A year on Checkfront
A year on Checkfront: buggy, confusing, and abandoned.
The UI/UX is a maze. Basic settings are scattered across Manage, Ecommerce Setup, and per-product tabs with no indication of what affects what. Setting up a simple product means fighting availability "events" with insane hidden rules, like a single-day event silently closing every other day of your season. Nothing warns you, nothing confirms what a change actually did. You find out when bookings break.
The bugs are the silent kind that cost you money. Products switch to charging $0 when you edit them because mode changes blank the price field. Closures quietly stop blocking dates after you touch a timeslot, so customers can book days the captain closed.
Copying a product drags invisible settings you can't see or remove that break bookings entirely. The email editor destroys your HTML if you click the wrong tab. Payment links can be generated and sent by their own email system while pointing at a payment page that doesn't capture payments, with no warning anywhere in the admin.
The API has been abandoned for years. No endpoints for products, pricing, availability, or notifications, and event reads return empty. "V4 is coming" forever.
Support live chat couldn't explain their own product's behavior when we asked.
The core booking calendar mostly works, and that's the trap: it all looks fine until a paying customer is watching. One star.
