BMO stole my Carpenters Union…
BMO stole my Carpenters Union Retirement check and put it on hold for 10 days. I need my seizure medicine and they refuse to put my money in my account until the 17th. I deposited my Retirement check on the 8th of this month. They are being REDICULOUS. I NEED MY CHECK
I paid off my loan
I paid off my loan. I was told that the payment would reflect with it updated and mailed. I called today and they said they were "restarting my loan" and were not at liberty to discuss those details in their department. I can't reach any live representatives in any other department. I've had this since 2019. Strangest thing I've ever experienced. Having to buy a lawyer for lemon law.
I don't think BMO even LIKES having customers.
BMO has been so difficult to work with, I’m not even sure they *like* having customers.
My grandpa has been a BMO customer for decades; he needs help with his accounts these days, and I honestly cannot believe that BMO has treated us like this.
Three months ago, I needed to set up a guardianship bank account for my granddad’s bank accounts. Guardianship is more unusual than having POA (power of attorney), but not unheard of. I can’t just be added to grandpa’s checking & savings accounts; a new guardianship account needs to be set up. Ok, no problem.
Here’s what it took to set up that account:
- BMO’s legal department took three business days to tell me I didn’t have the right paperwork. Ok, no problem.
- After I submitted the correct paperwork, it took them another three days to review it.
- No one even tried calling me; just like the first time, I called BMO after 3 business days to see if their 24-48 hour process was done.
- I had to make an appointment to open the new account; no one had time to help me for another two business days.
- Despite having an appointment & showing up on time, I waited 30 minutes.
- It took 4.5 hours to set up the account. Between that & drive time, I missed a full day of work.
- I specifically asked what paperwork I’d need to set up the account. BMO had all my paperwork for over a week, but no one could be bothered to tell me about a vital piece of paperwork they required. I had to go home & come back with that before they could finish.
After the account was set up, it didn’t even work! The only way to access my granddad’s funds is to write a check:
- BMO does not provide free checks. Free checks aren’t a common feature, but there’s no other way to access his money.
- BMO’s banker lied and said she ordered a debit card.
- After three weeks, I had no debit card; when I called customer service, BMO said they do not allow a debit card for this type of account; no debit card means no ATM use.
- BMO does not allow Zelle, online billpay, or mobile check deposit for this type of account.
- BMO Mortgage holds my grandpa’s mortgage. I signed paperwork *twice* to autopay grandpa’s mortgage from the new account. The autopay didn’t happen, and BMO even charged a $50 “late fee”!
- I disputed the mortgage late fee, and have heard nothing back from BMO.
Opened a 2nd checking account:
- I tried setting up a normal checking account, in my name, to try to get around the above usage issues & stay a BMO customer.
- Despite understanding the problems with the first BMO account, grandpa’s attorney says that grandpa’s name *must* be on the account holding his money. Ok, fair.
- I asked BMO to add grandpa’s name to the account- a last ditch, desperate effort to stay a BMO customer. The banker told me that the only thing they could do was… change this account to a guardianship account. With ALL the same issues above.
So what should I do after all this hassle? By hassle, I mean:
- 12-14 hours of my time sucked away- which doesn’t include drive time;
- BMO bankers’ lies, misrepresentations, and different workers telling me different info & requirements;
- BMO bankers’ refusal to be helpful and try to solve problems, but often telling me to call other departments and talk to other workers;
- BMO workers’ condescension & poor attitudes;
- And most of all, that their accounts don’t work.
Well, naturally I withdrew all of grandpa’s money and walked into Bank of America 2 weeks ago. 2.5 hours after walking in, I had a guardianship account. I was not a BoA customer before that day.
The customer service differences between BMO, and BoA & my own bank are STARK. If, like my bank, BMO had just politely said “We don’t specialize in guardianship accounts, you might have better luck elsewhere”, then no harm, no foul! I’d still have a good opinion of BMO.
But no… as my furious husband said this week- when we left BMO after I tried & failed to get grandpa’s latest mortgage statement- “If I treated a customer the way you were just treated, my boss would FIRE ME- and he’s known & respected my work for over fifteen years.”
Bank stealing customer's money
Worst, most dishonest bank ever. They supposedly refunded an overpayment on my credit card which I never received. When I called about the money BMO absconded with, which was clearly recorded on-line, they claimed no transaction was done on that day. I call that stealing, not incompetence. Customer beware, BMO thinks nothing of withdrawing money from your account and conveniently losing it.
Have been banking with bmo many years …
Have been banking with bmo many years as well as family members that i was legal guardian so i was on their accounts also . I am a 57 year old male that has a disability and has been denied 7 times. Anyway bmo decided to close my account because i cant afford to let child support take my savings again they wiped every penny out even though i currently pay every month for my deseased daughter. People when they csll and ask to talk about your account dont do it they already decided to close your account when they call . Ii only kerp bare min so i can pay my insurance and other bills but bmo wants you to keep everything in there i figure now with them closing my account im sure my credit score will go down snd my bills thst only allow a bank account will be in jeopardy of not getting paid Bmo has ruined my life …. Find anywhere else to bank people please..
finally they give no answers , no one to talk to beside the service center saying its finsl they made their decision , who made their decision ? I ask is this fair … its just the foreign bank taking advantage of the little people ……unbelievable…..
Worst bank ever
Boat a bought from a dealer and it was financed through BMO. Paid the boat off and got the around trying to get my title. First they said they'd mail it in 10 days. 20 days go by and still no title. Call back and they now said I needed to go to the Ohio BMV and they could print me a copy. I go to the BMV and they tell me they cannot do that. Call BMO again and they now say they gave me wrong information and they can email the title to me. Still waiting for it. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS TERRIBLE BANK!!!!!
The WORST bank
The WORST bank! Nobody knows what’s going on. Everybody has a different answer/solution to your problem. They don’t put customers first. Customer retention is NOT a priority with this bank. Most importantly, they violate Regulation E! Don’t bank here it’s a waste of time
BMO Harris Bank Customer Sevice
I rarely write reviews, but my experience with BMO Harris Bank has been consistently frustrating. I signed up for online banking about a year ago specifically because I’m not able to visit a branch easily. However, if I don’t log in for a short period, my access keeps getting revoked. Every time I try to regain access, it turns into a long, repetitive process with customer service. At one time, one representative reinstated my id, I logged in and in 5 mins I got logged out again automatically and when I re-attempted to login in, I could not. I called their customer service again and despite providing my account number, business account name and SSN , and all requested information, I’m repeatedly told they “can’t verify” me. I then get transferred between multiple representatives, asked the same questions over and over, and ultimately told to visit a branch in person—which defeats the entire purpose of having digital banking. This has wasted a significant amount of my time and made basic account access unnecessarily difficult. Reliable online banking should be accessible and efficient, not a constant hurdle.
Based on my experience, I would strongly caution others before relying on BMO Harris for digital banking.
This bank violates Federal regulation…
This bank violates Federal regulation CC. Ive had an account with them for two weeks and there will not be a third. Ive done two check deposits and received my money a week later, no funds whatsoever did I get while waiting for my deposit. I also connected another bank card to this account and tried to transfer my money from one card to the next, that also took 5 days for that to happen. So im done with BMO Bank.
Security Measures Have Gone Over the Top
They've been great for several years, up until the last few months. Their fraud protection systems must be 100% AI driven, because they spontaneously decide whether or not it was YOU making a purchase from Amazon or the PS store, or if it was a suspicious entity. Then they disable your card without warning, at which point you gotta call and wait for an hour to get ahold of some off-shore employee, who explains to you that, "Yes, our systems found a purchase from a suspicious website", even though it's the SAME DAMN BUSINESSES that you make purchases from on a regular basis. I even called in to have them "allow" a purchase from Amazon, only to find two hours later that it wasn't "allowed", and had my card suspended ENTIRELY. And they gave NO notification; didn't even see a message on the mobile app.
Seriously, people: thanks for the "thought" (not how sure how much of that is going on, since you're probably relying on AI for this crap performance), but if I CAN'T GET FOOD because of the overzealous practice of your security measures, then why am I still banking with you?
I'm ready to move on from this place if they don't correct it soon.
The customer line is the worst I have…
The customer line is the worst I have ever had. 4 times today I tried to set up my debit card so I could just call and check my balance. No american speaking people. And they want to argue about what the branch said or did. Customer service does not have the same info your local branch does. I wont be staying with this bank very long. It's ridiculous Customer service.
I hadn't banked online since before…
I hadn't banked online since before Covid, because I depended on public-access wi-fi and only have a landline, so I couldn't use phone verification. Finally learned how to get around that, then someone sent me a Zelle payment. To use Zelle from BMO, you have to go through "pay and transfer" which BMO doesn't let me use because I don't have a MOBILE number in my profile, even though Zelle will happily accept an email alone. Customer service can't do anything. Can't figure out how to take it to a higher level. Can't even leave feedback, because their "feedback" button isn't even a link (dead or alive).
My car loan was due to be paid off
My car loan was due to be paid off. I owed less than what my monthly payment is. They were just going to keep withdrawing money if we didn't stop it. You had to call india and jump thru 10 hoops to get them to stop with drawing from my account. They don't provide a way to provide feedback
Purchased a new boat from bass pro…..
Purchased a new boat from bass pro - one of the biggest mistakes in my life….. BMO is the company that I have the loan with for the boat. They are using predatory and shady practices and their loans are a scam. $72000 boat will cost me almost $200000 after 20 years of payment and to make things worse: you cannot request a payment breakdown on their app or website; they collect interest first and in almost 2 years of payment my loan went down by measly $1000
There needs to be a class action lawsuit against this company and they are really shouldn’t be in business.
Do not trust this company at all
I purchased a vehicle from a dealership and the loan ended up going through BMO bank. When I traded this vehicle in for a new one the new dealership contacted BMO for the payoff amount. The dealership had tracking on the check and the check arrived 5 days prior to my payment due date. I canceled my auto pay because I didn't want to pay my payment and that would throw off the payoff amount that was communicated between the bank and the dealership. When I called BMO they told me it could take up to 7 days to process the check even though it was in their possession. I told them that my payment was due in 5 days and I didn't want to risk any possible credit hit by them not processing the check. They went back and forth between departments and finally confirmed that they would handle it. Of course they did not and not only did they not process it in time they miscommunicated the payoff amount to the dealership so the check was $107 short. Now I have a ding on my credit and I had to go back to the dealership to get the additional $107. I will never ever have an auto loan through these guys again and I will make sure I tell everybody that I possibly can to avoid them at all costs.
I will give you 0 if possible
I will give you 0 if possible. We were hit by storms and experienced issues with the internet and electricity. I was unable to submit my payment on 4/1. I will do it on 4/2 after work.
The reason why 0 starts, at 4/2 @ 7 am they are calling me to collect the payment, on my way to work ,at 7 am,on 4/2, payment was due on 4 /1.
If the payment is processed it takes 3 business days to clear, but if it takes less than 12 hours they are calling you. This is harassment. If we need something we need to wait a few business days to be resolved, but on the other hand they can't way 24 hours. It is not that we cannot pay, we know that, we have a contract, but harassing people for a few hours being late, this is on another level.
If possible avoid them. No support, they don't understand or care about the people.
Pat, teller, BMO Hinsdale discriminates
Pat, a teller at the Hinsdale, IL BMO branch is discriminatory towards a different demographic. He also harasses and retaliates against the female demographic.
Worst customer service ever
Worst customer service ever. 25 year customer closing all accounts due to the poor customer service
I made a payment on 3/5/26 with my…
I made a payment on 3/5/26 with my checking account, as usual. The payment was due on 3/18/26. Typically, the payment posts within 3 business days because of the weekend. The payment never posted. I called to check why it hasn't posted. After being transferred to someone, I could barely understand that I was insulted by this person. She said my payment was late without checking the due date. I don't pay bills late. I gave her my email, and she said she sent the payment confirmation, which I never received because she entered my information incorrectly. I found this out later. When you work hard to make sure you pay your bills on time, it is an insult to tell me I am late without that confirmation. Never told me why my payment didn't post.
Their bank systems have went down…
Their bank systems have went down multiple times in the year I've tried them. This locked me out, and I had to go through 3 reps to get back on my account for 30 minutes on hold.
