Terrible customer service and a very untrustworthy experience with Camperman.

When we returned the vehicle in Sydney, it was handled by a third-party depot on Camperman’s behalf. This was never clearly explained to us at the time of booking or collection, which felt unclear and unprofessional.

We were told everything was fine, fuel level correct, no damage, and I signed the handover accordingly.

Two weeks later, we received our deposit back, but $105 had been deducted. When we queried this, we were told it was due to the fuel not being returned correctly, which is simply not true.

We refuelled at the petrol station right next to the drop-off point and provided a receipt as proof. Despite this, they claimed they only accept a photo of the fuel gauge as evidence, which was never clearly communicated.

I asked them to contact the depot where we returned the vehicle to verify the condition and fuel level at the time, but they refused to investigate further.

Customer service throughout this process has been very poor. In particular, I found the manager (Javien) to be rude and unhelpful in his responses, with no willingness to properly resolve the issue.

What’s most frustrating is the way the situation is handled, it feels as though customers are placed in a position where they are made to doubt themselves, even when providing clear evidence. This is poor business practice and creates a very unfair experience.

I’ve now reported this to the relevant consumer protection authority.

Overall, a very poor experience. If you do rent from them, make sure you thoroughly check the vehicle, ensure it’s properly cleaned, and take detailed photos of everything — as based on my experience, you may be unfairly charged after the fact.

On m’a donné un camping car avec des fuites à l’intérieur, la porte principale impossible à ouvrir, j’ai dû m’arrêter le faire réparer, malheureusement la réparation fait à la va vite n’a pas tenu.
Le camping car était dans un très mauvais état et sale.
Aucun geste commercial pour toute la gêne occasionnée!
De plus j’avais réservé 8 mois à l’avance, quand j’ai regardé les prix 1 mois avant, je me rend compte que j’ai surpayé ma réservation, pour le meme camping car au même date une différence de prix de 1000$, la non plus aucun geste commercial.
Lorsque j’ai recuperer le camping car, un autre français qui avait recuperer le siens la veille le ramener car il avait aussi des problèmes, pas de lumière a l’intérieur…
Aucune considération pour les clients.

We rented a campervan from Camperman (13 Dec 2025 – 2 Jan 2026). Our experience was defined by poor maintenance and an absolute lack of effective customer support.

**From day one:**

* The hand pump for the sink was faulty → sink unusable for the entire 20-day rental.

**During the trip (rainy season in Queensland – well known to both customer and company):**

* Water leaks from rear windows
* Water leaks from side windows
* Leak through sliding door seal
* Leak through roof
* Drain holes fully clogged
* Rubber seals displaced

Result: 11 out of 20 nights with water entering the vehicle and repeatedly soaking our bedding. This meant sleepless nights and early mornings drying mattresses, sheets and belongings.

**Company response during rental:**

* No replacement vehicle offered.
* No proper repair arranged.
* We were instructed to:

* Clean drainage holes,
* Adjust window seals,
* Buy Gorilla tape to patch leaks,
* Purchase engine oil after the oil warning light appeared.
* We had to keep receipts for reimbursement.
* We had to repeatedly follow up for updates.
* Communication was reactive, not proactive.
* No concrete solution was ever provided before the end of the rental.

In short, we carried out maintenance that should have been completed before handover.

**After return and many many emails:**

* Initial “offer”: AUD 31.44 (exact reimbursement for oil and tape), conditional on signing a form including an NDA!!!
* After we objected, a $300 “goodwill” offer was made — not proactively, but only after we challenged their response.
* The reimbursement amount was only added on top after we specifically asked.
* Final offer: AUD 331.44.
* We declined the $300 compensation as not fair given that more than half the nights were affected and the sink never worked at all.

We did not expect luxury. We expected a vehicle fit for use in rainy season conditions and basic systems functioning properly.

Based on the vehicle condition and the level of support provided, we would strongly advise others to think carefully before booking.

It is simply not worth risking your holiday.

From Picking up the camper to drop off the process was very simple, the camper ran perfectly and had all the equipment we needed for a good trip :)

We were a bit hesitant to book at first due to some other bad reviews but for us both pickup and drop-off went super smooth. Van was as expected and in the end everything was good!

The camper was as described and did the job well for our trip. Pick-up and drop-off were straightforward, and everything worked fine. The staff was very friendly and helpful, which made the whole process easy and pleasant. Overall a solid experience.

The campervan is a bit old but the service is great, it was super easy to contact them. Pick up and drop off were also really easy.

Camper was very reliable and clean thank you.

I think it’s important to notify other renters about a waiver document I felt very uncomfortable to sign it was given to me at the very last moment and we had a long two week journey planned with no back up bookings available during a busy period.

This stated that we would be liable for $14,000 replacement of the fibreglass roof if damaged. This isn’t clearly stated on the terms it’s only a brief statement saying “overhead damage not included”

I was told that if a tree was to fall on our roof at no fault of our own I’d be liable for the full $14,000.

I think when you say “$500 excess” there should be a clear statement about any other hidden costs especially $14,000.

We were happy with the van and everything was great but I just wanted other campers to know the risks.

They are fast and effective. They have a nice staff and good approach on check in and check out that makes everything simple and straightforward to move on with the relocation asap. The vehicle was in perfect state and relocation was very fun. Only negative point that I can make was that during pick up we were warned that: "it is relocation and therefore it is not 100% clean campervan". We did not notice anything not clean or dirty, only the cubicle or "toilet room" had a very strong smell, cant say if it is excess of chemicals or lack of them, the rest was good.

We had a very good experience with Camperman . Everything worked perfectly and the camper was reliable throughout the trip. The equipment was simple but well thought out and easy to use, exactly what we needed. Overall, a smooth and stress-free experience. I would happily recommend them.

Did a relocation for Camperman. The van itself was in excellent condition and everything worked well, comfortable and the van drove very well.
It was a smooth process to book and the communication was good. We asked three days in advance to pick up the van at 10am. However, it still wasn’t ready when we arrived and we weren’t able to hit the road till 11:30am.
Overall a very fun experience and would go again with Camperman.

Campervan was clean and very easy to drive. No issues whatsoever in terms of driving experience! Fab cheap way to get around and see the east coast! Only downside is that it gets very hot in the evenings when trying to sleep with no fan

We had an amazing time with this van during our trip through Australia. It was perfect for two people and had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxed road trip.

The van was easy to drive, well equipped, and very comfortable. From the very first day, we felt at home and could fully enjoy every destination and experience. Thanks to this van, we were able to create some of the most beautiful memories and share unforgettable moments together.

It was the perfect companion for our journey, and we would absolutely choose this van again. Highly recommended! 🚐🌅✨

The experience with Camperman was great, clear communication, a detailed handover when we got the van, friendly staff. A fun way to see Australia!

Very easy to pick up/drop off. Had the best time with our van :)

Van was in good and clean condition, pickup in brisbane was through an agent which closed earlier than we were told (on christmas eve) but this didn't cause an issue thankfully. We sent paperwork in advance so that all drivers would be covered under insurance, as some were arriving after the van pick up time. The agent didn't seem to be aware of this and told us they wouldn't be covered until the next business day after we had sent new signed paperwork. Thankfully this wasn't too much of an issue. Good to be aware that the gas cannister hasn't necessarily been filled up unless you pay extra. Drop off was easy and smooth.

Staff were super friendly and explained all the features really well! My partner and I had a great trip :)
