great site but membership is mistake!
I have gotten WONDERFUL jobs off UrbanSitter. Reliable, friendly families that have remained long term friends and even led to more work! However, the reason for the 3 stars is the fee they are charging. I understand that they are running are business and need to make money, and say that it will “draw in more families” and will be a better experience for all. While that may be true, they shouldn’t charge to do it, especially if they take a chunk of our earnings. I unfortunately have had to switch to other care sites, and know other sitters who have as well. It was great while it lasted and I’m going off of the jobs I had while it was still free, but this membership fee is completely unnecessary. If you’re lucky enough to have money to spare (which is not most nannies I don’t think?) then by all means UrbanSitter is great. But if you’re looking to save money, there are plenty of other free safe options out there.

Either you don’t receive a reply or sitters cancel on short notice. Not one reliable sitter found. Waste of money for registration and time. Just frustrating. Best method is to ask friends and colleagues at work to find a good sitter.

Grateful for UrbanSitter!
I was able to support myself through college with UrbanSitter! I always love the families that I meet on UrbanSitter and have had nothing but great experiences.
It was easy to keep a flexible schedule so that I could make time to study and see my friends while still maintaining an active babysitting schedule. Now that I have a FT job post-graduation, I keep babysitting a couple of times a week after work just to maintain a steady side-income.
I recommend trying UrbanSitter to find babysitting jobs if you're looking for new families!

Hi and finding a job I have not found one but I did found someone who was trying to scam my account and UrbanSitter took care of the issue fast and found the person;so I was happy for that part and hope I can find right family to care for the kids

Profile Hacked.
I used Urbansitter and was finding jobs.
Recently, someone hacked my account and changed the email. I'm uneasy as I had direct deposit set up and have personal information on my profile. I'm unsure of how unsafe it is for someone to have access to my profile right now. Urbansitter does not have a phone number to call and they have NOT responded to my emails. This is the service you get for paying for a membership?

I’m new in here and even if I had some people who reach out to me asking if I’m interested to meet and then they don’t follow up, I believe is just matter of time and what I do really liked is the urbansitter is on top of the scams. I had some weird guy who contacted me and I didn’t reply bc the way he approached was very strange and urbansitter right away, took him away. To me is a peace of mind since just like the parents, we don’t what type of family with can bump into. Thank you so much to to that and reach out to me right away when I e mail you .

A problem solver for a single working parent!
I was worried about the response rate contacting support via email. Because the issue involved the lag time of paying our wonderful babysitter. I was feeling anxious and impatient. It took about 15 hours but how quickly it was resolved made me happy with the customer service. I love the ease of use of the Urbansitter app. I am a single working mom that travels for work and having a user friendly service like Urbansitter has relieved a lot of my stress. Thank you!

Urbansitter is Phenomenal!
I have had a phenomenal experience with Urbansitter. The customer service was exceptional and fast whenever I had questions. And I was able to land a really nice gig with a day camp over the summer and during other holiday breaks. I was paid quickly and easily and earned a lot of money working with great people. I am a sitter for urbansitter they use… I repeat as soon as I paid the new membership fees my profile was hidden everything is via technology there is no way that you can contact these peopleor
I am a sitter for urbansitter they use you like a dirty mop if they can't exploit you like me they hid my profile right after I paid a newly implemented "membership fee" for the sitters???? A week later My profile was Hidden even after passing all so called checks!!!!
I'm asking them why did they hide my profile no response after I sent my credentials or recent my credentials I get no respond there is no phone number for these people.UPDATE....THEY HAVE ME BACK IN, SO I will see how it goes and take down my review by Christmas 2019 if all goes well

This has been a very expensive mistake and I suspect a scam of some sort. I posted a job and paid membership fee up front and I have not been able to get a sitter at all. Either they do respond at first and then dont show up or I have no response at all. I want to cancel my membership and get a refund but its impossible to get a response from the support team. Terrible waste of money.

It’s just terrible
It’s just terrible. My profile is hidden for over 9 months. I sent the costumer service an e mail so many times to solve it. They only sent me an automatic e mail as a response. I told them it didn’t work and I really needed someone to help me and I gave them my number a few times but nobody called me back and they keep sending me automatic e mail. And I thought they didn’t help me because I didn’t pay for the profile and I did pay yesterday. I renewed my profile. Added more things about myself , changed my profile picture etc.
Guess what ?
My profile is hidden again :) It says contact to costumer service . Which costumer service ? And the worst thing is I paid $25 and got nothing back. I sent them an e mail again today but I know I will only get an automatic e mail back. It’s so sad the number of costumer service doesn’t work on google. There is no way to reach them out unless they reach you out which is impossible..!!

My husband and I hired a babysitter…
My husband and I hired a babysitter from Urbansitter to cover childcare for our two youngest children for one week. I had what seemed to be a normal interview with the sitter. In actuality, she was late the first day, and very late the second day. When I called her on the second day to find out where she was I mentioned that I left laundry on my bed. I had no intention of asking her to do laundry. Because her phone connection was bad, she assumed that i was asking her to do laundry. She started yelling and cussing at me and telling me that she would not do our laundry. I tried to explain, but her phone kept cutting out as she yelled at me. I became afraid that she was unstable, and should not watch my children. I called her back and told her not to come to babysit. This infuriated her, and she came to our house anyway. She violent screamed at my husband in front of our children. She tried to pick up my youngest, who was two. She told my husband she wouldn't leave until he paid her cash for the week. He wrote her a check for the day before and for that day even though she didn't work for us that day. We were traumatized by the event. Guess what? She is still on Urban Sitter. I filled out forms, called, emailed. They really never did anything. She has good reviews! Months later I am concerned that she has rage tendencies and may hurt someone. Urbansitter never followed up with any of my complaints. They never called me, they would reply to my email saying that someone would call, and no one ever did. I would put the name of the sitter here, but they have blocked that sitter from my view. She told them that we asked her to do laundry and that we lived in an inappropriate setting. I am a residential minister at a university, and I thoroughly explained that I live in an apartment building with a bunch of college students. Please don't use urban sitter. The reviews are not trustworthy. We are lucky that this particular babysitter didn't lose her temper at one of our children. She is dangerous and potentially violent, and Urbansitter was careless and irresponsible about follow up.

Great Opportunities
I'm kind of in shock seeing the super negative reviews. I've received thousands of hours of work through UrbanSitter the last 2.5 years. In the Bay Area the rates are good for nannies/sitters and families are wonderful. Warning to families: you get what you pay for. Minimum wage is $15/hr here and sitters generally make closer to $20 and sometimes $25 here. Use the site/app as intended and look for sitters recommended by your common groups, check reviews, look for a background check. It's very convenient for both sides. Sitters, it may take time to get a few reviews under your belt and get jobs/requests.

I have waited for a week for a response from UrbanSitter's customer support team via email (they only way to reach them). None of the new services being offered to sitters are of use to us. We are treated as commodities and are expected to pay as consumers. I use to recommend UrbanSitter to other child care professionals, now I will have to seek out an alternative option that values their independent contractors.

They say it’s totally free, hide your profile until you pay.
They will tell you it’s totally free, “make money for free” but then you’ll receive an email from the founder stating they have changed things and your profile will be hidden until you pay $25 a month. Total waste of time. Care.com is only $10 a month, you’re better off using that.

Our current promotional price of the membership fee has been priced as low as possible (about 1.5 hours of what sitters make babysitting) while allowing our team to invest in trust and safety features that enhance the experience for our members and set us apart from other sites.

There are not enough active sitters
There are not enough active sitters on the site for it to be useful. The background checks are not required for sitters. If you request one, all they send you an email asking for the cost of a background check. It is not included in the membership. It is a waste of money.

Up until this change, sitters on UrbanSitter became approved to start booking jobs after a profile and background review which included passing sitters through a series of offender registries and watchlists, publicly available digital national and county criminal records, and a manual profile review based on the information provided. Now, all active sitters on the platform will also need to complete and clear a background check before connecting with families! In order to start the process of your profile you must complete all these steps which is understandable; however one of them is your banking information. You're coerced into sharing your banking information in order to verify your identity. Then 2 weeks later they run a background check, seems backwards. A month later my application was denied with this reason: "The consumer reporting agency did not make the adverse decision, and is unable to explain the specific reason why the adverse action was taken." URBAN SITTERS does not review the file, they immediately deny your application. I work for the government and my background check has never been an issue. THIS WHOLE EXPERIENCE WAS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING AND DISAPPOINTING!!!! COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND ENERGY. GREAT CONCEPT, TERRIBLE ORGANIZATION.
