I recently had my van stolen from my home, with several items of valuable exterior equipment inside, which I needed to claim for under my Gleaming Insurance policy. Unfortunately, the underwriter, Hiscox, were extremely unhelpful at first and initially declined my claim despite me having met all the necessary criteria (the van was locked, parked on my drive, nothing visible through the windows, a full police report provided, etc.).

They attempted to argue that because the van wasn’t locked inside a physical compound, I wasn’t covered. This was completely unrealistic, as my home address is also my business address and I don’t have a yard or compound.

Martin the MD at Gleaming went above and beyond to help me. He supported me throughout a very stressful situation and persistently liaised with Hiscox on my behalf. Thanks to his efforts, Hiscox eventually accepted the claim and paid out for the items that were stolen from my van.

This was an incredibly stressful time, and I was hugely grateful for Gleaming’s support, persistence, and willingness to fight my corner. I highly recommend Gleaming Insurance.

this has to be the worst insurance company I have ever dealt with.
no way of contacting them. I took out insurance last year, I have never had any communication from them.
took my policy out online, it took ages for me to receive my policy certificate.
I tried to contact hiscox direct but they couldn't assist me as I went though Gleaming Insurance, I wasnt sure if it was going to atomically renew but payment were still coming out for 4 months but no update of a policy renewal, I had to take out insurance with another company when the renewal was due and pay for a second policy just to have the proof of being insured and peace of mind.
I have been trying to contact them for months. and now all of a sudden payments have finally stopped coming out of my account..

I asked a quote from them online, and they sent me policy documents with my obligations! I emailed them asking to confirm I did NOT take any insurance from them. Also, rang them, but only an automated voice says no one can take my call, I should email them. 21st century London? No. Rather a 12th century remote village style... UPDATE: They emailed me, confirmed no live policy with them. Upgraded to 2 stars, but, sending out policy documents with "your obligations" and, no one answering the phone is still a nuisance and wasting time of those who just ask for a quote.

I’ve been very pleased with Gleaming and the service I’ve received from them. Thankfully never had to claim, but one time, after being accused of damaging a customer’s property, Gleaming & Hiscox where very good with their response, dispute it being the early days of the pandemic & lockdown.

Over the years on a number of occasions I’ve had to contact Gleaming for advice on how to handle a situation or for other advice. Every time Martin has been quick to respond & help out. This has kept them my business over the years.

One negative I did experience was early on. I wanted to add certain options to my cover but wasn’t getting a response. Eventually this was sorted and I received a ongoing discount as way of compensation for the delay. Asides from this early upset, I’ve never had cause for complaint and wholeheartedly recommend them to others in my industry!

I had been insured with these for a for about 5 years then found out they had my wrong address for 2 years. I had told them when I moved to my new address but they denied this and the customer service was shocking so asked to speak to somebody else. The MD 'Martin' contacted me. What a waste of time that was as he was just an arrogant man and basically told me to find another insurance provider. Awful customer service from the owner of the company!! I've now not renewed and cancelled my policy and moved to another company for a similiar price. Avoid getting insured with these at all costs, I'm glad I didn't have to make a claim with them it would have been a nightmare.

Having used gleaming insurance for 5 years now and recently having to make a claim I am delighted with their service. They have always been easy to deal with and responded quickly but you only know the value of insurance when you need to claim. My equipment was stolen from my van and the insurer paid out within 7 days. Chuffed to bits with that.

It is several months since I made a claim and I am guessing the broker has had numerous claims in that time but I just wanted to record my satisfaction with the way I was treated by Gleaming Insurance (broker) and by their insurer Hiscox. It was not the quickest but it was efficient and well communicated - my client (third party? anyway the person who suffered the loss) was a bit prickly and fussy but understanding of the situation and I respondedvery quickly to all requests for information - I had no option but to claim because the item we damaged was an expensive item even though we acted in good faith (the first and only ever claim in 12 years of trading) in a cleaning/consumer environment - that is not bad in my books! Anyway thanks to Gleaming and Hiscox it was all sorted out and they paid out to my client obviously with dd and some scrutiny but pleasantly and with efficiency - which is all you can ask - what did the old tag line say - we wont turn a drama into a disaster! Thanks Gleaming!
