I really like UrbanSitter
I really like UrbanSitter, I mean the families who have hired me through US have truly welcomed me in their family and have been supportive. I also likes the fact that, whenever I have a question or I am confronted with a problem, I can reach to the staff. Their webpage is great too and easy to navigate. However, I wish that the rates were more up to date with current market. Most of the time, when I was hired, it was the family who would contact me and not the other way around (me responding to open positions).

My account has been blocked on UrbanSitter. I've been trying to reach them for two months, they don't answer my phone calls, they don't answer my letters. I do not know what to do. I was earning my income from here. I have been unemployed for two months. From here I want to say to them Please restore my account or help me open a new account.

(UPDATE TO MY INITIAL COMPLAINT) I re-read your policy and noticed that nowhere does it explain WHEN AND HOW an Urbansitter sitter's account is to be removed from hidden status. I had my membership renewed only a month ago and again, as aforementioned, this is my sole source of income so being able to use my account again is vital. Your prompt response is needed here.

I could have given a 5 star rating to Urbansitter a month ago but ever since they hid my account (equivalent to blocking my account so no parents can see my profile and I cannot respond to ads) and I tried to send them numerous messages about this, ALL OF THEM WERE COMPLETELY IGNORED AS IF MY MESSAGES AND I ALL DO NOT EXIST. My account was renewed last month and this is my sole source of income. I lost hundreds of potential clients for much-needed money to support my household just because of this blockage.
One thing I noticed is that there is NO explanation of when my account won't be hidden any longer. Can you please show me where exactly in your policy pertains to my situation?
I have 5 star reviews from many clients which includes repeated bookings, have a Master's degree and many years of both teaching and providing high-quality educator caregiving to my name and am being treated just like a scam artist. Obviously, you do not care at all about my presence on Urbansitter of providing high quality care to clients nor my huge loss of income.
I am going to be resorting to help from my lawyer friends as well as current Urbansitter clients to speak with you soon if I do not receive an immediate response.

No email reminders of upcoming bills - shady practice
They don't send email reminders that you're being billed, which allows them to take advantage of customers missing the charge, sometimes for months after you stop using their service.

Great experience as a sitter!
I’ve been a sitter on UrbanSitter since about 2012 or 2013, and I have zero complaints! Anytime I have ever had to reach out to their support team I get a quick response and they have been able to resolve my issue to my complete satisfaction. I especially appreciated their help several years ago when a parent I worked with seriously understated the extent of their child’s special needs, and I simply did not have the necessary training to continue working with them. I have made my living as a babysitter/nanny for over 10 years now, and the families I have found via UrbanSitter have been great — many of them are friends as well as clients now! I could not be happier with my experience!

Talk about a rip-off
My partner was not getting any traction on work and all the interesting situations were too far to commute to. So, after two months, she just stopped trying.
Now, a year later, on August 7, they charged my account, which apparently was on auto-renew, something I was unaware of. And when I contacted them, they said they give no refunds under any circumstance.
What? Someone who already wasted a year's subscription is going to get charged for another year of non-use. No wonder people have complained that you are ripping people off.
No one who has any sense of fairness will charge people something for which they do not use. No reputable company will do that.
Avoid Urbansitter. They only care about making money not helping people find work.

I will give you zero star. I signed up and paid $44.95 and I did not receive an email with the background link to complete my background check. When I reached out you decided to delete my account. What a scam! You should refund my money in full. You can’t be ripping off people like that. This should stop and you should be banned completely

So I signed up for this company last year in the summertime I got no luck and I also signed up again this year no luck as well I believe that this company is racist they look out for their own kind I don't see no blacks working there never even heard of a black person working there. Now care.com maybe one or two and that's very rare but you guys need to do something about this I don't know how y'all going to fix this problem or what not but there are people here that is willing and trying to work and for the families to deny your application yes and close it without no apparent reason they can't even respond back and I figured as though that this should be discussed by the owner and you guys need to do something about this like it's racism and that's all I say and that's all I can see they don't respond back to you applications after they closed it or told you what was going on or wrong or what not it's like they don't care and damn it I'm tired if anybody going to speak about this s*** I will

If I could give 0 I would. This company needs to be shut down. They have the most unethical practices and some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Not only did they hide my profile so I could not longer use the services I paid for. Mind you I have 88+ 5 star reviews, 45+ repeat families, and over 250 bookings and was using the service for 6+ years. I wait until they say I can renew. I reach out when that time comes around and of course no one answers, what else is new. This is basically a company just stealing money from the users. They do not vet parents and have zero care for the babysitters and nannies they want to use it...without us you do not have a business. They let me renew my membership of course then deny me. I WANT A REFUND ASAP. I will not stop until I write a review everywhere one can be left.

No advance notice of auto renewal and no refund!
UrbanSitter makes money via auto-renewal. Which I get but they do not notify you in advance that you will be charged an upcoming renewal fee. I canceled the service the same day that I was billed the auto-renewal and they refused to refund my money. AVOID. Only use if you’d like to continue paying for no services.

Bad experience on many an occasion. Avoid
We've had an awful experience using this service. Twice the babysitters canceled at the last minute and we had no recourse for further action. US doesn't do anything either - not even an apology. Avoid at all cost.

They trick you into doing a monthly subscription and then right after you have to do the care pass background check or else you cannot proceed to the site and they don't refund your money once you do the monthly subscription. So they're just tricking you don't fall for it they're scammers big time you have to pay $50 up front
