They do not support linux contraty as advertised

I was using B2 as an off site backup. When I tried to do a restore I realized that they do not support Linux (they go out of their way for you do not being able to use it) and they provide a very poor HTTP implementation (not pausing -- try to download 1T+ with that)

Their customer support is a robot and for me when he offered to talk with a human I talked with another robot. Finally I manage for them to provide human help but I am still waiting for them to contact me.

AVOID THEM LIKE A PLAGE

I have been using Backblaze B2 buckets for around 4 months at the time of writing this. Their service is robust and the pricing is incredibly fair, they have just announced:

The announcement of All API transaction fees becoming free, coming soon is a superb offer, and when you compare the above benefits with other cloud bucket providers, it's absolutely the right company to choose.

That doesn't mean you should abuse API calls, you should always be striving for efficiency in your automated scripts, but this news give confidence that you won't get a surprise bill.

This would have been a four if for…

This would have been a four if for years I didn't have to deal with a preferences window on my PC that doesn't allow an expansion of the drives selection window. It's ridiculously narrow and you have to scroll by clicking the tiny scroll bar section on the right with you mouse selector. It's so bad, everytime I come across it I still can't quite believe it hasn't been fixed.

The plan sounds great, until you need your data

Backblaze's unlimited plan sounds great on paper, but it's a false sense of security. I lost 20TB of irreplaceable data when I needed to restore—gone, with no explanation or recovery possible from their side. They claimed "no evidence of backup" existed for huge portions of it, then shifted blame to me or my setup.

Their interface is confusing, outdated, and unreliable, making it nearly impossible to verify what actually got backed up or troubleshoot issues effectively. Customer support was unhelpful at best, dismissive at worst.

If you're considering Backblaze, treat it as a last-resort, secondary backup only—never your primary or sole offsite solution. The "unlimited" promise isn't worth the risk when real data loss happens and they can't (or won't) fix it. 3-2-1 rule exists for a reason: I was lucky to have another backup, but many won't be. Avoid relying on them for anything critical.

Routing my daily project backups to…

Routing my daily project backups to Backblaze B2 finally gave me an affordable, automated off-site archive that runs silently in the background without choking my studio's bandwidth while I'm pushing heavy final renders to clients.

The worst customer service ever

The worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. 1-star is too high. My hard disk crashed and I lost everything but since my email account had changed over the years I didn’t have access to the email account that they had on record. They said they needed to send a verification email to my old email but of course I couldn’t receive it because the domain for that email was gone. They refused to give me access to my backup files. Unbelievable!!!

Stupid, worthless customer service

Stupid, worthless customer service. I lost my 2FA code, which was totally my fault, but any normal company provides a reasonable path to resetting your 2FA, to regain access to your account. Not Backblaze! Despite providing them with my driver’s license and credit card statements proving that I was the account owner, they refused to restore access, citing “security concerns”. Beyond that, my email address and phone number matched the account info, so they could have easily used one of those as an alternative 2FA.

Now I’m locked out of the account FOREVER, so they literally forced me to switch to another backup provider. Idiots!

The hilarious part is, each of their canned email responses says, “If there’s anything else you need, we’re here to help”. I replied that they’re obviously not “here to help”, but the sarcasm seems to have been lost on the customer service robots, because they replied with another email stating that they’re “here to help” 😂😂😂

Peace of Mind

I am a customer of Backblaze since 2013. Knowing that my photographic files are stored somewhere safely, other then my external HD’s, gives me a piece of mind. During these many years of being a member I had always all questions I had being answered promptly and professionally by the staff. I also saw during these years a progressive improvement of expansion of capabilities which is always encouraging to see that they are keeping up with IT technology. Keep it up, guys!

Backblaze doesn't provide the service…

Backblaze doesn't provide the service they advertise. Also, they dropped Win 10 even before Microsoft did. (Microsoft is still providing patches for 1 year) Cancelling is a pain in the ass and I never want to deal with them again. Customer service was awful.

Best "set it and forget it"cloud backup

The best "set it and forget it" cloud backup out there. For the price, nothing else currently beats it, especially with 1-year file version history, unlimited storage, a very efficient continual backup. I've been using it for over 6 years, I used to have some issues with the macOS app, but it has gotten much better over time. It has saved me from small to disastrous situations so many times. This is probably the best insurance you can get for your data. Customer support is absolutely amazing, especially via chat. I just wish it would back up EVERYTHING, some folders are by default on the exclusion list, and there is no way of allowing Backblaze to back them up. Because of this, my audio plugins are never backed up for example, because they are in the Library folder... I would give it 5 stars if that was possible.

For the money, unbeatable.

For the money, this is a great deal - unlimited backup space, remote access and a decent interface to review your backups. I am a music producer and Backblaze just sits in the background uploading my files to it's servers without me ever noticing. It has rescued me from a tight spot where I have accidentally over-written an important backup drive - Backblaze had all the lost files safe and sound and sent me a hard drive by UPS with all my lost data on it - phew. Another time I had a failure of a drive and was able to download my data straight to my replacement drive - again, amazing. I can also access all my backed up files remotely, which has been super useful a few times when working in other studios and when I've forgotten to bring a file or want to retrieve something from "home". Okay, the interface could be slicker and it could backup faster, but for the money, I am really happy.

They removed essential feature without any warning!

I have been using backblaze for some time and in general It was okayish. App was using a lot of resources - quite a lot of CPU and gigabytes of RAM, upload speeds were not that fast but for unlimited storage it was OK. 3/5.
But then, one of the updates just removed sync from encrypted drives! No warning! No time to adjust! If they did this once who knows what they will take next. Storage? Bandwidth? I was lucky that they did that just before my renewal for next 2 years! I switched to monthly and I am testing other solutions.
I am no longer recommending this service.

Consistent, reliable, affordable

I can only speak to my experience, but I appreciate how reliable and un-pushy Backblaze is. At a time when it seems like every tech service is constantly trying to squeeze another dime out of you or shove AI into a ham sandwich, Backblaze just quietly does its job. You get an annual renewal notice before it happens, and I don't recall any major price hikes in the years I've been using them. I have used their service to recover files once and it worked well. I've had bad experiences with other tech services lately so I wanted to highlight one of the reliably positive companies I've dealt with.

I guess you get what you pay for... sort of.

You get what you pay for. Backblaze is fine as an emergency safety net, but you never really know if it will work the way you expect until it’s too late. The platform occasionally stops backing up, and when you open a support ticket, you might hear back in a few days. The last time I was on tour for three weeks, a 4 TB drive failed. I contacted Backblaze right away, and they replied a week later, which was one day after the drive image had already expired. They said, "Oh yeah, sorry"... breathtaking. Drive toast, data gone.
My most recent issue happened while I I was on the road; another drive stopped backing up. I reached out on 11/29, followed up again on 12/2, and received nothing. And there you have it, and today is 12/9/25...

Svært at komme ud af

Backblaze er egentlig en fin backup-løsning. Men når man ikke længere har brug for dem, viser de en anden side af sig selv. For det er utrolig svært at opsige sit abonnement! Jeg havde frygtet det. Men at det skulle være så svært, var alligevel en overraskelse. Det tog 45 minutters arbejde at sikre, at jeg vistnok havde oplagt abonnementet. Det er meget skuffende at opleve. Og skidt for forretningen, når kunderne herefter aldrig vil anbefale dem til andre.

BackBlaze is the BEST!!

I have been in search of an off-site cloud storage for my websites and after trying several, with one that remains solidly in my memory as 'horrendous,' I have found one that I have no reservations in recommending to others.

BackBlaze is easy, easy (yes, I typed that twice for emphasis) to navigate and equally as easy to create & implement the storage space for one's self.

I like to commend those who work hard to make life easier for their customers, since I have taken the time to do otherwise for those companies who seem to operate on the other end of the spectrum.

BackBlaze has earned a dedicated fan in the form of ME.

Stopped support for VeraCrypt mounted drives

Backblaze suddenly stopped backing up my VeraCrypt mounted drives, marking them as “unplugged” without any warning. They never communicated this change, and they aren’t offering any fix or workaround.

Anyone using VeraCrypt is now unprotected since last week. No notice, no transparency, and no solutions. It’s extremely disappointing, especially after being a loyal Backblaze user for many years. The software used to be great, but now they’re essentially pushing customers like me away unless we stop encrypting our drives.

Their only suggestion is to back up the unmounted encrypted container as a single file, which is completely impractical when you need to restore just one folder or file. It’s a huge downgrade and unrealistic for real use.

I’m now forced to look for alternatives, and I honestly feel let down by Backblaze. They aren’t helping, and they don’t seem to care about users who rely on encrypted mounted drives.

No longer backs up cloud files

Backblaze has changed their backup client so that it does not back up cloud files (whether or not there's a local copy on your computer). They have not properly communicated this change either, which is pretty dishonest. I suspect more than a few people will be caught out by this. I strongly recommend looking at other backup options.
