Poor Demonstrated Service at the local level, and even less satisfactory Customer Service at the National Level.
After over a decade of membership I'm throwing in the towel on my AAA Roadside Assistance membership. During the winter I requested a jump start, at my home, located adjacent to the metro area in MN. I was told to expect a 48 hour response window- this after paying $138.00 last year for 12 months. Why should I wish to pay that amount when service is not available when I call for road assistance?
I subsequently contacted AAA by phone to express my dissatisfaction with the lack of service, I was then thanked for my comment, and given the explanation that the wrecker companies were very busy.
This month, after receiving a renewal notice, I again contacted them by phone in hopes of being offered some sort of discount for my previous troubles. 3 calls to National, what a waste of time! I explained my intent to the initial service provider, who indicated she was unable to help, and was sent to my local club, (which indicated they were powerless to assist). I called national a second time, explained once again what I was trying to do, and that the local club was unable to help, at which time I was asked my city and state, then put on hold. After a period of time I disconnected, and made my 3rd call. The s.p. was very professional, and accommodated my frustration quite well before explaining that there was no one at AAA national who could help.
IMHO, the best service she was able to provide was to answer the question, "Do I want to renew my membership at $138.00 / year"? .... Um, No, thank you!
