Four months ago I rented a storage unit…
Four months ago I rented a storage unit at the CubeSmart in Aransas Pass, TX at a rate of $113/mo for the first 4 months. After that the rate was supposed to increase to the normal rate that was 35% higher. Yesterday I received notice that the new rate is $250/mo—135% higher! I called the site manager in Aransas Pass who said it was a corporate decision and nothing could be done. Clearly, CubeSmart is running a bait and switch operation suckering people like me with a low introductory rate then sticking it to us. Do not rent from these unethical slime balls.
Meth, Weed and cigarette smoking in the storage
I have a unit at 3103 N Decatur Rd Scottsdale, GA 30079. I have been there since they first opened. The facility was fine at first, the Manager Doug at that time was always very nice and helpful. However, after opening it’s become an absolute nightmare. The Management went from nice and helpful to horrible whenever the office is staffed. There has been a 25% rate increases every three months since I moved in. with no access to the restroom when Management is not available (which is 99.9%) of the time. And no trach can or dumpster for the customer’s. failure to repair the front door after months and months of it being broken.
And now the biggest situation ever, someone is smoking Meth, weed and cigarette’s in the storage. One would think with all those hundreds of cameras that are in place it shouldn't be a problem to find out who this person is. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Manager isn't already aware who this person is. So in the event there’s a fire please don’t allow them to make you collect off your insurance. As of April 2023 the Corporate office was made aware of what's going on and as of May 2023 it's still going on.

Constantly poor customer service
1. Bill pay system is not a good experience. I have 2 units and they don't let me pay 1 x for both and they don't tell me how much I paid when I'm done.
2. I have been complaining about lights out in the hall for over 5 years, the manager at the Buffalo Speedway location in Houston told me they had been repaired when they took over. Yet, when I went to my unit several months later the same lights (one right above my unit) were still out. She lied!!
3. The back gate has not worked for years. People can get in, but you can't get out of the gate, which is a fire hazard if your on the back of the property and there is a fire.
3. They changed the date for the late fee without notification. It used to be on the 10th of the month. I get my Social Security on the 2nd Wed of the month and was told, too bad, so sad for you (this is from corporate). The previous manager (not cubesmart) told me if I my payment was late due to my income date, he would not charge me the late fee.
4. It looks like from their website that they give special prices to military and students, NOT to senior citizens who also need it. They don't seem to care about us.

I have just moved into the new cubesmart in Rock Hill SC. As a nonprofit organization we were searching for a location near our organization. I've read a lot of negative reviews about cubesmart, but I have to say that the GM- Pam made us feel welcomed and safe. She is certainly energetic and is managing a new location with little staff. we can appreciate this as growth and income have to meet.
It is disappointing that cubesmart does not work with the local nonprofit community, we hope that this will change in the future. Being connected with the community that you serve is always a plus. We are giving Pam and cubesmart 4 Stars to start. We will update you our local community as the journey and our relationship grows. Looking forward to it!

CubeSmart a new way to store what you do not use at home, CubeSmart has spaces of different sizes, the largest even to store the furniture of a house. First class service, the secretary is a smart person who guides you from start to finish always with a smile. All lovely and secure, with your password you can enter at any time. They rip you off!
They charge old customers twice what they charge new customers and they raise rates 20% per year. Don't rent from them!

Newport, KY Cubesmart
Newport, KY location was great. The facility was very clean and dollies were always available for us. I believe Paul was working the day I had left and he was very personable and helpful during this process. I would definitely recommended this location to a friend.
CubeSmart on Callowhill in PA: DO NOT USE!
CubeSmart: 501 Callowhill, Philadelphia PA: DO NOT USE THIS FACILITY. They have one job....to protect the belongings in their facility. They failed.
We rented a 10x10 unit in March '22 in a temporature-controlled gated area. We usually come once or twice a month to bring new items or retrieve other items. Yesterday when we arrived, the motorized loading gate was broken and was wide open, though I did not see any car backed in and using it (wonder how long that had been broken and open). Also, we noticed that one of the doors that should close automatically behind a guest doesn't quite catch and is often left ajar if you don't manually close it (wonder how long that had been not operating properly).
So, On Sunday 2/25 when we got into our area, we noticed a pair of our slippers sitting outside of the garage gate to our unit. The lock appeared to still be on the garage door; howevever, when we touched it the entire locking apparatus fell to the floor. We lifted the gate and discovered that we had been robbed!
Someone had entered the secure location, climbed on top of the storage units, looked down through the chicken wire (I guess they liked what they saw in ours), cut through the wire on the top, looked through all of our things and ransacked our possessions, unscrewed the locking apparatus from inside the unit, exited through the garage door, jerry-rigged the lock to LOOK like it was intact and walked out with large, expensive and some irreplaceable items.
To add insult the injury, there was a single staff person on site (there is usually just one person and the only security is doors/gates that require a code). We immediately notified the staff person who was only able to take pictures and give us a brochure to call for insurance. There was no offer for a free temporary space to house our items until a secure location could be found....not even an offer for free boxes to box the items that had been removed from luggage (that was stolen) and strewn about.
We filed a police report, and we will definitely file a claim...which won't cover all that we have lost like personal papers, priceless jewelry, etc. We will also notify the BBB and every outlet that we can find to help others from making the same mistake that we did by using this facility. DO NOT USE THIS FACILITY.

Update, Cubesmart has since relinquished the requirement of signing one doc (my lawyer said it was ok to fill out the others) but now they are requiring me to fly out to the site and be there in person in order to retrieve my brother's belongings even though I have somebody already there in Phoenix able to retrieve them.
My brother left his stuff with Cubesmart but passed away this fall. Cubesmart has been nothing but a nightmare in trying to retrieve his belongings. I highly recommend never leaving your belongings with them. They force you to continue to pay for the storage while retrieving your deceased brother's belongings through litigation.

They left the door handle broken on one of the buildings for 4 months and then of course somebody just walked in and robbed a bunch of units including mine. I'm not in the state. They asked me to come in and I can't. Then they sent me tiny photos, like thumbnails to see what was missing. Then I sent my mom there to take photos so I can file a police report. They wouldn't let her in even though I have called multiple times. So I had to pay $15 to get something notarized just so she could get in even though they let random people rob the place. Also the manager was gone for 4 days after this happened. It's like they really just don't care.
A bad experience !
I'm highly disappointed in the management team on El Centro in Oceania Oceanside ,Dawn came of to be friendly at first ,she seems to like helping the customers out by buying things that they might be selling well I approached her once and she took the merchandise and didn't even pay me for 2 weeks and I'm not quite sure what she even got then it has time rolled by we can kind of friends she let a customer stay there that totally destroyed the front place from the place pulled all the plants out it looks terrible and he buried pallets in front of the office she didn't do anything she let him stay there and it was like a bed and breakfast he had his girlfriend there for 5 days and they were told pics then there's another woman there that I guess is supplying her with drugs she told me last night as I was helping her unload some things customers left her a whole Warehouse full of merchandise and she wanted to distribute it to different stores as we were doing that she had told me that she wanted to stop doing the drugs and then the next morning she evicts me but yet the drug dealer gets to stay I'm appalled appalled she want me all the way so I wouldn't say anything she made a mistake by telling me that she drinks and does drugs I knew she drank but I didn't know she did drugs as well as being supplied by someone and one of the units that stays there at night and 129 b management might want to check into that a little further and give her a drug test as well she's she was worried about that she said she needed to get clean and there you did you just promoted her you just promoted a druggie and I'm pissed off that she evicted me and she had me doing little jobs for her so she can look good on her promotion so I would be cleaning all the stairs and I never got paid for any of it and she promised to pay me as well and then she gets rid of me just like that I think she needs to be fired I wouldn't let his fart run my place with a woman like that it's not professional at all and I will be speaking with corporate as well on this matter this took place February 1st 2023

We been a long time customer of Cubesmart. Had taken several units. The recent experience left a very bad taste !!! We been on autopay with credit card. When we went to vacate one of the units, they had already taken the payments just 2 days ago and refused to give us a refund. The local unit manager refused to refund saying once payment is taken, NO REFUND!!! We called the customer service and talked to one Stephanie and she said they will take care of it and the Divisional Vice President will contact us. The District manager named Britney called after few days and said, according to their policy, they cannot refund once they take the money!!!! We called the customer service again and talked to one Mike and asked him to talk to some one above the district manager and he said the Divisional Vice president will be calling us within 24 to 48 hours. we have waited several days and called them back again and Britney the same District Manager called and said the same thing again instead of the Divisional Vice President.
It is a long story. Let me make it short. Each time we call the customer service to talk to the Divisional Vice President (the name they gave me is Ravinder Sethi), they gave us new case numbers and each time they will say he will call within 24 to 48 hours which NEVER HAPPENED!!!! What a customer service this Ravinder Sethi do!!!! I have over 10 people's name with different case numbers. Finally I called this morning again and talked to Sherine and asked her to let me talk to a supervisor about our situation. After a long hold she came back and said the supervisor talked to Ravinder Sethi and he said no refund and your case is closed and HUNG UP THE PHONE ON ME!!!!!!!!
Let Cubesmart keep and get rich with a 73 year old and a handicapped wife's $308. May God Bless Ravinder Sethi for his decision with out even making a courtesy call !!!!!!!!

Was I wrong they had Rodents that ate through my boxes and good thing I kept the plastic on my new Furniture I had to throw so much stuff away and the guy I spoke to about the situation was so nonchalant it made my blood boil no one has ever given me anything I have worked for everything I have and for this person ( I can’t say what I want)! Fees, fees, fees, and more fees. Do not believe a single thing that is quoted to you. I have been the victim of bait and switch when reserving online. Magically the reservation price switches from the time you reserve it until the time you make the payment.
Want to make a payment onine via the app? There is a fee for that too.
Want to use your own lock? You can't. You MUST buy a lock from them.
Want to use your own insurance? You can, but you MUST jump through a lot of hoops to make it work, and even then the store claims to have never received the declarations document even though it was sent several times.
