Everything was great

Pick up, and return, couldn't have been easier

Overall, the reservation of this 2024 Jeep Compass vehicle went extremely well.

The car was pristine with cleanliness, smelled good inside, had excellent cargo space room (and a lot of it!), was decent with gas, had a few places for chargers (a cigarette lighter adapter that I had an additional power inverter for for my laptop and other charger ports), a USB A, AND A USB C), had Bluetooth for my music, navigation on screen, and connected directly to my Android device.

I had a severe issue with the connectivity to my Android phone, as it kept going back and forth between being connected and not throughout the entire reservation, including whilst charging, so that was annoying to handle, especially considering the music kept stopping, as well as the navigation cutting out and I constantly had to restart everything. Probably my phone, but either way, not convenient!

I also would have preferred with this reservation to have been given a vehicle that was a bit more gas friendly, as this one took probably $70-$80 to fill at the time when prices were around $5.50 a gallon. It would've been nice to be more capable to have chosen which specific vehicle I'd received.

The price is definitely outweighing every negative aspect with this vehicle, however, as the most I'd had to pay for a whole week was around $190.00! Can't beat that price! There was a $200.00, refundable deposit fee that I had to pay with a credit card specifically, and each extension payment came from this card, as well as the total rental price for the vehicle. The debit card I think had a deposit fee of $500.00 or so, so I just went with the cheaper option, although I wish that I could've switched to a debit card for the remaining extension payments, but you have to keep paying from the same card you used to first purchase with the deposit.

They even let me extend ONLINE (didn't have to call or anything!), sometimes with prices not even a day's worth of extension pay!

I also got to return the vehicle to an entirely different location, Costa Mesa being where I'd picked it up, and San Diego where I'd left it. That was convenient, considering it would've been another hour and a half drive! They also didn't charge me a dime to return it that far away, gratefully!

The Hertz associates at both locations were very knowledgeable, thorough, and professional, which was equally as helpful as being capable to have the opportunity to book this vehicle.

Other than those issues, everything was fabulous! Thanks for everything, Hertz!

very poor customer service

I wasn't able to get the vehicle that I reserved, so settled for something else. The time it took between when I arrived to when I drove away with my rental was fine and the rep was pleasant.

However, when I returned the rental, at the encouragement of the cust service rep who was busy with another customer, I left the keys with them with the assurance that I would get an email receipt. I did receive the receipt, but found I was charged an extra hour's rental time. I did return the rental on time, but the cust service rep didn't get around to receiving the vehicle until an hour or so had elapsed, and thus the charge.
