Ghosted and mis-led? otherwise great !!
In May/June I bought a Picanto advertised as a “hand-picked” Kia Assured Used car, with benefits including “a minimum of 12 months roadside assistance”.
At face-value the pre-sale process and delivery of the car on the day were great, with the same really friendly and never pushy young salesman mentioned by another reviewer.
As part of getting an acceptable price for the car, I was very careful to negotiate the benefit of a free first service for the car (which was 10 months old), as a timely service history is crucial for Kia’s 7-Year Warranty. The salesman and sales manager were both directly involved in discussing and agreeing this free service prior to delivery, which would save me around £200 (or so I thought!).
My final face-to-face request, as I drove the car away on 3rd June, was for details of the RAC cover. Three follow-up emails, a phone call and six weeks later I’m still later waiting, and of course driving around with no breakdown cover. I was even told that this benefit has ended, but logging a call with Kia quickly sorted that one out.
It’s a shame to be highlighting such a simple matter, but after five weeks of ‘radio silence’ what else is to be done, especially when the last words to me were that it was ‘going to be sorted’.
Another perhaps not-so-small point is that it turns out the car had already had its first service two weeks before I even viewed it (“to make it more appealing” apparently, as I found out afterwards, but bizarrely this wasn’t advertised or mentioned at the time!). So it was a pointless and worthless negotiating point and it seems I was mis-led about this?
Some might see these as minor I know, but attention to small details has detracted from what could have been a faultless first experience.
