The whole experience was nothing short of reassuring and such care. My surgeon. MR Usmani, was so kind and reassuring. All my concerns were addressed and I felt reassured.
The procedure was painless. I did feel a bit washed out afterwards when I got home. But I slept like a baby that night!
I didn't feel like doing much the following day...so I didn't but today ( the second day after my op) i feel great. I went for a gentle walk this morning and I feel ' back to normal'.
I am being vigilant with the drops prescribed, and my phone is set to beep every 2 hours as a reminder to reapply the drops.
Totally recommend Freedom Vision.

I was even happy with the date as the number 19 means new beginnings...and that's true x

I had left eye cataract done on nhs a few months ago and the experience was straightforward and quick with no pain or being uncomfortable, I had right eye cataract done a couple of days ago at same place bedford which I had done privately with freedom vision an emv toric lens, the whole procedure was painful and uncomfortable and next morning my eye was swollen and painful.

Had a wonderful treatment at Brighton Freedom . Had appointment with Euan today and was so impressed . So polite and thorough with a check up on my YAG , He and my original ophthalmologist George who also did my YAG treatmentsv at spamedica ..were a joy. …Thank you both. Plus the lovely Jess and all the friendly nurses at spamedica. 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹

The entire experience, from initial assessment to completion of the surgery was very smoothly carried out. The staff, at all stages, were friendly, helpful and informative about the various stages of the procedures and answered all my questions; ensuring that I understood all that would happen and what I could expect. This greatly reduced any anxiety that I had.
I was also impressed that the surgeon recognised that my hearing aids had been taken out and ensured that he spoke clearly and faced me, so that I could see his lips when he spoke.
The procedure itself was quick, painless and was completed before I realised it (I had cataracts removed from both eyes on the same day).
The following day, as had been explained, things were very bright and there was a degree of blurred vision but the following morning (this morning), I found that there had been a great improvement in my vision. I can already see better than I could before my cataract surgery and am informed that, providing I follow the after care instructions, I can expect my vision to continue to improve as my eyes heal.
I would like to express my thanks to all the staff that I met throughout the process and can certainly recommend Freedom Vision.

This is the second cataract operation in 4 weeks, my hubby had had a major left sided stroke in April. Both his cataracts before were really bad, it was decided to go private as didn’t want to waiting 20 weeks+ for NHS, it was distressing enough that Tony had great right sided weakness along with speech confusion and unable to see. The first op on the left eye was such a success our Surgeon Mr Basel, recommended the right eye to be done, even though it would not rectify the tunnel vision, it would give him clearer vision of his remaining peripheral sight. As before Mr Basel and his (Taunton team this time, last one was Exeter) were truly AMAZING, compassionate, patient and fully explained the procedure of each step. They are truly 5*+. Highly recommended them

All the staff were very caring and looked after me very well. The attention to detail was immaculate. The surgery was done superbly and very successful. Can't thank all those involved enough.

Patient information and preparation is excellent, no surprises in terms of what to expect . Staff were quietly supportive and efficient . Surgery is swift and business like. A little more reassurance during the procedure itself would have been appreciated but it was an excellent job.

Very professional and reassuring staff. Waiting for an hour in an anti-room with no TV was somewhat difficult. As a private patient I would have expected a cup of tea to be offered without having to go to a machine in another waiting area.
The surgeon was polite, informative and would have discussed any concerns pre-op.
The implant is 100% successful . A good team doing a good job.

The experience from arriving at the clinic and throughout the medical treatment was very positive I was kept informed of all the procedures that would be required and felt reassured that my wellbeing was being supported

I had my first cataract surgery at Freedom-Vision/SpaMedica in Chesterton, Newcastle under Lyme, on 9th July 2026, and the second on 3rd August 2026.
From the initial free consultation to the aftercare offered, I have been completely satisfied. I chose the RayOne Galaxy multifocal lens, which offers the best chance of not needing glasses. Every member of staff I met provided me with clear information to ensure I was fully informed about my surgery and beyond.
The surgery itself was pain-free. Following surgery I was given a course of eye drops with detailed instructions on how and when to administer them, and what to do in the event of any problems, which, I must add, I haven't experienced. I will be going for my follow-up consultation next week after this, my second procedure. The results of my first lens replacement have left me with 20/20 vision. If the second op gives the same results, I can say goodbye to glasses for years to come.
I have no hesitation in recommending SpaMedica.

Remember that scene in ‘The Wizard of Oz’?
From grey fuzz to colour – how splendid that was!
Yesterday’s cataract ops gave me that buzz
My sight instantly became clearer!

Each hour that passes, my world changes focus
No contact lens, glasses or sight hocus pocus
But alas - no excuses for bad driving jokers -
And I must steer clear of the mirror!

‘How can I describe the feeling of getting one’s sight back!’ Were my hubbys words. Basil and his staff are truly AMAZING! My hubby had a left sided stroke in April leaving tunnel vision, and bad cataracts in both eyes. Basil and his team were soo patient and reassuring through the whole process. Nothing was too much trouble, everything was explained clearly with compassion, never in a rush, reassurance at every step/procedure A 5* cataract operation. Faultless

I initially went for a review to SpaMedica in Truro for a possible YAG Capsulotomy. Unfortunately I was told that the appointment was cancelled and that another appointment could be made in approximately 8 weeks’ time. It was a disappointment that no message regarding the cancellation had been received. However, the discussion was overheard by Resh Joshi (Hospital Manager, Truro). He quickly expressed concern that the stated delay was not acceptable and that it would be resolved and a better outcome would be achieved. He listened attentively to my previous history and sought the input from the Patient Liaison Manager (Nicky Halpin). It became apparent that they both worked closely together to resolve these issues. Nicky was fantastic in organising a new schedule with the aid of Emma (Optometrist). It was apparent they were a fabulous team who worked closely together. In a short time the YAG Capsulotomy was done by Emma and my sight was restored.
Finally, I feel that having to say thank you doesn’t feel like enough, but I want to express just how much I appreciate everything that the three of you and SpaMedica have done. Your dedication, kindness and the extra effort you put in have made a massive difference for me and I’m incredibly grateful to have had such wonderful support with a fabulous outcome in so short a time.

The best decision I have made was to entrust Freedom Vision with now both my Cateract Surgeries. From the start of my journey April 2026 till July 2026 has been amazing, Newark staff have been wonderful.
Went for Galaxy Toric lenses, best for Astigmatism which i have, every member of staff are friendly, treat you with respect and Surgeon talks you through your procedure and all done in 15- 20 minutes. Thank you all so much. XX

From initial appointment in April to discharge in July I kwas treated with care and efficient service. My needs were discussed with all options considered. The surgery went well and my progress was monitored. My focus problems were explained and I had some laser corrections which improved my sight. At the end of the day your brain needs time to adjust to your new eyes!

My experience of using Freedom Vision has been exceptional.
All staff were very welcoming, helpful and professional. Charlotte and Ben at my pre operative assessment in Sale explained all the procedure clearly and answered all my questions fully.
The laser procedure the following day in Manchester was equally relaxing and instantly successful.
