I am appalled at the lack of…
I am appalled at the lack of encouragement and honesty. Only one member of staff let me know my Dad fell over, that member of staff i never saw again. I think she go the sack for telling me to be honest.
They live my Dad like a Zombie in his room, they leave him without drinks and do not want the hastle from him, he has Alzhimers they should expect aggressive behiaviour.
He also has another bruise on him, i am disgusted do not use FERNDOWN MANOR.
Previous employee
I work for care uk for nearly 5 years and thoroughly enjoyed it untill the new management made an entrance. Since they have been there I feel there is a lack of communication between management and staff and when they do speak to them they speak down to them.
The management do not have time to speak to staff or relatives as the door is always closed when you do approach them they are rude.
I am glad I have left and the way they treated me is unacceptable and truely discusting.
I will not recommended anyone to work or live there.
Worst company I’ve ever worked for
Worst company I’ve ever worked for.

Residents and staff let down by home management and head office
Our relative spent over a year at Britten Court care home and it was not good. It all looks lovely and welcoming when you look at it but please do not be fooled! After only two weeks of being there we noticed problems. Constant lack of staff meant our relative, who was unable to get up on her own, was on numerous times missing breakfast and left stuck in bed until noon. Our relative told us that they were filling her food chart in wrong (and with her having dementia we were unsure if this was true) until one day I actually witnessed this myself so please do listen to your loved ones. There were some very lovely dedicated carers who work there but with continuous lack of staff numbers they were unable to do the basics sometimes like providing clean jugs of water each day etc. The good carers are completely let down by their management. We complained to the Deputy Manager and Manager but they were very uncaring and showed no compassion at all, blaming their staff and not the shortage of them! The kitchen upstairs is not great with dirty cups, cutlery, kettle etc. Food was repeatedly not cut up into small pieces as had been asked to do, so our relative wouldn’t eat it. Also a big problem was our relatives call Bell was hidden from her a lot. Admittedly she called for staff a lot but the call bell should not be hidden from a very frightened, frail lady who was unable to walk or get up on her own.
The list of negatives could go on but we believe that Care UK only care about how much money they are making. When our complaints to the homes management went unheard we went higher to the Area Management we soon found out that all the management stuck together, even making up lies about incidents that occurred.
The Deputy Manager, Manager, Area Manager and Care Uk management in a whole, fail their RESIDENTS and fail their CARERS too. The carers are understaffed, underpaid and over worked and they deserve better and so did our relative.
Poorly trained staff
Poorly trained, poorly paid staff - some of whom do their best. Everything is for show only. 'Care' basic yet prices cnstantly increasing. I rue the day I chose this care company.
Father~in~law stay 3 weeks . We have since come to a satisfactory agreement. Please take on board this was only one of care uk homes. They will know which one,
Father~in~law stay 3 weeks. Went to collect him. Unable to take him home.
Did not encourage to keep up his walking ,he was walking previously. had no choice but to pay for more weeks. I spent 5 days getting him to walk. sat through meals with him ,and saw why he had lost 6LB in weight. I saw no encouragement apart from one or two dedicated eve staff. the other days staff just took it away ,just said you don't want it and put it in the bin. weight loss not surprising. No cutting into manageable pieces, offer of spoon instead of struggling with a knife and fork. most put out when i asked for a spoon, Dad managed all 3 courses with my help all week." Food was excellent". His tooth paste and rinse not touched, 3 weeks of no help to clean teeth, complained twice before it got done. Residents tell the family they don't brush my teeth," please believe them they do not". Its a shame as the building is bright clean that sold it to me, At the end of the 1st week dad went down with dehydration & pneumonia,Hospitalized. That was the last straw. We decided he was not going back . Cleared his room soiled clothing urine/ blood was left in the room for 2 days the smell so bad, housekeeping gave me 2 bags to seal it..Someone said before all they care about is money, It came to the refund, Charged 2 weeks for 1 week, I had no contract signed, was not told prior to stay. I wish i had only paid 1 week at a time, It took 2 months to get part of it back, yet if you don't pay in advance they charge interest. After all its their fault Dad had to stay, had his care been up to standard.
As i told a member of staff there is a difference between encouraging .residence and forcing them
Beware: check dates be clear on charges, i had to chase his pocket money of £90 not spent, that wasn't in the refund either.
I was a well trained carer, and know how things should be done, as for what i saw, residence were not having the care they deserve.
We are still chasing Dads money.
NOTE: No Rude conduct was experienced . We received dad's money, not too long after.we were greatful for the compromise they were willing to give. Spent his last months in another not ideal but he was really cared for , He was much happier there. Bless him.
Staff are good but management is totally uncaring.
My wife and I placed her father in a Care UK home . The staff are brilliant but the admin and especially the management are aloof and out of touch with everybody, their only concern seems to be money. I raised three questions with Care UK about six weeks ago and am still awaiting answers, keep reiterating the points and keep being told that the home manager will contact my wife and nothing, talk to them again and told it will take them 20 days to answer and they have had 6 weeks.
I can not praise the caring staff enough and the home it self is good and clean but the management are not at all interested in you, so be warned that it is all about the money. Told us it was £3400pm when we visited for a viewing which is a reasonable price. When we actually came to place him they wanted £3400 up front plus £1700 admin fees ( for what they will not say ) and another £1700 as a deposit of some kind which is refundable should he leave but we were told by the assistant manager ( in answer to a question ) that if he dies in the home it is not refundable as he did not leave. I have raised this as a question as well, as our contract states different, but they will not answer this either and also they will not explain why all these additional charges are not mentioned at visit and only become apparent when you are at a point of no return.
By all means feel free to contact Had Office but they will just pass it back to the home and they in turn will just ignore you. Such an uncaring attitude at a stressful time for us and any family is just what you do not want.
Fail for nothing
Keeping quite a lot of uneducated employees in key roles will end up in destroying the business in the long run. You better make sure to appoint the right employees in the right positions. it needs Organisational Restructure from scratch.
Employees are the most important asset in every successful company, and they determine the organisation's direction.
It is nice to have a '' picture with the CEO thanking you for anything you did'' it is just formalities and everyone will be pictured, just wait.
Restructuring, Reevaluation of who is doing what is essential if you want to survive in the long run, otherwise I will not be sorry for your fail.
Care that I would give my mum if I was able to.
The moment you enter the building the atmosphere is amazing. Friendly, smiling staff and often a bustle of activity among the residents. The main thing I noticed was that the residents came first, then the family. Just what I want for my mum, the feeling of belonging, of being necessary and of being included. She had been so lonely in her flat. I cannot rate the staff more highly, from Karen Milligan at our first meeting to David and the whole staff in mums unit. Thank you all.
Swift, caring, professional service
Our Care UK doctor was called just after surgery hours and gave my wife a full examination for the possible cause of her acute abdominal pain. He diagnosed likely pancreatitis, called the hospital and arranged for her to be admitted for observation and treatment. This action was timely and resulted in the problem being overcome. Grateful thanks to Care UK.
Very aware and caring - great setting for a brilliant day out.
We are a group of people with a learning disability and we were invited to sample the activities at lochpark adventure centre run by mr James Baird. from start to finish we were offered appropriate activities which were well organised with safety uppermost. Although these were new experiences for us we did not feel rushed or confused and the atmosphere led to more people having a go because it was relaxed. Andy Peacock led the activities and he was friendly and approachable and fun.
All in all we had a memorable day out thanks to the sensitive organisation.
If you are thinking of a group day out in beautiful surroundings I cannot reccommend this experience highly enough.
Thank You to All at Lochpark
What outstanding treatment!
Had second knee replacement in April at Emmersons Green Care UK Hospital. From the brilliant orthopaedic surgeon, wonderful nurses, lovely food, great private room complete with on suite, spotless facilities and marvellous care it was better than being in a top class hotel! Even when I returned home, I rang the 24 hour advice line as I had twisted my knee and was offered an appointment with my consultant the next day. I was given an ex-ray and examination and he assured me all was well. The whole experience was exceptional and Care UK must be congratulated for their professional services. I would certainly chose a Care UK facility again.
If you are skeptical Like I was don't be, the service is quick, good and the treatment if fine.
When I was first referred to LIMSS I was very concerned that I was being fobbed off with a second rate service just to get rid of constant moans about my shoulder pain.
When I queried the appointment My doctor, for whom I have great respect said " go along and see, if you don't like it you can always leave". I attended the appointment in the evening and was most surprised at the way it all went. everything about the place was very slick. the Consultant ,Doctor Jean, I can not remember his surname, was excellent. He recommended a particular treatment which he carried out there and then with the words lets see how you get on with this. It has worked very well indeed and whilst it is not a complete cure the pain has been reduced to almost zero and I can now do hours of manual work in the garden without the agony I suffered prior to my visit to LIMSS. In short give it a go, you will, I am sure, be as pleased as I am
First class care all the way.
My husband recently had operations on both his hands, one in February and one in April at Emmerson Green Treatment Centre. We were impressed with the ALL the staff, the cleanliness of the hospital, and the overall treatment he received. When I think that two days after both of his operations he had a call from a member of staff asking if he had recovered and did he have an concerns. That is over and above the call of duty. I would not hesitate to recommend the Centre to anyone and if ever either of us have treatment I would want it to be there.
Just simply 'the best'
Our dear Mum came to care UK in March 2014. She was a palative care resident, suffering from lung cancer. From the first time the arrangements were made, with the Cumberland Care home in Mitcham, she was made so very welcome. The care home manger, Tamba came to visit Mum in the local hospice in Cheam. They got to know one another well. Both myself and my 2 brothers cannot praise this care home enough! The staff there are simply amazing. We used to joke with Mum 'move over' we want to live here too! They are just the kindest, caring team we could have ever wished for, in every way possible. Not once was anything too much trouble, even when they were busy, the night team were equally lovely-we phoned everyday, visited Mum everyday and they were always informative, loving, kind and very professional at all times. Sadly mum's known illness took her on 7 May 2014. But we have been supported by this lovely care home from the first day to the last. We will continue to support them on their 'fete days' and any other events they hold. It our small way to say 'Thank you' for everything they did to keep Mum well, fed, washed, happy and she knew they cared so much, which meant we, her family were able to be assured she was safe, and in amazing hands. Mum said she felt the care she got was better than the hospice-which is the highest 'thank you' this care home could recieve.
From Evelyn,Anthony and Peter, in loving memory for our dear Mum-Una Precious.
Pity on a drowned rat!
I recently went to Emerson's Green in Bristol for an exploratory eye operation. The info regarding buses was out of date on the leaflet (hence four out of five stars) and I ended up walking over a mile in the pouring rain, arriving 10 minutes late and soaked to the skin. (One other criticism - signposting may be good for car drivers, but for pedestrians making their way from the shopping centre it is non-existent). The receptionist took one look at me, directed me to the waiting area, offered me a towel and dry clothes and a very welcome hot coffee. She told me to come and look for her after my treatment, where she had arranged a taxi home. In a day and age where service and civility are so rare, I am very grateful to you for your help.
GREVILLE HOUSE IN RICHMOND, SURREY IS EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!
My dear friends,
I would like to thank all the staff at GREVILLE House for their kindness, professionalism and friendliness, especially Linda and Fariya. Without exception everyone there, the Cleaners, Chef's, Care Staff and Management gave unconditional attention to my every need. Popping into my room for a chat whenever they could. They always had a smile for me!
I was very sorry to leave as I made such a lot of friends. A few of the staff have kept in touch and have even taken the time to visit me on their day off during my recent stay in hospital.
I cannot praise GREVILLE House enough and would be very happy to move there permanently if I could!
THANK YOU ALL.

One happy Mother, amazing, smiley faces all round :)
So far so good, one happy Mother, first time for years. It's a new care home with all the right idears, nice staff which is important, lots going on or you can choose quiet if preferred. Management very willing to listen and take on board any issues. Long may this continue and we will have a number one care home for a long time. *** 10/10
Winchcombe Place puts residents at the top of the agenda with bright, airy and clean facilities, topped off with excellent staff.
My elderly father moved into the new home Winchcombe Place in Newbury, as the third resident in early April. Previously he had been a resident at a residential home in Poole.
The facilities are obviously brand new but all the staff have been extremely helpful and friendly, but professional. The ethos is that the home belongs to the residents with the staff being lucky to be able to share the environment. In my Dad's previous residential home I always got the feeling I was in the carers' way when I visited and that my Dad got in their way. At Winchcombe I feel welcome all the time and really feel it is my Dad's home as does he. Everywhere is bright and airy and restful.
Another great difference is that in the previous 6 months, my Dad had only been out in the fresh air a couple of times, however, it was a wet winter! At Winchcombe he has had a walk most days when the weather permits, either in the grounds with his zimmer or the staff have taken him farther afield in his wheelchair.
The staff are always thinking of new ideas to interest and stimulate the residents (talking about the news; what the residents had done during the war; playing skittles, reading poetry, planting seeds for the garden or going on trips to local historical buildings). The staff keep the relations involved and phone quickly to report problems.
The food is good and plentiful with choices should the residents not fancy the menu. There is plenty of room for residents to move about and pass one another in the corridors and a great choice of where they want to sit; whether that is in the cafe, the lounge, the hobby room or in their own rooms. Consequently they can keep as much independence as possible. Cleaning is continually being carried out and the air always smells good.
Warm, Welcoming and Outstanding Care given, at Wade House, Stowmarket.
This was my Dads first experience of respite care. He had a wonderful 10 days at Wade House in Stowmarket and the difference it has made to him is so lovely to see, he is happier and coping much better with everyday life since his stay.
The admission was classed as an emergency, and Manager Karen dealt with this so quickly, caringly & lovingly, making it such a warm and easy process.
All Staff were so very attentive, loving and caring, dad was made to feel welcomed as soon as he walked through the doors. The food looked and smelt amazing and Dads appetite came back very quickly. The safety & security was outstanding, both at the main doors and also inside the building, which put my mind at rest for Dads needs.
Dad had his own bedroom which was extremely clean and spacious and well equipped, with a lovely view out to the gardens.
Dad really enjoyed the company in the Lounge area mixing and chatting with others, but also having his own space in his bedroom to retreat to if he wished.
When Dads stay came to an end, he said he missed the company and the family feel he had enjoyed in his 10 day stay.
The standard of care was outstanding and I would highly recommend Wade House, Stowmarket to anyone considering choosing a care home.
