I do not recommend AON!
I do not recommend AON. The information required to submit a claim is beyond invasive! Why do they need dx codes as well as medical records? The doctor's signature stating I'm unable to travel should suffice. 24 hours after submitting the paperwork, my claim was denied with a statement that I purchased the insurance AFTER I got ill which was incorrect. It was over a month later that I was hospitalized. If they'd reviewed all that invasive information they requested, they would have known that. I finally got it approved with an email stating that I would receive another email within 5 days on how I wish to receive payment. Of course that email never came. I called and was told that it was too late for electronic payment and I would receive a paper check. It took almost 2 weeks but the checks finally came. What a nightmare! They will do all they can to not payout!
Do not buy this travel insurance get a different company…
I purchased this for my Royal Caribbean trip in October. I realized that it would not cover the trip cancellation because I had paid for my vacation in full at the time of booking. I asked this company for a refund of the premium because I would like to cancel the policy and was told that I could not get a refund. I canceled the Royal Caribbean trip, had to pay the $500 cancellation fee because I have been very ill and am unable to go. I feel that it is extremely unfair that they cannot refund a policy that is not even going to be used because the trip has been canceled.
Absolute con job
Absolute con job. AON is the "suggested" travel insurance company for Norwegian Cruise Lines. I think the reason they are suggested is because Norwegen owns AON or knows they how crooked they are. We booked a cruise to the Med / Italy before Trump decided to attack Iran for no reason. That put our cruise date and ship....squarely in range of an Iranian drone. Several of our party of 10 are veterans, meaning PTSD became a factor in deciding to cancel a Med cruise in the middle of a war. To substantiate anxiety / PTSD claims AON required doctors notes of treatment dates and meds.......but as soon as we provided that AON immediately said no to refunds on the cruise because we were "pre-existing" . So they made us prove PTSD...then used that proof against us by saying our condition was "pre-existing". Catch 22. Fraud more like it. Instead of refunding us for what we paid...because we cancelled for a valid reason....which BTW is the entire function of a travel insurance company......AON immediately sent OUR money back to Norwegian....FORCING us to cruise Norwegian at a later date......or we lose all of our money. So it's not "travel insurance". AON is a scam company designed to return OUR MONEY to Norwegian Cruise Lines so Norwegian Cruise Lines don't lose a sale. Apparently there is collusion between Norwegian Cruise Lines and AON to do this on a constant basis. We are FORCED to cruise Norwegian again to get value back for our money they are holding.........but one more cruise and no one in our party of 10 will EVER cruise Norwegian again. And hell will freeze before we EVER use AON Travel Insurance again. AON deserves the bottom of the barrel ratings they have. Every bit of it.
I am still waiting for my claim to be…
I am still waiting for my claim to be resolved since April 5. the company does not sufficiently review documentation provided and asks for information they already have thus adding on 10 days further for review delaying any payment for loss or delay. i do not recommend using them if at all possible.
Terrible Terrible experience with them
Terrible Terrible experience with them. My husband died and thus we had to cancel our cruise. He died Feb 14,2026. I have recorded multiple calls to AON and they use delay delay delay tactics and still have not paid out the full refund. They have made a difficult situation more stressful by their avoid paying out tactics!
Contact the Better Business Bureau
I will spare you the details of our experience and jump to the advice. If you have a legitimate claim and are being given the run-around, contact the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint. After three months of getting the run-around from Aon, I filed a BBB complain and had my money in a week.
I had an extremely disappointing…
I had an extremely disappointing experience with Aon Affinity Travel Insurance. I purchased coverage expecting peace of mind in case something unexpected happened but, when I actually needed to use it, they made the process unnecessarily difficult and insensitive.
I had to cancel a cruise because my friend passed away unexpectedly. Instead of showing any compassion, the company required a death certificate and even asked for the cause of death. This felt incredibly invasive and inappropriate, especially considering the situation and the fact that this was a close friend, not an immediate family member.
To make matters worse, they ultimately refused to provide a full refund and only offered a 75% credit. That is completely unacceptable. I paid for travel insurance specifically to protect my investment in situations like this, and instead it feels like they looked for any reason to avoid paying out the full claim.
What is the point of having insurance if, when something tragic happens, you’re met with red tape, lack of empathy, and partial reimbursement? I would not recommend Aon Affinity Travel Insurance to anyone. Save your money or look for a provider that actually supports you when you need it most.
Aon Affinity Does NOT Care About Military!
***UPDATING TO ADD***
They are money-hungry scam artists. Im not even sure what they cover at this point. Incredibly disappointing they do not support our military members.
In December of 2025, I booked a cruise for my husband and myself. It was scheduled for 3/14/26 - 3/21/26. My husband has been a contractor with the US govt assisting in operations overseas in the Middle East since 2020. He is a USMC vet and has been proudly serving with our country since 2015. His most deployment rotation began November of 2025 and he was scheduled to return home early March before the cruise. Out of every year, he is gone for around 9 months. We were very excited to go on this vacation, and he has a high-stress job and we are rarely able to go on vacation. On 2/28/26, the war began. We didn’t know how long it would last, but inevitably, airspace at his location closed and his flight was cancelled. We held out hope for a little bit hoping he would still be able to make it home, but it didn’t work out. On 3/4/26, I cancelled the flights and cruise and filed a claim with Aon for the trip, as my husband was stuck in conflict and there were riots happening at his location. After 2 1/2 weeks of not hearing, I called on 3/23/26 and was told I’d receive communications within 10 days. I received an email 3/25/26 advising me my claim was denied because war and attacks just so happen to be excluded. I understand they have that disclaimer because if anything devastating happened stateside, they would have to pay out for a lot of people. But for one person, especially someone who is sacrificing his life defending a compound and getting hit by rockets? We have absolutely no idea when he’s going to be able to come home, and It feels immoral and it’s excruciatingly disheartening that they lack any moral compass to support him. The last disclaimer I would think to look for is war, but this could not have been prevented in any way, shape, or form, and now we have to suffer even more than we already are.
AON Travel / BAD NEWS
AON travel insurance stay away. You are better off with no coverage they don't pay and make you jump through hoops. What a bunch of crooks. I am mad at Carnival Cruise Line for referring this crappy travel insurance on their website checkout and won't lift a finger to help you. It gives you a false sense of security, until you make a claim. BEWARE!!!!!!!! Thanks to Trust Pilot for helping to expose this money grab. I am sure Carnival gets a kick back from these crooks, so they don't tell you the name of the company until it's too late. Reviews (1.2 Stars) pretty sad. Shame on you "AON Travel Insurance"
My husband with Parkinson's, got worse before trip and claim was denied!
My husband has Parkinson's Disease and we booked a trip with Norwegian. About 2 months before the trip my husband experienced a big change in his PD, so much so that I decided to cancel our trip because he would not be able to tolerate it. Our claim was denied due to "pre-existing condition". Well. Parkinson's has intermittent dips and peaks and what happened in the week I canceled was not a symptom he had previously experienced. We sent an MD letter. I spoke directly with the claims examiners a number of times, maybe I was allowed to because I am an RN. I finally asked the background of the claims examiner working on our claim. She proudly stated she had a degree in medical coding. I asked if there were any RNs NP's or MDs that could re-review our claim. "there aren't any"...
I want to know how a company making medical claims determinations does not have a single RN or MD on staff. We are out of over $4000 and it is ridiculous. I've read many of these reviews and agree that no one should buy insurance from this company. I am going to call Norwegian. If we all complain to the cruise line, maybe they will fire these scheisters!
COMPLETE CROCK OF CRAP BUSINESS
Only get one star because that is LOWEST choice. What a waste of money. Purchased thru NORWEGIAN CRUISE LINE --whole completely different mistake. Had to cancel cruise because 1st-flight cancelled due to winter snow storm. NORWEGIAN CRUISE LINE AIR TRAVEL rebooked flight for next day to fly into Atlanta then direct to Dominican Republic to catch cruise the following day. This in 2025. Denied boarding because did not have (not told by NORWEGIAN AIR DIVISION) that QR code-permisison from Dominican Republic to fly into the country. OUT ALMOST $4000.00. AON TRAVEL PROTECTION PLAN A COMPLETE CROCK OF CRAP--$ZERO
I wish that I would have read the…
I wish that I would have read the reviews to see that they were poor. On March 6th my husband and I traveled from Indianapolis to Chicago to Miami for a cruise. Unfortunately our flight was delayed because of the weather and heavy fog in Chicago. The flight to Miami arrived in at 6 pm, which was too late for us to make our boat. So we decided to cancel. Every since then it has been me jumping through hoops for AON and with very little information given from them. The representatives are not helpful and you cannot get straight answers. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
DO NOT BUY THIS TRAVEL INSURANCE
DO NOT BUY THIS TRAVEL INSURANCE. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT BUY THIS THING, ITS A SCAM. IF YOU GIVE MONEY TO THESE PEOPLE, YOU ARE AN IDIOT.
We missed our cruise because of the TSA…
We missed our cruise because of the TSA employees called in sick.
It took us over 3 hours to get through security to make our flight.
Aon insurance denied our claim.
What a terrible and misleading company.
Do not purchase travel insurance through this company
They are taking your money and running away with it.

Very disappointed
Very disappointed, I took a cruise and was medically disembarked and I was in the critical care unit in Gibraltar UK. Aon did reimburse for lost days on the cruise and for what my health insurance didn't cover, However I explained over and over that I didn't not have any flight expenses because my husband works for an airline. I did have to pay for transportation from Gibraltar UK to the nearest international airport.
Aon has refused to reimburse this expensive even though this would have been cheaper than having to reimburse me for airline tickets expensive. Their lack of understanding anything outside their cookie cutter script makes it very difficult to deal with them.
Poor communication
My wife and I planned a cruise to celebrate the end of her cancer treatments. At the time we booked our cruise she was not experiencing the side effects anywhere close to what she was after the treatments were over. On top of that, she tested positive for Covid three weeks prior to the cruise. Her oncologist told her that she should not proceed with the cruise. This was documented and forwarded to AON. Apparently that was not enough. They also told us that she was required to have a Doctor’s Covid test documented, and the home test was not accepted as proof. We are very disappointed with the lack of communication from AON. We sent many documents and received a confirmation of reception. When they did not reply, we called and they said they had not received anything. This happened more than once. If you purchase, you better believe they will do anything possible to get out of refunding as promised. We are so disappointed.
Terrible will give back the money even…
Terrible will give back the money even if you're Dr says you canceled because you can't travel because you have Cancer. Disgusting company so don't travel with CARNIVAL CRUISE LINE.
Negative stars
Wish there were an option for negative stars. This place is a SCAM! I made the reservation 8/14/25 for a cruise 4/4/26 paid in FULL. AON claims celebrity didn’t send it to them until 1/6/26. I was diagnosed 12/24/25 with a critical medical issue which will require extensive surgery/treatment making it unable to travel. AON is stating it was a “pre existing condition” which is obviously is inaccurate. I’ve contacted BBB and Celebrity to investigate.
Deserves 0 stars
Deserves 0 stars. They are a scam company. You basically need to die to receive a claim. Carnival Cruise Lines uses Aon and they suck too!
Once again I send the same info to you. It has now been 5 months
Once again, here is the claim #. You will note it hasn't changed on any of the previous emails I have sent to you! #3483608. As I told you before, YOU connect AA if you want the engineering report on the part that caused the aircraft to go 'out of service'. Once again, here is the AA reference number. AARef#1-38470994157
