Rude and unprofessional

Jackie is as very rude, ignorant and unprofessional lady. The first time I used her I was very happy with the work she had done so taking all this aside I decided to use her again. Big mistake, I would never ever recommend her to anyone.

First of all, she tried to charge me way over the odds to repair an item compared to other quoted I had had but then came down by quite a few pounds once I said I would think about it, so she could have quoted this price in the beginning. I told her it might be a while before I posted the item to her, and she said that was ok.

When I posted the item, I forgot to put my telephone details in the parcel so she had to write to me to tell me she couldn't accept the cheque I had sent as it was made out to Chinamend and not to her personal account and told me to pay by bank transfer.

When I received the item back it was completely broken into a lot more pieces that when I sent it to her. I rang her and she immediately and she said "as if she had rehearsed it many times before", that it wasn’t her fault; she didn’t even start with a sorry. She said it would be the post office chucking it around and I needed to contact them. After I became upset because it was sentimental to me, she said if I sent it back to her with another £50 and as a favour to me, she would mend it again. I asked if it had been sent insured and she said no; I thought she had told me she would return it insured but she said she had not. I said I sent it to her insured because I thought I had but she said no I hadn’t. I wasn’t sure enough to argue with her because my husband had posted the parcel to her. Mind you I couldn't actually remember what she had said when I first made contacted her because she was so full of herself and constantly rudely interrupted and talked over me. She reminded me that she had gone to a lot of trouble to write to me because I hadn’t put my telephone number in the parcel (even though my initial contact was by her website filling the form, which I am sure the details of which would have still been available to her if she had bothered to look). She then spoke to me very condescendingly saying did I know communication was key. I tried to explain that I have severe anxiety and I am visually impaired, but she didn’t want to listen and just talked over me again telling me that she had anxiety and still managed to communicate properly.

After thinking about the conversation and talking to a friend who has legal background, I sent her an email asking her to either refund my original money or don’t and we could go to the small claims court. I did this mainly because I was so angry that she denied all responsibility for the broken item and wanted to get more money out of me to fix it. Also because there was no way I was going to send it back to her and give her more money for fixing something that was her fault it was broken. Had she wrapped it properly it would have survived the post; it did when I posted it to her.

Jackie then telephoned me and called me a troublemaker and a liar and that my communication skills were shit, she was so rude I just put the phone down.

She then sent me several emails telling me again that II was a troublemaker and a liar and that I could do what I wanted but telling me not to contact her again. She accused me of threatening her; I think because I mentioned the small claims court and pointed out to her that her contract to repair and return the item in one piece was with me and that her contract with the post office was for her to sort out. She told me I watched too much Judge Judy – very professional! She did, however, very quickly return my original payment. I would advise anyone to avoid her at all costs.

Spraypainted Restoration

I took an item for restoration expecting that the damaged areas would be repainted to match the existing paintwork. To my horror the entire item was spray painted in a different type of paint and in different shades to how it was. Within a couple of weeks a small area that had been filled and not entirely rubbed down had cracks and flaking paint This was something that was about 100 years old and I am absolutely gutted.
