A fantastic course

A fantastic course for people of all experience levels. Thought provoking, challenging, creative, and satisfying.

Faculty extremely helpful and responsive.

I would recommend anyone doing this course to frequently ask questions to the group and to faculty if you’re ever unsure, they helped to clear up many things for me.

Would highly recommend this course for anyone interested in a UX career or learning more about UX.

Top Marks (printable study notes would round it out)

I’ve just completed the Professional Diploma in UX Design from the UX Design Institute, and I would give top marks to the entire team. The course content was clear, concise, and well structured, and the team consistently provided excellent support through webinars and one-to-one guidance throughout the programme.

One recommendation that would make the course even more complete would be the addition of printable study notes to support revision and offline learning.

Great stuff, lots of learning

The learning materials are well thought out and carefully crafted, incorporating all the latest trends - including the use of AI (which had only just emerged when I was taking the course). You are guided through the entire product process from start to finish. But the greatest discovery for me was the warm and welcoming support throughout the entire course - thoughtful, detailed answers to all my questions and clear, constructive feedback on exams. One of those rare cases where you see firsthand just how much it matters when a person isn't a bio-robot clocking in from 9 to 5, but is genuinely open and responsive. I came away with nothing but wonderful impressions of the experience - a huge thank you to the whole team, and to Kerry-Ann in particular!

Strengthening My UX Foundation with UX Design Institute

recently completed the UX Design Institute course, and it was a really valuable experience.

With 17 years in design, I’ve learned mostly through hands-on work, but this course helped me strengthen my foundation with a more structured and research-driven approach. The usability testing and research modules were especially insightful and added real depth to my understanding.

A well-designed programme that combines practical learning with solid UX fundamentals.

Excellent!

I appreciated the quality course material -that makes you love the domain- and the opportunity to implement it in real and practical projects which cover all the phases of the UX Design process. Also, the step by step figma tutorials were invaluable in learning the software. Lastly, the communication with the student advisors was fantastic and always immediate.

More than just a course—it’s a career launchpad.

I recently completed my UX Diploma with the UX Design Institute, and the experience exceeded my expectations. What sets this program apart isn't just the high-quality, structured content, but the continuous support provided throughout.

The weekly webinars were a game-changer for my projects, offering real-time clarity and expert insights that you just can't get from a textbook. It truly feels like a "gate pass" into the professional UX world rather than just another certification. If you are looking for a deep dive into UX with a safety net of experts, this is it.

A professional and flexible way to learn UX Design

I recently completed the Professional Diploma in UX Design and the UI Design Certificate with the UX Design Institute, and overall it was a very positive experience.

One of the main reasons I chose the UX Design Institute was that the diploma is university-accredited, which gave the program additional credibility compared to many other UX bootcamps.

The learning format suited me very well. The course is self-paced and primarily video-based, which I personally prefer over text-heavy courses. The videos are professionally produced and visually engaging, so the material never felt dry or difficult to follow.

Another strong aspect is the feedback system. You can submit your work and receive feedback multiple times, which helped me improve my projects significantly throughout the course. I also appreciated that there is a career guide available, which makes the transition into the job market feel more structured.

The support team was consistently excellent. Communication was always professional, friendly, and fast. They are also available through live chat, which makes it easy to ask questions during the day and removes many of the usual barriers between students and course staff.

The exam preparation was also very manageable. Each module includes practice questions that closely reflect the format of the final exam, which makes it easier to understand what to expect and prepare effectively.

One small downside of the self-paced structure is that because you are given a generous amount of time to complete the course, it can be easy to take longer than necessary if you are not disciplined with your schedule. However, this is more about personal time management than the course itself.

Overall, I feel that I learned a lot during the program, especially through the iterative feedback process. I’ve also seen many alumni from the UX Design Institute working in UX roles on LinkedIn, which is encouraging as I begin my own job search.

I can definitely recommend the UX Design Institute to anyone looking for a structured and professional UX education.

Great Company: personal & professional

Great course material and presentation, relevant hands-on projects, superb study support and services, great flexibility and communication... although the course is completely online, the support was very personal, professional and forthcoming. I always had a clear positive feeling with this company and learned a lot! I finished the course without any questions left - the modules covered everything I could think of at the moment. Happy to continue with you soon.

Strong Theory, But Lacking Practical Design Support

I enrolled in the Product Design course at the end of 2024 and overall had mixed feelings about the experience.

The course is well structured, and the theoretical content is clear and easy to understand. The Research and Analysis section is particularly strong, providing a solid foundation in user understanding and product thinking, and the UI theory is also well explained.

However, the practical design part needs significant improvement. There is no in-depth Figma training, which made creating high-fidelity designs very challenging. I had to rely heavily on YouTube and external resources to learn components, variants, and advanced workflows, which was frustrating after enrolling in a professional course. I experienced similar difficulties when building my portfolio, feeling quite lost and needing to figure many things out independently.

The 1:1 career session focused mainly on CV and ATS optimization but felt somewhat limited and lacking deeper, personalized guidance for entering the industry. Despite these challenges, I successfully completed both projects with high scores, though this required many extra hours of self-learning.

After finishing the course and beginning my job search, I realized there is still much more to learn to become a well-rounded Product Designer, especially in real-world problem solving and areas like B2B, SaaS, and AI. Many employers look for practical experience solving real problems, and two academic projects are often not enough.

Overall, the course provides a strong theoretical foundation in Product Design, particularly in research and UX thinking, but could significantly improve its practical design training, Figma mastery, portfolio support, and career preparation to better help students transition into the professional market. In the end, applying for jobs requires a strong portfolio with well-designed, high-quality projects, and this is something I felt the course did not fully help me achieve.

It's good, but not amazing

What i liked about UX design Institute, was that it was able to provide a University Approved and Accredited Certificate for the students. I am also very happy how the videos were structured, as well as how easy it was to follow. I liked the weekly recorded videos as well. I also felt that I have a good sense for UX fundamentals. That being said there are a few points I'm going to knock off.
1. The schedule for the online courses are limited to the time in Ireland, as someone who lives in the Pacific time zone, it's hard for me to schedule the online review as it always takes place while I'm working.
2. The lack of text content, meaning i have to take my own notes by replaying the video multiple times, there are no text media compare to let's say Uxcel where i could read several content through bite size paragraphs.
3. No senior designer or mentorships, therefore you still will design like a junior, it's going to help you understand the fundamentals, which is quite expensive. I'd probably rather spend my money on 1 to 1 meetings with a senior designer to understand how they think and design sophisticated projects.
4. Lack of emphasis on UI, and especially with the research analysis stage, it's very vague and doesn't really provide any examples to show how a junior designer should do their research.

Overall, I think the materials were well laid out, but I wouldn't spend this much to go over again, I'd say maybe if it were half of what I spend, then I think it's worth it.

Simply do it!

UXDI was honestly one of the most fun, engaging and professional experiences I've had. The institute lives up to all their promises from self-paced to real case scenarios, engaging and supportive staff and great career advice. I would recommend the Product Design Programme to anyone who is draw by the UX/UI disciplines and wants to joggle work and learning on the side. Thank you for creating such a wonderful experience and helping so many of us achieve our dreams <3

Reasonable course content seriously dragged down by terrible exam experience

TLDR: Reasonable course content seriously dragged down by terrible exam experience.

Completed the Professional Certificate in Content Design. The course materials are predominantly presented as videos, with some pages of written information. The materials are fine, though I found a lot of it was just confirming things I already knew rather than imparting new knowledge. The user testing information was the most detailed and useful section in a practical sense.

There is coursework scattered throughout the module. Most of the projects were extremely time consuming, and often quickly became repetitive in nature. Despite spending hours on each project, the feedback I received was minimal, consisting predominantly of "this is good" with no actual constructive advice given on how it could be better. It seemed like the markers assess on a pass/fail system, and once they've decided you've passed they have no real interest in providing feedback.

The exam is the main reason for the low score. Although the multiple choice exam itself was reasonable in terms of covering course content and assessing knowledge, the experience of sitting it was terrible. Firstly, the conditions you are sent are far stricter than any exam I have previously sat, including rules like "you must not look away from the computer". The list of rules was extremely intimidating, and instantly caused a lot of stress.

Furthermore, as a disabled candidate I felt unable to meet some of the conditions imposed. When looking into accommodation requests, the website stated that a doctor's letter will be required to get accommodations. In the UK these often cost money and time to acquire, meaning that asking for one could be considered discrimination as it puts a disabled person at a financial disadvantage. In the end, I was granted my accommodations without being asked for a letter, but simply putting that line there caused a lot of undue stress.

The exam requires a windows or apple computer with a working webcam and microphone. You also need to download specific software which requires access to your screen. This is incompatible with most work computers as this level of monitoring is protected against for security reasons. However, the details for the course when you book simply state "a windows or apple computer" - it is not until you reach the exam that there is any indication that a work computer will likely not work, that you need a webcam, speakers and microphone (a headset is NOT allowed), or that the exam conditions require you to be in a room alone which no one may enter. I did not have a personal computer that met the specifications, and was left scrambling at the end of my course upon discovering that my work one (that I had completed the entire course on) was unsuitable.

The suggestion I received was to "borrow someone's laptop", which is extremely presumptive and not something I generally would not feel comfortable asking. My partner has completed online courses with invigilated exams with other training companies and has always been presented with an option to go to a local generic testing centre. There's many of these in further and higher education facilities across the UK - why isn't this offered as an option?

The technical support for the exam was also unhelpful. I was asked to enter my details several times, was inexplicably told "work laptops are not allowed" for the exam (which wasn't mentioned in the massive list of rules), and ultimately got little to no help from them. I was also told at one point that I had to open the exam invitation in chrome initially and use that to trigger the guardian browser I had to download to launch. I couldn't just launch the browser myself - not everyone uses chrome.

Overall, the experience of trying to sit this exam so soured me that it has put me off the UX design institute. The stress of it was not worth the learning. The irony is that, having just sat a course that preached transparency and accessibility in online content, the entire exam experience was the exact opposite.

A practical, well-structured UX programme that delivers real value

I recently completed the Professional Diploma in UX Design with the UX Design Institute / UCD Professional Academy and found it to be a genuinely valuable and well-structured programme.

The course is highly practical, combining solid UX foundations with industry-relevant tools such as Figma and Miro. The curriculum is thoughtfully organised, with clear milestones and real-world projects that progressively challenge you while building confidence and critical thinking.

The tutors were knowledgeable and supportive, and their feedback (particularly from Faolan) was constructive, specific, and instrumental in strengthening my design approach and attention to detail.

Overall, this programme gave me not only technical skills, but also a clearer UX mindset and the confidence to take concrete next steps in my career. I would strongly recommend it to anyone serious about developing a solid UX foundation.

Would 100% recommend

I really enjoyed taking a course through the UX Design Institute! The flexible approach allowed me to complete the modules at my own pace, and whenever I had a question the support staff were always quick to provide a valuable response. The university accreditation and career support post-course really sold it for me, would definitely recommend.
