Sadly my experience at bridesmaid by JB was not at all what we hoped for…
Firstly, I absolutely hate writing bad reviews. However I feel like the business really didn’t live up to the instagram perfection shown and has caused so much worry on the lead up to my wedding.
We arrived to our appointment really excited, there wasn’t much excitement by the staff when we walked in. The girls were all sat down and made to share with the group their dress size, which made some of my girls feel really uncomfortable as this was the first time some of them have met. Information like dress size, colours and dresses they like could have been requested up front so this was all prepared, and we could have enjoyed the trying on part more, which felt a little rushed.
One of my bridesmaids was on a weight loss journey. She told the seamstress not to take any of her measurements, just height, as she would be ordering a size M but this was not listened to. When going to place the order, it was ordered as per her measurements and not what we asked for. I was challenged about this when I asked for the dress to be made in a M. Had I have not challenges this we would have received a dress FAR too big! This dress in a medium ended up being massive anyway.
We placed the order and were assured they would be delivered in 12 weeks. On the 12 week deadline, I was informed there was a significant delay on mine (and it appears everyone’s orders) Meaning they would be delivered only 3 weeks before my wedding. This was not at all ideal given my bridesmaids are not local to me and I was worried at least one would need altering. We had all made personal plans around this and 2 of my bridesmaids were away until just over a week before my wedding, which left no time to try them on. This was just a huge amount of stress that was not needed. I was offered a 15% refund eventually, and Toni offered to ship the dresses to my bridesmaids directly which was much appreciated. However this just doesn’t take away the let down of the overall experience. I was offered to cancel my dresses but this wasn’t an option only 6 weeks before my wedding when my entire colour scheme was matched to them.
I’m really disappointed that I wasn’t told prior to my dresses due to be delivered, that bridesmaid by JB were delayed with all orders and had taken on too much. I feel like this could have been dealt with sooner, as they would have known within the first few weeks they were behind on orders.
Finally, I was promised my dresses would be shipped next day delivery latest 11th Aug. I received shipping confirmation on 11th, however they weren’t shipped at all, and only a shipping label was created. The staff told me the dresses had left them and were on their way when I questioned why the tracking hadn’t updated, but this was a lie - they hadn’t shipped them at all. At this point, the email correspondence stopped. The following day, the day I was suppose to receive them, the tracking updated stating no-one was available at bridesmaid by JB when Royal Mail tried to collect. They were then posted to the parcel shop later that evening. Sadly 2 of the dresses arrived too late for my bridesmaids to try so have had to frantically sort alterations out for one on her return, a week before we leave for the wedding.
I have given 2 stars because some of the dresses are absolutely beautiful! However 2 of the dresses were so tight these 2 struggled to eat and sit down in them... they both ordered the standard size S as what they tried on in store, however the dresses fit nothing like this. These 2 bridesmaids didn't gain an inch either.
Would I recommend bridesmaid by JB - no. If the cost was less - maybe. I don’t feel like the experience lived up to the hype at all and the premium price point of over £150 a dress does not reflect the experience we had. The store expereince was so so disappointing. The only positive is that half of the dresses are perfect. Whilst I do appreciate everything Toni did to try get them to me sooner, I feel like further issues during shipping, ruined this experience further.
