Can we give less than 1. No Customer Service. The worst service in human history.

Only giving one star because I have to. This place is a total scam. They charge all kinds of fees and then will tell you it’s non-refundable, even when they don’t provide you with a document. Total scam !!

Website information about ordering a birth certificate online from New York City is completely misleading. They emailed me after a month telling me they needed more information. I called and held for 27 minutes before being told that they couldn’t find my birth certificate. That’s interesting because I ordered one about 5-6 years ago before I had to use these clowns. The representative was completely unhelpful but I continued to press had and told her how confusing their website was about ordering a New York City certificate. The website takes you in circles and it does state to use them to get your certificate. The representative acknowledged that the website was difficult and she basically told me that they won’t give me a refund. I’m going to appeal that with the credit card company today.

Tried to order a Marriage Certificate - but wasn't warned beforehand that they need a document signed and dated in the presence of a Notary Public. Additionally, the Notary's stamp/seal must be legible.

That's more work than just going and getting the certificate myself.

Paid $21 for UPS next day air 4 days later still no delivery,one ordered through usps came days ago.dont waste your money on UPS or vital chek they said I would get a refund for shipping which was a lie!!!!

Negative stars with a "Do Not Use VitalChek" option. I need to get a certified copy of my birth certificate. I chose the VitalChek option, but no where in the online application do they provide the option to request a CERTIFIED copy. I found VitalChek's customer service phone number online, (of course they don't provide it in the application form), and held for a long time to ask re the certified copy option, but no one picked up. I didn't want to sit around all day waiting for someone to answer, (and from other bad reviews it sounds like they don't answer), so I emailed my question to VitalCheck's email. If I get a response, I will be floored. To find an answer to my question about certification, I called SF 311's equivalent and a live person who answered quickly told me my application form (which I will submit by postal mail as VitalChek is not an option) had to be notarized. No where in the VC application form did it say my form had to be notarized, and I don't understand how the mail-in application has to be notarized, but the emailed application does not. In any case, SF should do the online application for copy of birth certificate themselves, or find a third party provider better than VitalChek.

I would give a negative rating if I could. Twice I called them. No one ever answered, I was on hold for 47 minutes and 56 minutes respectively.
Emailed them multiple times.
I have no idea how or why this company exists.

A totally corrupted fraud of a company. Not to be trusted!!! They will rob you...you will get nothing!

Ordered a death certificate and payed $20 extra for 1 day shipping and here I am 5 days after them shipping my order and I still havnt recieved it. I contact customer service and get no reply. I think I just got scammed.

Terrible service! Do not answer any questions and make the process as difficult as possible. Stay away!

Money laundering. Never fails to get lost somewhere between vital check and the state. Either guarantee the service or offer refunds. I’m done losing $50 time and again being forced to use 3rd party services like this. Our government should not be outsourced!! I will drive the 500 miles at our current $1M/G fuel costs before trying this again.

this site is a load of shit I've been waiting 4+ days (2 business days) and they still haven't reviewed my documents. I haven't been able to find the customer service hours anywhere so I can't find the time to contact someone because they're never there. if you can avoid using vitalchek please do.

Terrible. The customer service wasn't at all helpful or good. They didn't help with anything and the fees were very high. Living on a fixed income it's hard to afford much, and they wanted me to jump through about 50 different hoops for one minor error, on THEIR part. You're better off using the actual office instead of this business.

They say about 14 days now it's going on over a month still can't renew my license got hired at tesla now im loosing my job because they communicated only after 4 emails I sent them and just said the city is running behind no time line nothing to calm my nerves. So basically would be easier to fly there and get it but no valid ID so can't fly or drive there

Vitalchek is 50% scam. The only way to know is ALWAYS call the town hall first. They list all towns (how they get away with that I'll never know), yet some towns work with them and some do not. I called Manchester,CT town hall for a copy of my birth certificate and they work with them. I wrongly assumed Stafford, CT where I needed my marriage license from also worked with them. I plugged in my info, paid the astronomical fee of $57.20, but realized I hadn't signed the form. I called Stafford. They only send thru snail mail. I immediately called vitalchek, since it had only been an hour and they were supposed to cancel the order. They did not. I called my American Express to flag it. It's quite madness that a company can be partially a scam, but we'll see if I ever get my birth certificate.

So, yes I standby everything I said. I did get my birth certificate in 2 days at that astronomical fee, but they ARE INDEED advertising towns that do not use their services and they collect fees & make it VERY difficult to get reimbursement.
Again, I can't stress enough, call town hall first before doing anything thru this company.

Awful service. Completely screwed up my search and reversed the names. Support was not only useless but also unfriendly and unable to help at all. DO NOT use this service.

I started my journey to get my vital records on April 2 2026. It is now May 19 2026 and I went to review my order again and discovered that it was canceled. This after them being cryptic about what they required from me and charging me a lot of money, $15 each time. I tried to call but of course got nowhere with that method. I have emailed them again and am waiting to see if I get a response. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. I don't recommend this company. To the management, do better. Train your people to be more clear and concise. Train your people to actually tell the customer what is required instead of them having to bog through everything to figure out exactly what is required. Train your people to review documents correctly. I sent everything that was asked of me and got nowhere.

They take your non-refundable $15.00 and then do nothing. I went back and forth with an automated email that kept asking for the same thing, and no actual human replies, so it can not understand what you are telling it. Round and round with no results, but they got a lot of my personal information. I ended up going to the city town hall to get the information I needed. I wish our state would stop using this scam company. For reference, I used the online platform.

I was double charged because Vital Check website does not work properly.

I ordered 2 copies of marriage certificate from Virginia Department of Health through VitalCheck (which was also identified as an expedited option on the Department of Health website). I started the application on VitalCheck's website using Firefox website, but needed to change the delivery address that was previously introduced to another address. The website on Firefox would not allow me to make any changes to the address or to start over. Since I could not do anything, I closed the page and then opened a new one, but the website had my request memorized and would not allow me to start over.

So, I started a new application on the Chrome browser, instead, provided all the correct information and placed the order. I got an email confirmation for this order about an hour later. About 20 minutes after that I get a request from VitalCheck that I need to upload my drivers' license for verification purposes, but this is associated with a different order (the one that I initiated on Firefox, and which was never placed because I could not change the address information). I did not notice that VitalCheck was requesting identification information on the order that was never completed assuming it was related to the order I placed later. In the end, VitalCheck placed two separate orders with two separate credit cards (I changed the credit card number when I started the second order). As mentioned above, one of these orders were not finalized and authorized by me (I did not even receive an order confirmation email from them for the order with the wrong address). I tried explaining this to the customer service agent, but she refused to take any responsibility for the faulty website and would not help at all. I will try to dispute the charge with the bank but am not sure what the result will be since the order was delivered (to the address I did not want it to go, but I still received the certificate copies). The other set of copies is out for delivery, so I may end up with 4 copies although I only requested 2. Having seen the other complaints here, I can definitely say that this company has zero accountability for any issues with their operations and would not listen or help their customers. Do not do any business with them!

I was sent the wrong Birth Certificate and they will not resolve the issue. Apparently they only take orders and send the orders out. I argued that their website says they check the orders, I was told they check the order I put in, not the actual order. I’m out $48. Timothy Sereda, who ever you are, I have your Birth Certificate!
