welcomed and well cared for, and it’s clear we’ve fallen short in this instance.

We are continuously working to improve, and your feedback helps us identify areas where we need to do better. We’ve made some changes since your last visit three years ago, and we are aware that with growth comes challenges in maintaining the same quality of service. We will be looking at how we can better manage peak times and improve our overall visitor experience, especially during busy periods like weekends and bank holidays.

Thank you again for sharing your feedback. I hope you’ll consider giving us another chance in the future.

Not like it used to be

Been coming for a few years, as others have said it's nothing like it used to be. You pay to go in a jam packed park where your child can't use any of the facilities as they're too crowded, then £4.50 to go in a smaller park which is also jam packed ? I'd pay the price if it was less busy. £4.50 for everything (or you can buy the play pass but again everything is too busy to use). Queued up for 15 minutes for a £2 car that was around 60 seconds long. Paid £18.50 for ice creams and as soon as they passed them they started melting dripping everywhere, nowhere to sit so we were all covered in ice cream stood up with a baby screaming. Won't be coming again unfortunately and feel they have taken a nice ice cream farm that used to have animals to a money pit for themselves. Such a shame!

Hi Katie, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback, we’re really sorry to hear that your recent visit didn’t live up to what you were hoping for, especially as someone who’s been visiting us for a few years.

We understand how disappointing it can be when things feel overcrowded and you're not able to make the most of the attractions, that’s not the experience we want for any of our visitors. Please be assured we do have a set capacity for both our attractions and the site as a whole as health and safety is of top importance.

As for the changes over the years, we completely understand that some visitors miss the animals and the simpler setup we used to have. We’ve tried to evolve the experience into something fun and engaging for all ages and the animals are still free to view on the field next to The Drive In.

Thank you again for your honesty and we will take these comments onboard as we continue to improve.

Overall our first experience of the ice…

Overall our first experience of the ice cream farm was great and the kids loved it. So much so that when we went to go back onto the marshmallow mound we found it closed before 3pm I did ask the staff and was told it was closed for the day this is over 3hrs before venue shuts which I found very odd and upset the kids.
The water and sand play was again ok, however the first water activity area was not working. The bubble/snow tree outside was a hit but blink and you will miss it. It’s lasts about 30secs !!!
Overall it was an ok day but disappointing the above few things let it down.

Big decline over the last few years

Have been coming here for 10 years in all weathers.
Very disappointing experience yesterday. Temperature outside was approx 5 degrees.
Water play area was freezing. Asked in the water area to put the heating on and staff member advised no heating - which has not been the case in the past.
Small children playing in water in cold temperatures is surely a health and safety risk.

Ate lunch in the restaurant. It was freezing in there as well. Food was poor - one ham toastie was full of fatty inedible bits - and not good value for money. Drinks for children were cans but had to ask staff twice for a glass. Restaurants used to be amazing and it has declined a lot which is a shame.

Small cars by the golf used to be £1 for 2 or 3 goes around the track. Now £2 for one circuit of about 60 seconds.

Tree at centre used to blow out huge bubbles of foam. Now it’s a very poor effort.

Really disappointing considering the cost of the activities these days.

Hi,

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We appreciate your loyalty over the years and we’re very sorry to hear about your disappointing experience.

Due to its large area, Honeycomb Canyon is impossible to keep heated and we cannot heat the water, due to it coming fresh and direct from a bore hole. This is why we do recommend little ones are dressed to match the weather conditions outside, as these are often reflected inside Honeycomb Canyon.

We're sorry you were disappointed in our restaurant offering, our team would have been more than happy to get you a replacement meal on the day of your visit. However, we have passed your comments onto our Food Manager who is going to look into improving the quality and value of food and drink offerings at the restaurant to meet the standards we’ve previously set.

Please know your feedback is valuable to us, and we’re committed to making improvements. Thank you again for bringing these matters to our attention.

Terrible customer service

Booked Santa experience and it was the weekend of the storm. Emailed them Thursday before to check what was happening, they assured me in an email the next day they would be open, no offer of a refund at this stage. So we went only to be told when we arrived they had decided to close. 2 hour trip to get there, crying children and no decency from the company. Sent another email to them and they didn't even bother replying. Money making scheme with no customer care.

Hello Miss Martin,

Thank you for providing more details about your booking.

I can see that we communicated with all visitors, including yourself, on December 6th after your email requesting to move your booking. At that time, we informed you that we planned to open, but we were closely monitoring the weather conditions. We also offered alternative dates in case you didn’t feel it was safe to travel.

I’m really sorry to hear you didn’t take us up on the offer to reschedule. As mentioned, we did have every intention of opening the Grotto on 7th December. Unfortunately, it wasn’t until the morning of the event that we realised the significant impacts of the weather. After assessing the situation, we saw that several main routes had been blocked due to fallen trees and flooding, and we had to make the tough decision to cancel the event. We really didn’t want to let anyone down, especially at such a special time of year, but health and safety is of paramount importance.

On the morning of the event, we were already in touch with visitors, but we also experienced a power cut, which made it harder for us to communicate through our booking system, phones, and emails.

That said, I can confirm our team was able to reach you by phone and issued a full refund for your booking that same morning.

We sincerely apologise if your email was missed during the large amount of communication we received over those few days. It’s never our intention to overlook any of our visitors, and we hope that the information provided above, along with your phone conversation on the day, helps clarify the situation.

Thank you again for your understanding.

Not a farm in any sense

Not a farm in any sense. £2.50 each to get in which seemed cheap until we were in and realised you have to pay for everything separately, £4.50 each for mini golf, £4.50 for sand and water play, £1 for one circuit on the “quad bikes”, the play park is really small, ice creams are over priced and not one cow or animal in site.
How can it call its-self a farm with no animals, I asked a lady on the golf kiosk if there are any cows and she seemed confused about what a cow was until I said the animal?
Really wish I’d of looked into this more instead of just seeing ice cream farm and thinking it was a farm where they made ice cream, maybe a name change to ice cream land would help with the confusion and disappointment.
Would be ok for kids ages 3-4 who knew there were no animals and could just play on the park and spend a fortune on the other activities.

Overcrowding and Poor Service

We recently visited the Ice Cream Farm, and while the concept is lovely, the experience was severely marred by the sheer number of people allowed in. The place was overcrowded to the point where you could barely move, and every activity had long, frustrating waits. Even a simple game of golf had a 5-10 minute wait per hole, which left our kids overwhelmed, bored, and frustrated.

Most of the staff were friendly, but our experience at the ice cream counter was particularly upsetting. We clearly explained that the Nutella needed to be at the bottom of the pot with vanilla on top due to my son’s autism. Despite checking with us twice, the staff member still got it wrong. When I politely requested it be redone, she became visibly irritated, huffing and rolling her eyes. Even after explaining that my son is autistic and needs things to be done as requested, she walked off in a huff. Eventually, we had the ice cream remade with just vanilla to avoid further upset, but by that time, my son was too overwhelmed to enjoy it, and the ice cream had nearly melted.

Looking around, it was clear that every other activity had similarly long queues, making it impossible for us to enjoy anything else. We were there for over 2 hours and only did 3 small games. What could have been a lovely family day out was instead chaotic and stressful. The farm seriously needs to reconsider how many people they allow in at once to prevent such a disappointing experience for others.

On a positive note, when we ordered gluten-free ice cream, the staff automatically changed their gloves and asked if we needed an unopened tub or if we were okay with the opened ones. This attention to detail was appreciated and showed that they do take dietary needs seriously.

Not the nice, quaint place it used to be and far too crowded

I was having a drive through the Cheshire countryside and noticed I was near this place. Thought I'd drop in a buy a couple of tubs of ice cream to take home. The last time I came here was some years ago and it was a small, quaint, friendly place - gift shop, ice cream shop and cows being milked next door. It has changed for the worse. A big complex full of (so called) activites for kids and far too crowded to be safe. I was shocked when I was told that the price of a large tub of ice cream was £8!!! What?? Snugbury's is not far away and the ice cream is half the price and just as good, if not better. I am surprised that people can afford to take their kids here. Will definitely be giving this place a miss next time I am in the area.

I recently visited the ice cream farm…

I recently visited the ice cream farm during a busy summer day and found it extremely welcoming even with how busy it was. I came with my daughter who is 3 and she absolutely loved her day out. We had a go on Marshmallow Mound and had a round of Crazy Golf. We went into the Sticky Paws restaurant for some lunch where a very helpful gentleman I think he said his name was Luke gave some great advice on what I should have as I wasn’t wanting that big a meal and showed my recommended my daughter the pizza as he said it was his favourite. I could not recommend this place more to bring your family to

Poor experience

Place was good for children, was overbooked though if you ask me, couldn't move, like sardines in a tin. Food was a real shambles. £8 for a plain beef burger, that tasted awful, even kids turned their nose up at it, and the pasta wasn't even cooked properly. How do u mess up pasta of all things. Nearly £30 for food that homeless would turn their nose up at. All In all a poor experience, the customer service was also nonexistent. Not one of the staff smiled the whole 3 hours we was there. Focus more on the play for the children, get rid of the food and hire some staff that could turn that frown upside down.

If the hospital can charge you to park your car when your sick. Well, try to entertain your children, and the policy is "how much can they get away with".

You know when your just trying to keep the kids entertained...... well it does. One very low price entrance (thank you for not charging me for parking, just because you can). Some things inside the ventue you pay for other things you don't. I think it would be better to charge more to get in, so one doesnt have to walk around with pound coins. Only 2 go carts, diggers not working, no animals to see. Lovely play ground but we went when it was wet and there wasn't anything or anybody to wipe stuff down. The foam tree was a great idea but a bit pathetic when it came for 15 seconds every 15 minutes. It really wasn't a bubble bath.

The indoor water park was the best bit.

Then there was the ice cream, nice flavour, but please £3.50 for one scoop and £4.75 for two. £7.25 for 4 scoops, I'd say that was a bit steep, not that I know anyone who wants 4 scoops.

Restaurant was very basic with the cheapest fast food, without fast food prices. Gift shop your forced to walk through, (is there any trick, thats to low). All the usual tate, with £7 fridge magnets, and £5 squeezy, rubber toys that your kid trys to get you to buy, only to find they can actually live without it.

All in all, worth it compared to how other venues try to milk us everytime.

Chaos, cacophony and crowding.

Overcrowding in all areas.
Uncontrolled activities and unsupervised children scaring young children.
Hogging of equipment by older children.
Inadequate activities for younger children( 2 years old).
No control or supervision on marshmallow pillows. No staff on access point or monitoring activity.
Uncontrolled boys of around 10 years of age using the pillow for 2-5 year olds. Running and somersaulting and scaring my five year old granddaughter to tears
Marshmallows then closed due to temperature so she could not go back on when the boys had left.
Queued for 30 minutes for ice creams. No tables available. No staff cleaning tables during this period.
Staff wearing protective gloves observed to fix hair and touch face parts without changing gloves.
Staff preparing and serving food without correct PPE.
Open bins in food outlets.
Inadequate cleaning of floors, work surfaces and food contact areas.
Chaotic and uncontrolled queueing at rides.
Children that did not meet height requirements being allowed on some rides ( I had to keep my 2 year old grandson off rides as he was too small for all of them.
As there is no advance warning of height restrictions, you only find out at the ticket booth so many children were disappointed.
I purchased activity tickets on line but did not actually take the tickets as my 2 small grandchildren were upset and unhappy due to the overcrowding, noise, chaos and lack of activities for their height and age.
We left the farm and I realised I had made an obvious error in buying activity tickets and so asked for a refund.
The farm have so far, twice refused to provide a refund as their policy is that tickets can be used for a return visit for up to 2 years, or can be passed on to someone else.
After my experience there, I would never return, so this policy is of no use to me. Yet they still refuse to provide a refund.
Customer care, customer service or customer satisfaction seem to mean nothing - all about the money.
