Advertised something in stock they didn't have in stock!

Advertised (and even continued to do so, after I spoke to them) a pizza oven that actually was not even in stock! Even on the day of my refund, it was STILL advertised as in stock and 3-5 day delivery. That is unforgiveable.

The only reason why they DON'T have 1 star rating is twofold - a) they replied to my questions in a timely manner and b) the refund was quick.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience. At this time of year (and especially in terms of demand for outdoor stoves, BBQs, pizza ovens, etc.) stock levels can sometimes fluctuate erratically.

We have asked the web team to double check whether the pizza oven in question has now come back into stock and if not then this will be urgently reflected on our website with a new expected lead time.

Great until things go wrong !

Ordered 13/3/26 with requested installation 10 April which seemed fine when ordering but few days later told they needed few more days but as I was going on holiday we agreed 20 April. Installers all confirmed.

On 20 April installers arrived at your warehouse to find on,y half of the order there - just the fire and flue but no slips or hearth, Surely you have someone who checks and expedites orders in advance of collection.

Missing parts delivered few days later and given an installation date …ten days later ! I spoke to the installer direct (who was lovely and agreed to ‘fit me in’). However he had other issues and we eventually agreed an installation date of one week later.

And so it continues, installer arrived only to find the legs of the fireplace did not match the dimensions for the ‘slips’ and once again could not be installed…..the legs were taken away and had to wait a further 12 days.

Today…2 months later …..hallelujah….its installed. Thank goodness for the installation Team.

With regard to Direct Stoves, I had to pay every penny upfront …. Verbal apology from the showroom but nothing more…. no refund discount, no offer of free extras as way of apology …. not even an email apology so clearly once they have your money the rest is just a shoulder shrug and hey ho !

I ran a large business and it is what you do to fix things and appease customer is how you are measured.

Customers who have had a bad experience will tell, on average 18 people whereas people with a positive experience may tell 4/5 people.

FURTHER INCORRECT INFO BELOW:
I was away from 12-18 April hence installation date 20/21 April. I was NOT away until 10th May. When the slips were incorrect size, the warehouse obviously would not know and I did not suggest this but clearly another ‘human error’ in ordering from your mfg.
we were told this would take a further week making it the 8th May and I was away Friday 8th with work hence the final installation date being the 11th.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience relating to this order. It is always our intention to offer the best customer service that we can, and we do understand and appreciate your disappointment in this instance.

To offer some context, this particular order as confirmed with our showroom team includes goods from four different manufacturers. The bespoke tiled slips and hearth from one of these appear to have been delayed without the supplier notifying our warehouse team.

While goods are checked into the warehouse and outstanding items chased as a matter of course, because we had already received a fireplace chamber as a stock (non-bespoke) item from the same manufacturer, the warehouse team appear to have marked this order down as fully received. This will have been down to human error and we can see that our team apologised at the time for the honest mistake.

The issue reported with the surround legs and slips was not something that will have been evident to the warehouse team upon receipt. Your surround was driven directly to the manufacturer on the same day that this was reported and at our cost, to ensure that we could get it altered as a matter of urgency. We can only apologise for the further delay to fitting.

It is also worth our mentioning that you informed the sales team that you were going away until the 10th, and a member of the team rearranged other jobs to ensure that the 11th was free as the earliest possible installation date. We do feel that this illustrates the effort made by our team to expedite a satisfactory resolution.

Great customer service

They were very quick to answer any questions we had. And our fire arrived safely. We have not fitted it yet as lounge is bring redecorated. So far very pleased. With the service we have had .

Product sold as in stock after purchase changed to awaiting stock on the order

Then upgraded to a more expensive model in stock with a promise of delivery next day which then did not arrive.

Had a call to say sorry it didn’t leave our hub in time we can get it to you the following day which much was to late for my needs

Rachael in customer service was polite friendly and tried to exhaust all options she had but non could get the product to me in the time frame promised

Refund was quick

Purchased from another company and collected same day

As you will be aware, our Sales team did speak to the Dispatch team ahead of the order swap to ensure that an expedited delivery would be possible, ahead of your payment upgrade.

We can only apologise for the delay in this instance, as we understand that the depot in question did not dispatch in time to arrange next-day delivery, which will have meant a 24-hour delay. While we make every attempt to fulfill any requested delivery dates, there can be extenuating circumstances relating to dispatch and delivery which are sometimes beyond Direct Stoves' control.

Delivery

Arranged a delivery date when I ordered and took the day off. Needless to say the item didn’t arrive. I even had confirmation of that date selected on the order. This company will no doubt say I was sent an email informing me delivery would be 7-10 days. What I will say to that is it is reasonable to think that is a generic email sent out and not specific when a delivery date was previously confirmed during the order.

We are sorry for any confusion regarding this order. We can only suggest that there was a glitch or error when you ordered via the website which allowed you to select a delivery date. This is not something which we usually offer on goods dispatched direct to the customer from the supplier, as the supplier may have their own lead times and book-in procedures.

We completely appreciate why this may have caused confusion, but we would still stress that the email which you received from our Dispatch team did indeed specify that this would be a 7-10 working day lead time, which will have superseded any prior lead times.

One of the worst experience we have…

One of the worst experience we have ever had!

Sadly I didn’t read the reviews on this company before choosing them.

I emailed with a full description I what we wanted, and followed up with a call.

When I had emailed my requirements I was asked to do it via their website.

When I went to order the solid oak beam I had asked for the option said solid light oak beam (geocast), I called to make sure that was what I was looking for and I was assured it was.

When it arrived with the stove it was a concrete moulded beam, nothing like we had requested.

When I asked to swap it for what I had asked for I was told it was £140 to return that item as I had picked it from their website.

I explained I had had asked via email and phone for a “solid oak beam” and had no idea what a “geocast” was not being in the industry.

I looked at the standard courier cost to return and it was £70, eventually they offered it at that price but said it wasn’t insured and if there was any damage when it arrived but we would loose our £300 for the refund of the item.

6 months on, the stove is installed and the geocast still sits here in its original wrapping.

The returns guy has no interest in admitting liability or helping, our last email he advised the owner had said they wouldn’t help resolve.

The 1 star in for the installers as they did a great job, it’s just the rest of the business I would avoid!

We can see that you submitted a contact request through our website (as is normal procedure) to receive a fitting quotation from our installations team. As part of this, you will have been asked to "Please Select a beam (geocast)" and you appear to have requested the Light Oak option.

Our website does clearly state that the selected beam is "made from natural inorganic minerals for a non-toxic and unburnable alternative to wooden beams". The reason that you would have been asked to select a non-combustible beam is that the clearances required between a wood burning/multifuel stove and a wooden beam or mantle are often quite large. For this reason, mineral or concrete beams are vastly preferable not only to installers but often to customers, who might not otherwise be able to have the effect of a beam directly above the stove chamber.

With the understanding that you were not happy with the beam upon receipt, our returns team agreed to arrange a return at a subsidised returns cost. This will have been as per our usual terms and conditions, stating that "the goods must be suitably packaged to ensure that they would not be damaged in transit and that we would receive them in a re-saleable condition" in order for this to be accepted back. This was also as a gesture of goodwill as the beam was outside of our returns period.

Given your dissatisfaction with this option, and again considering that the geocast beam was as described on our website and as ordered, the only other recourse upon escalation to a managing director was for you to arrange your own return courier.

We are sorry to not have been of more assistance on this occasion,
