1 Star — Bestop Took My $700, Then Told Me the Product Wasn't Their Problem
I purchased a LIFTnGO directly from Bestop's website (Order #SO6613322) for approximately $700 including shipping. It arrived July 29 with a warped plastic LG-Spacer that made it impossible to assemble.
I immediately called Bestop and spoke with Austin. I was surprised to learn Bestop wasn't the manufacturer, which was not evident to me when purchasing from their website. He told me I needed to work with LIFTnGO and gave me a phone number. It was wrong.
On July 31, I called Bestop again. Sofie gave me another LIFTnGO number. That was also wrong. I called Austin again, and he said he would ask LIFTnGO to contact me. He also told me Bestop doesn't handle repairs, warranties or returns for the product—it all goes through LIFTnGO. Nobody contacted me.
On August 4, I left Austin a message asking him to call me back. He never did.
On August 5, I spoke with Reana, who described Bestop as being "like Amazon." I found that comparison ridiculous. When I have a problem with a product purchased through Amazon, Amazon handles the return or replacement rather than sending me off to chase an unresponsive manufacturer.
I eventually reached LIFTnGO myself and was promised a replacement spacer (Order #21-33087). It never arrived.
As of September 9—six weeks after receiving the defective product—I have no replacement part and no refund.
My issue with Bestop is simple: I purchased the product from Bestop, Bestop took my money, and when the product arrived defective, Bestop repeatedly told me resolving it wasn't their responsibility.
Based on this experience, I would not purchase from Bestop again.
