Very poor experience.

I was encouraged to join this umbrella company after being told my business mileage claim would not be taxed as long as my agency makes it clear on invoices that it’s business mileage. This later turned out to be incorrect and they have taxed my mileage despite me providing fuel receipt and travel logs. Pension contributions have been deducted despite me clearly stating that I did not wish to opt in. Communication is also a major issue, they are extremely difficult to get hold of when you need help. Overall, a disappointing and stressful experience. I would not recommend.

Have worked through Contractor Umbrella a couple of times now, both times their service was exemplary. Queries are responded to quickly and payments are made same day when received from the agency or client. It was easy to set up salary sacrifice pension contributions too. The only reason I'm not still with them is the agency stipulated their own preferred suppliers. I'd certainly work through them again.

This was my first time contracting so after looking around for an umbrella company who charged, what I felt was, an acceptable competitive margin and who appeared to provide excellent support in signing up, and managing my payroll I chose Contractor Umbrella.

I can say, hand on heart, I have not been disappointed. The support I received from start up through to contract completion has been exemplary. All members of staff I’ve spoken with throughout this period have been so helpful and professional and, any time I have required assistance, have provided responses to any queries I’ve had instantly without delay. The pension they provide as an option is also so easy to set up which was an extra bonus.

If I am called out of retirement again, to undertake another contract, I will definitely be using Contractor Umbrella again as my umbrella company.

No problems with Contractor Umbrella. Found the very helpful. I seem to have lots of problems at times, with me not knowing what to do. Contractor Umbrella guided me through the issues making them not an issue. I would recommend using them.

Great service over 2 different contracts, Never any fuss, the team just gets on with the job.

I was with Contractor Umbrella for more than 3.5 years and never had any issues with them. Always prompt on payment, either the same day or the next day after receving the payment from the agency. Very responsive and catered to all the requests almost immediately. When I started I had named contact which was helpful for the intial queries. I would use them again.

They are one of the best umbrellas out there. It has been a breeze for the last four years. Any issues they always resolved. Karen and Casey have been amazing from the start. They did my salary sacrifice with no problems at all. What more could I ask for. Michaela must have joined recently and has helped a lot when my recruitment agency kept missing payments. I would highly recommend and if needed would no doubt use them again.

I used Contractor Umbrella for around 4 years and cannot fault them as an Umbrella Company, providing an efficient and friendly service. Highly recommended and would not hesitate to use them again in the future.

Customer service was awesome, they were always willing to help and answer every question I had or complaint. Their payments were also always on time.

Unfortunately for me I have had quite a few bad experiences with Umbrella Companies.

I had to move to Contractor Umbrella sin May this year due to Sandersons rules, however these guys have been incredibly helpful, attentive and flexible.

I’m able to ask for a mock payslip monthly to understand my tax, holiday and pension contributions which makes my life so much easier.

The staff are super friendly and very responsive!

Karen especially who has been so welcoming from day 1 and understood completely what I needed for an umbrella company and why!

I also like their fees and their speed of sending my pension contributions to my SIPP provider, some umbrella companies hold the money for 30 days!! These guys don’t!

I've been with contractor umbrella for 4 years now and I rate them very highly. On the rare occasion there's been an issue , it's been quickly and courteously sorted

Into my second engagement via CU they are just as efficient, helpful and pleasant to deal with as I remember from last time. Highly recommended and a special shout out to Casey Bunker who has given great support on the group pension side.

I've partnered with CU for a 6-month contract inside IR35, the team was great in responding to my queries, did a great job in handling my taxes and payments. I'd highly recommend CU. I'd definitely work with them for my next contract.

Contacter Umbrella performed payroll services for me, generally without any problems. Where there were occasional problems, I found there customer service to be responsive and helpful.

Great umbrella company. Have used them for my last 2 inside IR35 contracts and the team have been wonderful. Issues have been solved promptly (mainly my misunderstandings) and they have always been there on the phone and emails to answer queries and questions. I would highly recommend if you need an umbrella company to take care of your tax and contract admin.

My experience with Contractor Umbrella has been nothing but positive. They have aways been responsive and they provide a very personal service. Chasing clients when needed, been very transparent and adaptive to ensure that I always trusted everything they did and that they had my interest at heart throughout the time they have work for me / ive worked for them :)

Simply the worst umbrella company I have ever been with. Initial onboarding took nearly two weeks. On my first pay run I checked at midday they had everything they need so we had plenty of time to fix any issues. They confirmed everything was fine. 4pm came and I still hadn't been paid. I called and they said again everything was fine and money will be in my bank by 5pm. 4:59pm (one minute before they close for the weekend) they emailed and said they were missing something and still couldn't pay me. Immediately I tried to call them but by that point the office was closed. Now Monday, I find out they didn't require whatever it was they said they needed. They've sent me a payslip in which they have charged more than agreed for the weekly margin. On top of all that it took them until gone 5pm to finally pay me. Do yourself a favour, if you want to get paid on time choose anyone but Contractor Umbrella

Contract Umbrella has been a Godsend.
After a bad experience with a different company, Contract Umbrella stepped in and seamlessly cleaned up their mess.
I get paid on time. Clear and detailed payslips.
I've never had any trouble contacting them. Plus great customer service, all at a decent price.
I would suggest people go on their own experience and not other's reviews!

I left Contractor Umbrella over a year ago due to the lack of transparency with payslips and pay. It was always a guessing game if myself and others were actually going to be paid.

I always felt like there was something strange going on with this company so I signed up to monitor them through companies house. As Jackson below mentioned it looks like they are struggling to keep up with their accounts and they went from 350k profit to 250k loss in their last accounts.
