Delivery man this morning rolled the gas bottles over the concrete and painted walking in the motel leaving scratches all the way. Unbelievable! And there's a dolly cart on the back of the trailer.
Edit: 2 weeks later and no response. Now I'm told that I'm in the queue for a response.
Every month it's a new driver and now they can't even reverse the truck in. They need to do a three-point turn waking guests up.
Elgas are the only company servicing our area. Im trying to sign up for deliveries but can't get hold of them. What sort of company ignores new customers?
Absolutely DIRE customer service, no refills for 8 months and hours waiting on the phone. Switched to Rockgas who answered straight away...
Since the takeover last year we have had a nightmare with Elgas after being loyal customers for over 13 years, We were Easygas refill customers so a truck filled up our 45kg cylinders at our home, since the takeover they forget to deliver on multiple occassions, when we were completely out of gas last winter, even after multiple urgent phonecalls it took more than a week to get a delivery, no reponse was given to emails and certainly no compensation. Recently they changed us to a swap out account without consent although their Easygas refill service is still advertised online. Staff are very unhappy and being let go locally, the local Easygas depot in Te Poi was closed and an upgrade in Taupo to do the Easygas fills instead was done with a huge cost but then they decomisioned it and just use it for swaps. This company needs to look long and hard at themselves or loose even more business.
I notified Elgas of moving property.
I paid my final bill.
I left the property.
I actually left the country.
But they keep sending me new invoices.
Only an 0800 number so I cant ring them from overseas.
Emailed them multiple times, each time they apologies for not closing the account.
And then they send me another invoice/statement with a demand for payment.
Wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.
Appalling service like many other recent reviews. This company was sold recently and until then have been good but new owners have no idea about running a business. Waiting nearly 4 weeks now with no gas. Had to hook up bbq bottle. CS team keep stalling us. Have had enough. Moved to another supplier. Complained on their complaints system and also on the Utlity Disputes website.
Bottles not delivered for weeks, can't get through on the phone. When emailed to cancel and get bottles picked up no reply for a month. When you call it takes a long time to answer and then they take your details and advise someone will call back... Now I have an invoice for an annual service charge for bottles that are empty and for something I don't even need or want now.
Absolutely appalling responding to online form enquiry. Automated response initially said response within 24hours. Third enquiry, over 4 weeks, now says experiencing high volumes, now days for response. Really. This is not customer service.
continually had so much trouble just trying to order 3 forklift gas bottles of this company.0800 number takes forever to get answered. place an order and nothing turns up.ring back spend another 10 minutes waiting to be told no bottles have been ordered.this has happened multiple times.told to order on there enquiry form? which i did but still no joy. may as well drill my own well-would be quicker and more reliable.
Elgas repeatedly ignore my requests to close my account. I've called about 6 times now. Not once have they contacted me back. The call center actually told me that the branch dealing with Waikato will not even answer their phone or reply to email. Absolutely astounding. I'd guess that elgas is not far away from folding. Steer clear.
Worst gas company ever! AVOID THEM!
I had so many problems, don't even know where to start. From undisclosed charges to my credit card, to orders that I placed and they double charged me without delivering the gas and lastly for taking a month to remove the gas cylinders from a property that I don't live anymore.
Besides that, their customer support is always the same: 30+ minutes of waiting for someone to pickup, the person is from the national call center and can't do anything other than "I will ask Elgas to contact you" and they never contact you back.
Once you're a customer they don't really want to hear from you - rung to find out why my gas bottle refills were increasing by $50 per bottle & asked for someone to contact me - I was told it could take up to 10 working days to get a call back - come on Elgas worst customer service ever - why does it take so long to call a customer back?
This company has appalling customer service. Having to wait 2-3 weeks for gas delivery. After waiting 30 minutes to talk to an actual person on the phone then told delivery was today!! No delivery after guaranteed it would be today. Ordered gas September 7. Not good enough.
Have been with Elgas since they took the customers from Vectra who took over from Ongas . The understanding their website was abysmal. They put their prices up to us in late June 2025 and again just now, at total of 34% increase since May. I will be changing to Kiwi Gas (Christchurch). At least they fix their prices. I will support local from now on.
Terrible service no hearing back from them after complaining several times.
I tried to sign up to be a customer and was given some of the worst customer service from a very angry woman. I then contacted them to enquire about the removal of previous tenants gas bottles and again, met with extremely abrupt and uninterested service agent. Not a good sign when their support are as miserable as my experience was.
