Poor attention to detail - spelling mistakes in documents.

My wife and I decided on the advice of MM Wealth to consult Buckles for our end of life decisions, on the grounds that we would have access to a solicitor nearer at hand that our previous one. The personal one-on-one element seemed to us critical.

We were delighted by our initial contact with Charlotte Pollard who was everything we had hoped for. With her we drafted our Wills and LPAs and went away very content.

Our next contact was also with her but this time she seemed distracted and hardly aware of who we were. It was unsettling.

Our next contact was to have been with her but we were were shunted off to someone in the north of England on a telephone and email contact and told that Charlotte had moved on. Aleksandra Cerula was very good at her job and we had good dealings with her, but for elderly (old) people like us emails are not a comfortable means of making major decisions and was certainly not what we signed up when we decided to come to Buckles. We felt that the whole subject of LPAs had not been properly explained to us - which especially tricky when you have two families united after divorce.

Our next contact was to come in to the office and sign documents. On this occasion there were staff shortages and we were left in the hands of an intern. She was obviously highly intelligent, but in no way familiar with the difficulties experienced by old people confronted with lots of legal explanations. She was helped part of the time by a solicitor whose name we never learnt who was commuting between us and another client. She spoke very quickly using legal jargon that we could not keep up with. We went away bruised and battered and not at all sure of what we had signed.

In the event when we received copies of the LPAs three of the four were clearly not adequate to our needs. I have revised them and sent them back to Aleksandra to be redrafted and re-registered. No doubt this will be at unanticipated extra cost. It has caused my family a great deal of soul searching and discomfort.

None of this would have happened if there had been continuity of solicitor, which is what we were looking for in the first place - someone with the personal touch.

We accept that some of this very bad outcome would inevitably be result of our inattention to detail produced by our great age and declining powers. But care for detail is what I have always expected of the legal profession. We feel we have been treated badly. It is not the fault of any of the individual involved. It is the result of a company which too large to maintain an adequate personal touch for its clients.

Anna provided swift and concise advice, expressing it in an easily accessible format for us to fully understand. The subsequent probate service she provided was efficiently delivered. We found Anna very approachable and keen to help.

I contacted Buckles Law to update my UK Will as I currently live in Thailand. The process was relatively straightforward and the paralegal was very helpful and informed.
Two minor issues I suggest be considered when managing UK matters from overseas: i) VAT may not be applicable. Buckles kindly notified me of this. ii) Careful choice of courier/postage since Royal Mail is not always tracked once in Thailand. DHL whilst more expensive, provided tracking updates to the point of delivery.

Very professional and at a very competitive price

We used Buckles (Peterborough) to renew our wills. We found them really helpful and they explained things in simple, understandable terms. We had a number of issues that meant things weren't straight forwards, but they gave us several options, detailing the associated pros and cons for each. We felt comfortable asking for clarity and what seemed like the silly questions, and we're more than happy with the outcome.

We used Buckles to deal with the probate on my Dads estate. They were very professional and helpful and we had the grant of probate in about 6 weeks. Excellect service, We would use again.

Buckles Law has supported me as a Personal Representative for the past two years when Solicitors named as Executors for a family member who had died, were caught up in a huge fraud. Buckles Law agreed to take on not only a very complicated situation, things needing valuation before Probate, but a very complicated Will where some items had to go to auction and others dispersed to family overseas. Getting information to and from Banks in some countries can be time consuming. I was given clear information about the responsibilities I was taking on; was treated in a friendly and respectful way at all times and kept regularly informed. Leasehold Extension

Great service from May Tee at Buckles. May engaged well and was extremely responsive to queries from the other side and provided clear & concise guidance as required to enable matters arising to be closed off quickly. May provided excellent support between April-Sept 2025.

Instructed Buckles to sort out the inheritance of an overseas property. We're now approaching the 7th year and it is still not done. Make of that what you will!

Both myself and other members of my family have used Buckles for many years now, in no particular order, wills, probate, deed of variance, power of attorney and both the buying and selling of property. This is a proper company of Solicitors etc and not some “ambulance chasing” type here today and gone tomorrow. All our dealings with them have been done in a proper ethical and professional manner, they delivered what they say and I have no hesitation in recommending them if you want a proper job done.

Cold call you even though you refused to ask for the call. Then charge you for them calling you 4 times a day.
Bad practise take signatures from very ill people in hospital 3 days before they pass. when asked on standards etc told we can't tell you.

Don't use them for probate or will related, they take advantage of the situation.
2yrs still no closer to probate.
Billed me for them calling a wrong number, billed me for them writing to wrong address, billed me twice for a clerical error on their part.
Still no probate sorted.
Take advantage of you grieving for lost ones.
Save your money and find a better solicitor.

Very disappointing. Fast, written advice returned the next day, although there was no urgency. Mis-read hard facts, ignored some of my points, didn't ask any questions. No feeling of working for me. Within 5 days I was beaten up and chucked out with the garbage. Given exactly the same treatment as the opposition person gives. Thanks for nothing. The least I expected was for documents to be read correctly.

Extremely poor service. We sought advice from them as the said the were experts in cross boarder matters. It quickly became clear that they were not. We sought advice on the question of Brussels 4 and not once were they prepared to address the question. The only time it was mentioned was to say they couldn't address it without a fee. We paid the fee to find out they had no idea wanted to ask our french notaires for advice. We asked for a refund which was refused. Now we have to proceed to ombudsman and failing that small claims court. This is a pint of principles and I refuse to back down until I get a full refund. Avoid this firm.

Worst experience imaginable with Buckles , after my father passing they are sending debt collection threats to my family, despite never even being instructed by us
