I didn’t just purchase a dog — I became part of the DDR family. ❤️

We originally contacted Ben and DDR because we were looking for a guard dog, and that’s when we came across the Zero to Hero programme.

From my very first contact with Ben, he was amazing. He took the time to understand our family, meet the children and actually get to know our day-to-day life. He didn’t just try to sell us a dog; he took the time to understand what would work for us.

He gave us different options and let us meet a few different dogs before deciding which one would be the right fit for our family. He was completely honest about what would suit us, what would be expected from me, and what it would take to get the best out of both Vhagar and me. He also made it clear that the training wasn’t just about training the dog — I with the help from Ben and Connie learnt plenty too!

After several visits, training sessions and a few home stays, we finally brought Vhagar home. But what really stood out to me was that the support didn’t stop once we had taken him home.

I still regularly go back for training, whenever I feel like I need a bit of guidance. Sometimes you just need someone to watch what you’re doing and give you that little bit of reassurance or advice. It helps me be the best owner I can be for Vhagar and, in turn, helps Vhagar be the best he can be for me.

Whenever we go away, Vhagar stays with Ben and the DDR team, along with my other two Cockapoos, through his boarding service. I know they’re all incredibly well looked after, and it’s such a relief knowing that when we go away, I don’t have to worry about finding somewhere for all three of them to stay. They’re happy, they’re looked after and I know they’re in safe hands.

We also buy Ben’s dog food — which, according to Vhagar, is absolutely delicious! If I’ve ever tried giving him anything else, he makes it very clear he’s not impressed and literally goes on food strike! 😂

Vhagar recently hurt his paw too. I’d already had it looked at by my local vets, to which I was not convinced, I wanted some additional guidance, so I spoke to Ben and got some really sensible advice. For now, I’m resting Vhagar’s paw and keeping a close eye on it. If there’s no improvement, the in-house vets at Noah’s Ark will take a look for me. Knowing Ben and how much he genuinely cares about the dogs, it’s reassuring to know that I have that extra support and that Vhagar can be properly assessed if needed.

And honestly, that’s what makes DDR different.

The support, training, advice and aftercare continue long after you take your dog home. You’re never just left to figure it all out on your own, and for me, that’s worth so much.

Vhagar has become such a huge part of our family, and I genuinely couldn’t imagine having him without the journey we’ve had with Ben, Connie and DDR team.

A very high quality professional service.

Storm was boarded and trained for 2 weeks. She is an 11 month old Rottweiler. Connie and Eleanor cared for her and she came back in an amazing condition, happy and healthy. Ben and his staff made us all very welcome. Was nervous about boarding her but would not hesitate to use this company again. Thank you!

Had a very good experience with DDR Guard Dogs. They were able to help us with looking after our dog very last minute. The team were so kind and helpful. This was our first experience leaving our dog in a kennel and the team and Ben were very reassuring. They sent us video updates. We definitely recommend them and will be using them again in the future.

Its now almost three years since I first brought my Cane Corso called Kane to DDR.
Kane was ultra reactive and a danger to everyone particularly as he is 70kg and extremely powerful.
I place Kane with DDR for board and train every time I am away and the difference in him is night and day. He is still protective which comes with the breed but a lot happier in himself and reacts well to commands and lead control. I have also learnt from the DDR team how to better control him.
Kane was over 2 yoa before we started training in earnest and bad behaviour had become ingrained I would strongly advise owners of the breed to get serious training from an early age.

We checked our boy Chekhov (Rottweiler x English mastiff)in for a few weeks as he was showing some signs of aggression. Ben was very confident around him even whilst Chekhov was being very intimidating.

We want back after a few weeks to do some in person training together with the trainer's and there was already a noticeable difference. Ben was personally walking Chekhov on the lead, very calmly, something I never thought I would see from our dog. It was very impressive.

Whilst Chekhov was boarding the on site vet was able to treat and cure a long existing ear infection that other vets had failed to resolve. This was more than likely a big contributor to Chekhov's aggression

Over the next couple weeks I spent a few hours together with Chekhov and the trainers. Reinforcing the training that they had done with Chekhov in the initial weeks. This helped us to continue the training at home after the boarding

Facilities here are excellent and Ben really knows his stuff. All the staff are super friendly and you can tell they really care about the dogs they look after and train.

I would highly recommend this place for anyone who has similar issues with their dog

Top quality facility, high quality dog training top class trainers patience when explaining how to control the dog my wife and my self was both told how to handle the dog ,he went on a month boot camp ,we are very happy with the results we highly recommend ddr guard dogs

Great experience , we board our beloved AmStaff here whenever we go away. She comes home happy, healthy and looking great! Great team and highly recommend.

Ben stepped up at short notice when we struggled to find daycare for our young, large breed dog. We hoped our dog would benefit from extra training and keep his brain active while he was away. We’ve seen our dog grow in confidence during his stays with DDR - he was very nervous at the beginning but now barely looks back when we leave. He retained his sweet temperament and we have seen significant improvements in his confidence with other dogs, people and livestock; responsiveness and recall; and, a big one due to his size, his handling on the lead. Ben’s team have given great advice and support during our handovers. We are hoping to continue our journey with DDR by one to one lessons so we don’t undo their good work!

If I could give less than 1 star, I would.

The responses DDR Guard Dogs leaves to negative reviews say it all. There never seems to be any genuine accountability just excuses and attempts to defend what happened.

They were very quick to take our £21,000, but getting our money back after things went wrong has been a completely different story. We were offered a red dog despite making it clear that we did not want a red dog then make it our we didn't accept their solution!
We were then offered £8,000 back out of the £21,000 which, for the record, we never received. Then we were sent a message saying, “See You In Court.” So yes, unfortunately, that is now where this is heading.

Two dogs with health problems in the same transaction raises serious questions.

Whenever we questioned something or raised a concern, we were made to feel as though we were being difficult, stupid or simply overreacting.

The most upsetting part was the dog’s health. We knew something wasn’t right and raised our concerns, but instead of being taken seriously, we felt as though we were being treated like we were exaggerating or making it up. Ultimately, it was the poor dog who suffered while the situation dragged on.

I’m sure there will be a lengthy response underneath this review explaining how everything possible was done and disputing our version of events.

So Avoid them at all cost!!

We have got a boerboel South African mastiff he was a bit of a handle we sent him to DDR guard dogs for 4 weeks training which he came back so obidient and completely different dog all for the right reasons as they did a superb job training him. so when we went on holiday for 10 days we would only send him back there because they are really well looked after and he had more training they keep you up to date with daily videos and always ask what he needs sharping up on the staff there are excellent at what they do and really know what they are doing I would highly recommend them as they are a really professional business and you can relax whilst you are away as this is a 10 out of 10 rating

Luna has stayed here several times and has also received training with the team, so our recommendation comes from several positive experiences rather than a single visit.

The owners and staff are genuinely caring, knowledgeable and professional. The peaceful farm setting is beautiful, and it is clear that every dog receives individual attention, care and affection.

Luna is always happy to return, which says everything about how comfortable and secure she feels here. Every time we collect her, she comes home relaxed, healthy and content. As dog owners, there is no better feeling than knowing your dog is safe, happy and loved while you are away.

During a particularly difficult time for our family, the team showed us exceptional kindness, flexibility and understanding. Their support gave us enormous peace of mind, and we will always be grateful for that. Small gestures of kindness meant so much to us and reflected the warmth and generosity of the people who run this wonderful place.

What began as a boarding and training service has become a place we completely trust and a team we think of as an extension of our family.

Amazing school for dogs!

An amazing dog-minding service, but they do way more than that. They have the most amazing farm in the countryside with so many animals! Donkeys to dogs to turkeys! Such a happy place! Highly recommend..

Rude owner talks rudely dont use their services

Absolutely shocking experience – avoid this company at all costs.

In our experience, this company is completely untrustworthy. We feel misled, ripped off, and left to deal with the consequences while they take no accountability whatsoever. We are now over £21,000 out of pocket, and the owner’s attitude suggests they see nothing wrong with this.

As a young family, this has been devastating for us financially and emotionally. The lack of responsibility, transparency, and basic customer care is beyond unacceptable.

Please do yourself a favour and stay well away. Get advice, do your research, and speak to other companies before even considering them. We wish we had.

This has been an incredibly costly mistake that we wouldn’t want anyone else to repeat.

Ben’s team and there services are invaluable to a Belgian malinois owner like myself. Confidence and ability to manage and train is exceptional . Not enough words can express how amazing they are . Highly recommend
