I withdrew from my application due to a lack of transparency around the rental figure. After an initial amount was discussed, the tone of communication changed and the price after agreement decided increased all of a sudden later in the process, before any tenancy had started or been formally agreed. Not what I agreed it wasn't the price change that was frustrating it was the experience and lack of transparency.
This was disappointing and created unnecessary stress. Communication felt inconsistent and slow, which further undermined confidence in the process.
Clear, upfront communication and fair handling are essential when dealing with housing matters. Unfortunately, I believe there is room for significant improvement in customer service and internal processes.

Expensive and poor customer service. As a landlord any issue raised caused a minimum £90 call out even for the most minor queries. Work carried out by the most expensive contractors too, and quite unreliable.
Also had issues with rent being much lower than my new agent can provide much faster too. Had many tenants pass references but then go on to default on rent, which inevitably leads to months of no rent and eviction.
My advice for new landlords or non-professional landlords find someone better. I would never use them again

Really poor experience with Chancellors for our new rental property. Moved in to the property and have found that the pre-tenancy clean that was organised though their partners was left unfinished. Tops of kitchen cupboards and appliances not cleaned, food markings on the kitchen walls, mould on walls not cleaned off…
When I raised this with Chancellors I was initially hopeful for a resolution. Since then I’ve been contacted by multiple different employees, all providing platitudes and waffle and none actually supporting me to hold the cleaning company accountable. To add insult to injury, I’ve now been told that I should speak to my landlord about it when the clean was ORGANISED and RECOMMENDED by Chancellors themselves (with a mould clean included in the £450 price tag). An embarrassing lack of service and empathy from a well-established letting agent. Don’t expect them to provide a good service, or support you once they get their money.

Peter Drucker coined the phrase “Culture eats strategy for breakfast" and it is important to remember that when you have a company that is in desperate need of a change in culture, reflected by its dysfunctional behaviour, the only hope for change lies in the hands of individual employees, as senior management, who approve strategy are often unaware of what is happening at the client interface. Talented client-facing employees, with high levels of emotional intelligence are extremely valuable assets and senior management needs to recognise their importance and elevate them into a position where they can affect and change the culture of those around them, rather than allow line managers to feel threatened and hide them.
Today, it was my pleasure to make contact with such an employee of Chancellors South East Property Management called Maisie Spooner. Ms. Spooner is potentially a valuable change agent, whom should not only be commended for her handling of my contact this morning, her prompt action and follow-up, but also, whom should be seen as a ‘high potential’.
It is my recommendation that Ms. Spooner receives training in Change Management and be given the full support by her senior management to provide a report on what needs to change at Chancellors. I firmly believe that investing in key performers, such as Ms. Spooner, will reap dividends for Chancellors, so that the company can learn how to change its culture and become a leader within its industry.
