Our 12-month guarantee is our 100% promise to you, that if any plants fail within 12 months, we will replace them, when the guarantee conditions are met. To qualify for the 12 month plant guarantee, you need to do the following: Step 1. Rootgrow & Fertiliser Ensure you buy Rootgrow & fertiliser with your plants at the time of purchase Step 2. Prepare Your Planting Area Make sure your planting area is in good condition and suitable for planting Step 3. Plant & Feed Plant with Rootgrow and the second feed. Support plants if necessary. Water regularly Our Quality Process We're passionate about hedges and part of that is ensuring we only source and despatch the best quality. We regularly visit our growing sites to check on the progress, health and growth of our stock. All our growers work strictly to the regulations governing the horticultural industry and have many years' growing experience expertly cultivating plants to their best potential. When a delivery arrives at our nursery, a member of our quality team will inspect all of the plants to ensure that they meet our high-quality standard. Once the plants have been checked, our teams will find them an appropriate place on our nursery to keep them in the best condition. Depending on the species and the time of year, this will be in our polytunnels, in a sheltered bay or barn or out in our fields. Avoid

Didn't start strong when trying to place my order and there was a glitch that wouldn't give me the delivery options to choose, so I couldn't complete checkout. Called them and they took the order over the phone. I made the order in time for delivery for the Easter Bank Holiday weekend but heard nothing, so called them up to be told in a very curt manner that I would have been told that part of my order wouldn't be ready for April when placing the order. I wasn't. I choose 4-5 working days delivery and nobody said a word. Then they agreed that a tree in my order was ready and they'd get that shipped separately but all the delivery slots for Easter had gone. Another week went by, I phoned again, the person I spoke to could see this in the system but needed to look into it, could they call me back. They didn't. I then got an email on a Thursday to say my order would be delivered on the Friday. Friday came, it didn't turn up. I phoned in on Monday, the person didn't have any tracking info, could they call me back. Didn't hear anything. The next day everything in my order turned up. My live plants that according to the label had started their journey 6 days earlier were delivered. They all came together, not separately as I'd been told. Time will tell if they survived. Still no phone call returned from them. The courier, stood the box up on my drive, took a picture and walked off. Didn't knock, didn't ring the doorbell. 30 seconds later the box blew over, they'd probably not even got back in their van. About sums up this company, even the courier they use couldn't care less.

My plants were not delivered on the day…

My plants were not delivered on the day requested one day late.
The plants were all over the place in the box and in two cases were out of their plant pots.

The cardboard containers were soaking wet and were therefor not capable of packing in the plants in their pots. The cardboard had disintegrated.

Disappointed

Disappointed with the condition of the plants. They arrived without sufficient packaging, so some were on top of each other or upside down in the box. Compost had spilled out, many leaves had come off and a couple of stems had snapped. We are hoping they may recover, but I wouldn’t order from this company again….

Customer Service was really good

Customer Service was really good. I am bad with names but the people I spoke to were really understanding and good listeners
Ordered twice already and ordering more, love shopping at your website. Thank you for all the work and for sending beautiful plants.

Plants much smaller than ordered

We ordered 120 - 150 cm hawthorn hedging, when it arrived, the boxes hadn't been kept upright by DHL, so most plants were out of their pots.
However the main complaint was the plants were only 60 - 70 cm, half the size ordered, so had to photograph and contact customer services, who have been very helpful so far and are arranging uplift and replacement.
My main bad review is, the plants shouldn't have left the company that size in the first place.
Just waiting to see if the whole issue gets resolved successfully.

Poor service and very poor plants.

Having paid for named day delivery for 10/4, I chased the day before and told the named day was no longer available. They then agreed to deliver on a Saturday so I could get the plants in the ground. DPD delivered at around 3pm. On initial inspection, the Holly 'bushes' were drier than the Sahara. Mad panic to get the plants in the ground in an effort to save them. They really are the worse quality plants I've ever received with many blackened leaves etc. Out of the 90 plants ordered, I'd say only 20% are as described in terms of height and growth; some are literally twigs. It isn't the first time I've been disappointed with Hedges Direct but it will be the last. I have emailed customer services but sadly I've received no response.

Plug plants in 2L pots

Ordered 10 Panicum Northwind 2L pots. The plants I received look to be about 1/10th the size in the picture on the website and the soil is very loose in all the pots. It really seems like I received plug plants recently potted in bigger pots. I very much feel like I have been scammed. Live plants are considered perishable goods so I had no recourse to get my money back.

Plants were better than the online image

Really pleased with the communication I received and the ease of ordering. Also, the information about the different root types, plants, heights and ages was great for planning my purchase and creating my new hedge space. The delivery was smooth and the plants were well packaged and protected. I was very pleased when I unpackaged the plants to find they were mature, healthy, a great size and undamaged. Unlike others I've ordered in the past, from other online suppliers, these plants looked as good as the online image if not better. Very happy!
